good good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil >> heavy rains pounding the bay area today, it's rain that we needed but created lots of problems. in the north bay, drivers had to wade through flooded roads. a similar scene in the south bay this, car stuck in heavy flooding this morning. it wasn't just flooding, trees toppled in the wind and rain across the bay area. this tree fell on power lines and caught fire in santa rosa. >> so much rain, one neighborhood in pitsber flooded

ramone. check this out giving you a wider view of the big powerful storm picking up wave after wave of rainfall and thunderstorms beginning to move into the santa cruz mountains and well inland. let's talk about wind gusts, before getting to winds, let's talk about rainfall totals they have been impressive. an inch and a quarter in san raf yes. over an inch in san francisco. and now looking live at mount tam, it's rainy and windy now. overnight gusts 64 miles per hour in los gatos. winds calmed down a bit now. you can see from a bit of sunshine breaking through here now. more showers coming our way and thundershowers late tonight. i'll give you a look at the

>> crews cleared the trees quickly. i didn't hear about vm power outages but we didn't get winds forecast, either, yet. >> however, crews were working to trim branchs that could snag power lines. storms could be good for business. >> good for business we need rain. whenever rain to see more fall so we'll get more. yeah. >> the rain made for slippery road conditions and low visibility and there are strong winds. >> it was fun, yeah. >> a little bit, not much. >> in scots valley david louie abc7 news. >> an abc7 news morning crew found this car in a flooded lane along northbound highway 87 in san jose. it appears the driver ignored cones trying to divert traffic from high waters and trying to drive through and got stuck.

some new video of crews repairing a pumping station next to highway 87. officials expect copper thieves stole wiring inside of the station that damaged a generator powering the pumps in the storm drain. >> also the driver of this red car also had to be rescued after they tried to drive true that deep water. don't ignore the calm, folks crews pulled them to safety and this driver, fortunately, wasn't injured. >> in san leandro, heavy rains caused part of a roof to collapse, sky seven hd was overhead today showing damage there near a creek rising fast. sergio? >> we've seen a couple people come here just to gaze at fog here at the creek. it's not flooding or anything,

it just hasn't been at this point in quite a while. it's been dry and people saying this storm did bring headaches but well worth it because they need the rain. rain came down hard enough in san leandro to trigger this roof to collapse. gera geraldo was on this side when it went down. >> everybody ran outside. >> the owner of a company says no one was injured when the 15 by 15 foot section collapsed. but it did damage some sm equipment and broke a water line for systems. that sprayed water all over the factory floor. plastic bag factory will be off line for a day. in danville this, tree blocked roads up to the eugene o'neal national historic park site. up in the hill a bit another downed tree took out power. >> i woke up, got up at 4:15. mr. computer wasn't blinking at

fresno county near an oil field the 36-year-old found unconscious just before 11:00. nobody saw it happen but officials say the man's wounds were consistent with a lightning strike. he's being treated in a local hospital. >> several communities have been evacuated due to the threat of flooding and mudslides. and some debris broke through barriers so far no, serious damage to report and coming up, here at 4:30 we'll tell what you is being done to protect homes in that area. >> four men in custody in connection with yesterday's shooting. this abc7 news was the first to break strit on twitter. a man driving home said men pulled up beside him and began

firing. seven shots hit the car, one went to the top of the cowboy hat. westbound 580 was shut down for an hour during the evening commute. patrol says officers recovered stolen weapons and the investigation continues. >> now in, a story you'll see only on abc7 news, partner of the man shot to death by san jose state university police is questioning why they shot him. officers say they saw antonio guzman wielding a saw blade near south 8th and east san salvador streets saying he lunched at one police officer. guzman died from being shot twice in the back. >> how is that they were afraid for their lives? he was walking away. i don't understand. shooting him in the back? come on. you know? tony was not an animal, he was a human being. do you know what? now, they left him with no father for what reason?
