>> thanks for tuning into the show. thanks for watching at home. glad you're here. you should have been here last night. we had an interesting night last night. the mayor of toronto, rob ford was here. after that, i'm not sure what happened. it seemed like we were having fun. we went over much of his remarkable life. we went over some of his home videos. then after the show, apparently he was upset. why, i'm not exactly sure. i asked him about drinking and smoking crack, what were we supposed to talk about? his other hobbies? anyway, after the show, rob buzz surprised, i guess, and he left right away mad. but then i don't know what happened, maybe he watched it again or he thought it out on the flight. but he reflected on the experience this morning at toronto city hall. >> did jimmy kimmel make a fool out of you? >> i don't think so at all. i'm getting a lot of support. was it a tough interview? sure it was. but he has a job to do. i haven't seen one of his shows

that he doesn't take shots at people. i knew i was going into a lion's den. i held my own. and i got my message out that i've saved taxpayers money. all my achievements. i wish i had more time to promote toronto. but you know what, that's what happens. i like jimmy and i love the people in l.a. >> jimmy: and we love you, too. we might even be in love with you, mayor ford. the thing is it's hard to tell whether he's mad or not because his face is always bright red. it doesn't change colors. but i want to say it was not my intention to upset the mayor and i hope we're still on for go-karting this weekend. but i do feel bad he didn't get more time to promote the city of toronto and i'm going to make it up to him later on in the show. so stick around for that. meanwhile it's fat tuesday. no insult to the mayor intended. it's a holiday. this was a float at mardi gras in new orleans. it's a giant smoking rob ford. pretty good actually.

representing canada, i guess. you know, new orleans and a few other cities around the country, the mardi gras madness, it comes to an end at the stroke of midnight. that was tonight. this is the night tonight on which women traditionally will penalize their fathers for not paying enough attention to them by exposing themselves to strangers in exchange for beads. you know, those mardi gras beads that they wear around the neck, they're being called a health concern. a doctor in 3w59 ton rouge is warning people that the beads can be covered with filth, bacteria and even the flu virus. true. it's true they won in hot water and soap. i'm sure that's the first thing on this guy's mind. i need to remember to wash my beads. it's especially important to keep the beads away from children. if you hear the words honey,

>> jimmy: welcome back to the show. omar epps is here. i interviewed mayor ford and yesterday after the show he was or wasn't upset, i don't know which it was. he said he wish he had more time to talk about toronto. i've been to toronto. as a sign of international goodwill, because the last thing we need right now is a war with canada, i decided to show video of all the wonderful sights i saw on my trip to toronto with my wonderful tour guide guillermo.

>> jimmy: this is the fifth season of "glee." >> yes. >> jimmy: and you have a game show. you're like ryan seacrest jr. >> i love it. i'm very busy. >> jimmy: you seem comfortable hosting things. >> i started out as a host. i was in the beginning of the home shopping network craze. there was this show, it was the very first one in the late '80s called american shopping place in glenco, illinois. >> jimmy: oh, you're not kidding. >> yeah, yeah. it was 24 hours. i did the 111::00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. shift. we took phone calls. a lot of drunken, dirty people. >> jimmy: did you have call screener? >> no, no. we had nothing like that. it was very primitive. the minute i got this job they were trying to replace me. they want these kind of cute, you know, minuscule people. and they had this big tall blond who showed up at 11:00 every

night. they allowed me to show up. they wouldn't make eye contact with me. they didn't want to create a relationship. i would say hey, how is everybody doing? they were going to get rid of me as soon as they could. they auditioned my replacements with me on television. live. they auditioned them live. >> jimmy: did you know that was happening? >> they would say show her the rope, jane. they would put her on an apple crate because she was usually ti tiny, so we could fit in the same shot. the director would always say save this, jane. save it. it's a particular skill to do this. >> jimmy: do you remember any of your co-hosts? >> yes. there was a girl named kend kendy klettfer who is exactly who they wanted. she's still doing it. >> jimmy: thank god they didn't keep you on there, you might still be doing that. >> she's now 25 year she is's been doing it. she reese on home shopping network.

she was a sweert girl. >> jimmy: what were you selling? >> a lot of cubic a plot of flea collars. our pets are like family. the next best thing to a real diamond. stress that. grandfather clocks. electric socks. >> jimmy: oh, wow. people would call in and you had a bank of people taking their orders. >> no, no, no. it was a tiny studio in glenco, illinois, which is just northwest of chicago. and we had, like, one guy at the phone, you know, who would say -- we've got a caller! and it would be like are you wearing underwear? that kind of thing in the middle of the night. it was so much fun. i loved every night.

>> jimmy: is it left to you to really sell the product? >> it is. they give you about ten bullet points about qualities of the product. and you have four or five minutes to just, you know, wrap on this stuff. it was the best improv training in the world. >> jimmy: i would imagine, you would be great at that. but i would imagine almost everyone else would be terrible at that. >> kandy kleppfer she would be great at it. >> jimmy: is that really her? >> there she is! she looks exactly the same! she looks exactly the same. she was great at it. she was really nice. she supported me. she knew my ass was grass. >> jimmy: maybe call in and buy something from her. >> i should. >> jimmy: did you go to the oscars? >> i didn't. i went to an oscar party, though. >> jimmy: friend's party? >> a friend's party. one of the reasons, i usually don't even watch the oscars. i have award show anxiety. >> jimmy: why? >> i don't mind hosting it.
