picks up the story with details you'll see only on abc7 news. reporter: police say their suspect is a convicted felon who was in possession of ammunition when he was arrested but it's important to mention he is not facing any weapons charges at this point. meantime, the wounded police officer is recovering here at san francisco general tonight from a gunshot wound. police chief stood vigil outside the hospital where officer adam shaw is recovering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. he told abc7 news exclusively that the 28-year-old will be okay. >> they just moved the officer from icu. he is in very, very good spirits. actually stood up and moved to a wheelchair. they put him into a room. >> overnight a dramatic police chase for the suspect spanned four counties, ending early sunday in san jose in video only an abc7 news, you see 50-year-old jeffrey ruano of an francisco taken into custody.

he screamed at officers this handcuffs were too tight. >> loosen them up. [bleep] loosen [bleep] up. >> ruano was arrested in a white mercedes but police say he was behind the wheel of a mustang on saturday afternoon when police pulled the car over in the mission. two officers approached the vehicle. a witness described what happened next. >> we were in the house we heard probably five or six shots, and then we heard a cop had been shot while we think somebody arrested. >> initially police said the first shots came from suspect's car. sky 7hd was overhead and captured this picture0s hasks and what appeared to be a bullet hole in the trunk over the squad car. the partner of the wounded officer fired shots at the mustang when he said it started reversing temperatures the officers. now police are unclear how officer shaw was wounded. >> we do not know that. we know at the very least there was an assault on the officer

with a vehicle. >> the suspect's car was later found abandoned in daly city. a gun has not been found. >> we are getting more sight into how to police responded to the emergency. hear a portion of the dispatch call. >> ambulance right now. i've been hit. >> suspect. green mustang. >> the injured officer, adam shaw, is a six year veteran of the force. >> the breaking news now from northbound 880 in east oakland. at least one person is dead and another injured in a traffic collision. two lanes are blocked. chp is investigating reports that someone tried to run away from the scene following the crash. we'll have more on this story on abc7 news at 6:00.

new details tonight in that massive search for a passenger jet that disappeared in south asia on friday with239 people onboard. there was a report that one of the plane's doors may have been spotted in the water. the transport minister says authorities are looking at videos of two passengers who boarded with stolen passports. interpol now about the storm part passports but said no one check the database. here's the later. >> turns out the oil slick in the south china sea apparently does not lead back to the jetliner. only deepening the mystery. still no sign of wreckage. the boeing 777-200 took off with 239 on board. on a flight to beijing. it flew out another radar
