you can see how massive the flame were at the height yesterday evening. katie marzullo is on scene. i can speak to the winds mike was talking about and they are gusting. right now firefighters are very much working on the building and you can see down the road there were three ladder trucks in place. they are down to two but they are still blasting water on the building trying to soak it down and keep the embers from flying. if you look at the video, a gas truck had to drive around and refuel the diesel because some are in such precarious spots and they are not moving. the fire was reported 5:00 last night. the building is under construction. the workers left an hour earlier

at 4:00 in the afternoon. firefighters worked hard and fast and half of the san francisco fire department is here, 150 firefighters trying to contain the fire. flames were 50' in the air. one firefighter was hurt with minor burns. the few people that live in this new area had to be evacuated. one tells how squarey it was. >> it got so big. i was worried that it would spread. sky 7 is over the flames and last night the flames were still smoldering with so much of the to put out the fire the fire department had to call the water department and get more water

on bail this morning after being arrested for rape. the officer geoffrey graves is accused of attacking a woman on duty and been on paid leave since october. officials say he was an officer who responded to domestic call involving a san jose couple. the wife decided to spend the night at a local hotel and graves drove her there. she chills he came back to the hotel later and raped her. the police chief says this is an isolated incident and not a reflection of the officers. >> vietnam says they are scaling down the search for missing jetliner until authorities come up with better information on where to look. the flight vanished five days ago with 239 people on board. officials are expanding the search to cover south china sea and is investigating the co-pilot for possible safety violations.

ukraine prime minister will meet with president obama at the white house. he called on the west to defend ukraine against russia which he says is amended to the teeth and has nuclear weapons. the pentagon estimates there are 20,000 troops, russian troops in the ukraine. >> contra costa county could charge you a fee for making emergency medical culls. the board has endorsed fire officials' fee proposal. residents would need treatment by first responders are billed $400 to the health insurance provider. the fire protection district is financed by property taxes but is facing a $10 million deficit the next fiscal year. the proposed fee could generate $1 million a year.

live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. san francisco firefighters are watching for flareups after the fire that devoured a massive building unconstruction near at&t park. the big concern is two walls of the building are teetering on the verge of collapse. we have coverage of the fire but, first, a quick check on traffic and weather. >> we will zoom to that area and show you what is going on at 62 degrees and bone dry. the winds are around nine miles per hour and not gusting anymore as they did overnight. we have high wind advisory until 8:00 for all areas but the santa clara valley and san francisco and the north bay coast. we have had gusts at 45 to 60 miles per hour during the overnight hours with downed trees. so far, power lines are holding
