live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> good morning, i am kristen sze. >> i am eric thomas. >> officials hope to restart train service in a moment following a fatal accident on the union pacific track. >> firefighters were called to the seen after 9:00 this morning to check out reports that a pedestrian had been hit and killed by a union pacific train. the male was pronounced dead at scene at the berkeley and albany border. the train now is stopped, blocking virginia streets and

others, as well. our breaking news coverage will continue on twitter. we will continue to follow that but police are looking forrens withs as they investigate a fatal stabbing in a popular park in campbell yesterday. the victim was a teen. matt keller is at the park with that story. matt? >> i just got confirmation from the campbell union high school district that the victim in this case was a 16-year-old student recently transferred there from westmont high school. grief counselors are at both schools trying to dole with what happened here at the park in campbell. >> this is the largest park in campbell and last night the sight of the first homicide of the year. a person called 9-1-1 to report an injured man in the park. police arrived to find 24-year-old with injuries sustained from a beating.

then another call reporting a 16-year-old boy dropped off at the emergency room with a stab wound where he died this morning. police believe the two had some type of confrontation by the baseball field with the possibility that others were involved. officers believe they have the knife used to kill the teen. >> from what i am told it was a large hunting type knife like a bully knife. >> he is cooperating and claiming self defense. he does not have a permanent address and stays at friend's home in the area. officers say the boy is a san jose resident and are looking at the possibility that this could be gang-related. people in the neighborhood say it is popular, but the homicide is obviously concerning. >> i would not come here after dark. i have a 14-year-old. she is 14. i would not bring her here at night. >> it will be up to the district

attorney to decide if a homicide charge is applied or for he acted in self-defense. thank you. concord police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian on the major streets. knick is at willow pass and north 5th with the latest on the search. nick? >> concord police pulled surveillance video from the store up the street and are hoping to identify the driver who was up the sidewalk, tore down this sign, struck and killed a woman and kept going. surveillance video show a concord woman minutes before being hit on willow pass road. hopefully this video can provide the information needed. >> the concord police kept wanted to see the tape and i am not sure what they found, if anything at all. >> half a dozen investigators spent hour hours canvassing the

area, checking this surveillance video. we are only showing a small portion to protect the integrity of the investigation. >> the victim was struck and killed by a vehicle. the vehicle fled the scene. we have witnesses but the description of the suspect vehicle is vague at this time. >> police have identified the victim but are not sharing her name pending notification of her family. they say she was hit while walking westbound on the sidewalk. vehicle that struck her, believed to be a pickup struck, was driving eastbound. police say it is possible that the victim saw the driver barreling down on her and simply could not move fast enough to avoid being hit. police say that the driver may have been impaired by sleep, drugs or alcohol giving them reason to speculate why they indicated woman and drove away. >> there is evidence and we are trying to recover that so we can arrest someone.

shock. >> a fairfield father accused of biting off part of his baby's noise because he would not stop crying will be arraigned this morning and is held at $800,000 bail. the baby's mother say he showed no signs of violence before he bit his son. a third of the child's nose was severed. the newborn is will suffering from a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage. ta'jon is is in the custody of chile protective services. his mom will fight that authorities are investigating an overnight house fire in san jose where a marijuana "grow" operation was found. crews waited for pg&e to turn off the power before they could go on the home. the electrical service was illegally bypassed. 70 marijuana plants were found inside the home and a smaller quantity outside. the owner said he has a permanent to grow them. >> if you are going to celebrate

third person has died after being hit by a drunk driver outside a club at festival in austin after plowing into a crowd in austin, texas, on thursday. the victim, 26-year-old college student was with friends when the man drove through a barricade as he ran from police. two others died. 22 others have been injured. >> tragic news from new york this morning, the girlfriend of mick jagger was found dead in her apartment this morning from a suicide. she was a fashion designer and ex model who began dating the front man in 2001. her assistant discovered her body after getting a text to come over. so far, no suicide note has been fund. a spokesman for jagger said he is completely shocked and devastated by the news.

>> today, maintenance crews are inspecting a delta airlines jet that lost a panel from one of the wings in flight. the flight was en route from orlando to atlanta when the panel came off. the boeing 7757 with 185 people on board landed safely atlanta. the incident was highly inbound, but it did not affect the plane's ability to fly. >> a san francisco tech company is responding to accusations from a former engineer who is alleging sexism in the workplace. the woman worked for a host service for software development projects and announced the resignation and took to twitter to blast the company. in an interview with the company she accused we the company of treating her differently for being a woman and she says that the wife of one of the company founders bullied her repeatedly. the c.e.o. apologize to her in a statement saying that there is a new head h.r. and the bullying wife is banned from the office

water cooler talker. we are out here and you can see the clouds, a few lingering clouds from the cold front that brought a few sprinkles away the neighborhood but nothing measurable and live doppler 7 hd shows how dry the air quickly is becoming and how the winds are starting to gust and come from the north and that is the cooler and dry air that is going to hang around for the better part of the day. the winds are going to be fastest over the ocean so we have a small craft advise athe 15 to 15- to 25-knots through 9:00, and in the central valley we have northeast wind at 15- to 25-miles per hour with gusts up to 40 to 45 miles per hour and that is through 9:00 this evening, and the atmosphere will decouple when the sun starts to set the look at the temperatures, 55 in novato to 62 in failed and 61 in antioch and concord and oakland and san ramon 60, everyone else in the upper 50's. these are running cooler than year, just about everywhere, from one degree in santa rosa to seven in concord and san jose

and that be the big story going forward. mostly sunny conditions, and temperatures are cooler and the breezes will pick up especially evening who the bodies of water. tonight it will be breezy and spring starts on thursday, with in showers in the seven-day forecast. clouds and even those are starting to clear out, so, dry and cooler breezes throughout the afternoon. here the temperatures, low 60's along the coast, a few mid-60's are possible and mid-to-upper 60's are more likely around the bay and inland the tonight, 52 in san francisco, and 50 at richmond and oakland and everyone else mid-to-upper 40's and breezy above1,000 feet.

the 18-year-old mason andrew, one of 23 people injured last thursday when a drunk driver crashed through barricades at the music festival in austin, texas. mason is recovering from a broken nose, leg, and a fractured neck. she has been friends with the band since last year and band members say they are so grateful she will be okay and that they were able to take their music to her since she missed the performance. >> classy. well done. well playeds guys. >> from all of us at abc7 news thanks for joining us.
