co-kgo. -- live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> a crash and a ball of fire kills two memorial in a news helicopter. a driver on the ground was critically injured. >> the video shows the aftermath of the crash seen in seattle. police tape is around the scene as the investigation begins. you can see the charred wreckage of the chopper and the vehicles on the ground, some behind a tarp and the police line there. our reporter, katie marzullo, is in the newsroom with the latest.

>> the medical examiner arrived in the past 20 or 30 minutes and the bodies are still there, in the wreckage, and the abc station in seattle has identified the two-man crew killed this morning. they have released this picture, the photographer who was on board, he had recently retired and was actually only working part time in the chopper. his son is also a news photographer. the pilot has been identified. on the ground, the 38-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries. our news chopper crashed down after lifting off. >> employees were among the ones who heard and saw the helicopter go down yards from the space needle. >> i looked down and i heard the engine turn on and a few seconds later "boom." >> i her a muffled "pop" prior to the helicopter appearing nose up and tail down and it turned

into a rapid rotation. >> two people on the helicopter were killed. this red car was actually hit and the driver, though, got out and run. >> he was pleading severely from the head and the shirt was ripped and on fire. >> he was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. >> it is significant number because when you are burned over 50 percent of the body your chances of survival go down. >> two othervicted caught fire. the woman in the blue vehicle is okay, the man in the truck left but has been allocated. huge flames poured from the wreckage and a trail of burn fuel added to the destruction. a crash so severe, that there is nothing left the chopper. >> the only part of the helicopter you can see is the tail but the rest of the helicopter is right where the white tent is and it is a metal frame that has been burned up. >> the ntsb is now on the scene and a meteorologist says weather

to something else they found inside. our news reporter is at the scene. matt? >> i was told that homicide detectives are still at the seen collecting evidence more than 13 hours after this was first reported. only thing they don't have now is a suspect. >> this quiet neighborhood near coyote creek in south san jose was filled with believes last night after a person called 9-1-1 to report a man injured and undiscussion at a home. >> he suffered from at least one gunshot wound. he was pronounced deceased at seen. he was in his 20's. it is not called a "grow" house but there were marijuana plants inside. they would not say if they believe that is a nottive. >> a neighborhood found police tape on her mailbox. >> cops came economy and we don't know what is going on. >> a lot of the homes in the area are owned by retirees who are around on day watching the neighborhood. police officers say this part of san jose is normally quiet and safe with a rare burglary or minor crime reported. >> my family has lived here for the last 20 or 30 years and...nothing ever happens like it. it is a shock. >> we called the medical examiner and they said the police department is not allowing them to release the name of the victim at this time. >> thanks, matt. in the south bay, san jose firefighters are obtains scene of a cliff rescue in alum rock park. a park visitor fell 30 feet off the peak before 10:30 this morning with live pictures of emergency crews on the scene there. there is no word on the condition of the victim. we will continue to monitor this situation and keep you updated

on the rescue throughout the newscast. >> happening now, the c.h.p. is investigating a devastating head-on crash in napa. we were over the scene around 7:30 this morning. according to the napa valley register, a woman in her 20's was declared dead after crossing the double yellow line in her honda civic and crashing into another vehicle. two people in the other vehicle survived. >> the manhunt for a castro valley man accused of shooting and killing his wife is over. the 45-year-old is jailed right now after he turned himself in. nick? >> the arrest war ran was issued for the man on saturday night. he turned himself in last night. we have a picture of him on our screen now, this is 46-year-old fang me of castro valley wanted in the shooting death of

45-year-old, his wife and mother his two children. officials say that he surrendered to the east bay police department in hayward and taken into custody without incident. according to the alameda county sheriff deputy when investigators tried to speak with him he asked foe an attorney. as of today, he has not talked to officials about the case. deputies found the body in the home on saturday afternoon. officials say they have established a motive for the shooting but are not sharing it as this time. they are will being tightlipped about how many times show was shot and where the body was found. officials are anding that anyone with information about this case contact the alameda county sheriff deputy. he currently is being held in the jail without bail. thank you very much. right now, going back to seattle, joining a news conference with seattle mayor murray after the helicopter

crash. >> a brief summary of the coordinated response to this tragic incident as well as our coordination with the federal government. some of the information will change. please keep that in mind. i spoke this morning with the federal aviation administrator's regional office who has turned over the investigation of the crash to the national transportation safety board. investigators from the ntsb are currently on site. you may know they will have a press conference at 1:00 o'clock on site. it is my understanding that the site will need to be secured for several days, potentially up to three to five days. in addition, the seattle and fire department, the seattle and police department are managing the incident response and will also be supporting the federal

investigation. as many of you know there are police and firefighters at the seen that can be made available to you. seattle public utilities is currently cure naturing a clean up response because of the fuel that spilled. there was ten tons of sand dumped to absorb the fuel. there are vacuum trucks currently at site cleaning up the fuel and the sand. presently the south side of seattle center near the base of the space needle is closed off. there is also -- the space needle is closed at moment. the mono rail is closed at the moment and may need be to closed for the rest of today if not longer. at least until the bodies are removeed. this is out of respect of those who lost their lives. the traffic is being managed by

clash in concord that left a 46 -year-old woman dead. a man is under arrest on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. larson's chevrolet was traced to his home in antioch where he was taken into custody yesterday. police say that larson was involved in two accidents in an hour, the first on willow pass road and concord before midnight and this is surveillance video of the victim moments before the crash. police say larson hit 46-year-old woman and took off. less than an hour later he was involved in a second wreck in antioch. >> still to come an important food recall to tell you about and the petaluma slaughterhouse problems are affecting a popular snack. >> new insight about debt facing mick jagger's late girlfriend as the stones decide the show will not go on. >> hanky-panky at a b&b

covering daly city, los gatos, and dublin and all the bay area this is abc7 news. a new york man is trying to find a new place to live when he rented his apartment to the wrong people. he says someone had a sex party in his studio. that is not what he signed up for. he said high used the apartment share website to rent out the unit. a go named david, his brother and sister were supposedly in town for a wedding but it was not a wedding but...different kind of gathering. the building staff busted the party and called police and he says the b&b is helping him find a new place to live and picking up the tab for the big mess.
