police investigate and this area, particularly st. james park has a large homeless population and police say they have not determined if the victim is homeless. this is the second homicide in the city this week and the 10 the of the your, a man was shot and killed in south san jose on monday night. >> the city of richmond is a step closer to having the highest minimum wage in the state and the city council voted last night to move forward to race the minimum wage to $12.30 an hour bit year 2017. the marry sinnedded an idea to put it on the ballot in november. the minimum wage could go to $9 and up from there. katie marzullo will have reaction to this plan at 6:30. >> a tense stand off with police ended in gunfire last night.

are without a home this morning after a fire broke out in san francisco. it happened on monterey boulevard after 9:00 last night. most of the damage was to the balcony. eight adults, four cats and a dog were dismissed. one went to the hospital for buns -- burns. the cause is under investigation. >> a driver is in the hospital and under after arrest being shot by a sheriff deputy in san lorenzo. we were on the scene where the driver tried to run the deputy down and forced an officer to open fire at hayward at 5:30 p.m. yesterday when deputies pulled the man over driving a black bmw. he drove off. there was a chase on 880. he got away for the moment. members later the car was spotted and when a deputy approaches with the gun drawn the driver tried it run him down. >> the deputy feared for his safety and fired two shots and

6:44. developing now in richmond, minimum wage worker could make more. the city council took a step to bostonning the minimum hourly rate to a new state report. katie marzullo? >> first reading of the ordinance passed that would make richmond's minimum wage $12.30 by 2017 making it the highest minimum wage in the state. currently, the state rate is $8 an hour compared to a city like san francisco which pays $10.74 and san jose pays $10.15. originally the mayor was going to put this to a public vote on the ballot in november but at the city council meeting last night she change her mind. >> it is clear we want a minimum wage increase, why not have it come interest effect sooner rather than later? why wait until november?
