live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. kids loved him. i have run into athletes who think they own the campus that ricky was a gentle giant. >> a coach of a fallen sheriff deputies republicans him as a humble and compassionate man killed in a shoot out with a carjacking suspect. deputy ricky del fiorentino grew up in napa and a star athlete at napa high school a community shaken this morning by the traumatic loss. we are at the school.

>> i spoke to his former football coach. he, understandably, is extremely emotional but shared memories of ricky and pictures that we had not seen before. >> del fiorentino is seen as a star football player at napa high school. >> he was real gentle giant on the campus. people loved him. >> the coach was devastated by the news. >> the way he went is nonsense. >> the 48-year-old sheriff deputy was a 26-year veteran of law enforcement. officials say the deputy tell definitely was killed on wednesday in a shootout with 32-year-old ricardo antonio chaney from oregon. >> he didn't have a chance is the thing. he had the guy cornered and he pulls out a semi-automatic and sprays him with bullets. >> he sprayed the officer's car with an assault rifle before

a homicide north of point reyes. officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 2:30 this morning after a report of a verbal domestic disturbance at a trailer in a campground. they found a 19-year-old from marin county fatally shot by one of the residents. his name has not been released. two people are being questioned. >> in berkeley investigators say a burning cigarette is to blame for an early morning fire near the cal campus that break out outside a building on university avenue forcing more than 100 people to evacuate. most are students. investigators say the debris caught fire after someone knew a lit cigarette butt out of the window. >> i woke up at 2:13 and i smelled electrical fire. usually the building you wills are very thin so i thought it was someone else. but it was going everywhere. no one was seriously hurt and you heard ashley took this

breeze today and tomorrow. temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60's along the coast into san francisco and low-to-mid 70's if you headed out in other neighborhoods the tonight you can see the low clouds semiing into the bay keeping up in the upper 40's to low 50's and inland we have low-to-mid 50's not really affected by the low clouds. next tuesday, you can see the cold front barreling toward us and the low developing is something new a wave that is developing. to that happens, it increases the energy and possibly the amount of rain that this storm system could break out, hoping .1" to ..25". that is all the rain we have to look forward to. oneone to two degrees warmer on saturday and sunday and tuesday and wednesday, temperatures could be average or a bit below with the next much needed chance of rain. enjoy this first day of spring.
