it's happening in san francisco where police opened fire killing man with a gun in a popular park. >> witnesses describe a chaotic scene with more than a dozen shots fired. >> the park is in the normally quiet neighborhood. alan is live there with the latest for us. >> reporter: it's located on a steep hill. it's popular for its hiking trail. you can walk your dog off leash up here, but tonight something happened on that hill behind me. police are giving very few details. that's where police say the body of a man is lying with a gun next to him. shortly after 7:00 tonight someone called 911 and reported a man on the trail armed with a gun. police say he was not threatening anybody but he had his gun out when the officers encountered him.

witnesses who were watching the action say they heard police shout put the gun down. put the gown down followed by several shots. this is all very shocking to the people who live and hike up here. >> this is a relatively quiet area of the city. it's unusual. it's not something that comes to mind of being an area that's a problem to this district. >> reporter: we do know that more than one officer shot the man but police are notwho who this man, how many shots were fired or whether or not the man fired at police. we should know more tomorrow, and police chief is scheduled hold a town hall meeting early next week to explain what happened up here tonight. thank. >> thank you. reporting on this breaking news couldn' continues on twitter. the 21-year-old giants fan

who stabed a dodgers fan last year will not face charges. the two began fighting blocks away from the park following the regular season game between the dodgers and the giants. investigators interviewed witnesses who backed up the story that he was hit over the head with a chair and had no choice but to defend himself. san francisco district attorney says his office was ethically obligated to not prosecute. the search for the missi ii malaysia yet is now into the third week. the planes and 27 ships are searching the area that's measured about 22,000 square miles. so far nothing has been found. we have the latest. >> reporter: two weeks after flight 370 vanished the search for any sign of the plane is

on the voice recorder at all. it records on a two hour loop and if the plane kept flying for seven hours or more we may never know what happened when it changes course. there's also the possibility both recorders were shut off because the circuit breakers were pulled or due to a power failure. a teenager from dublin was taken into custody of suspicion of calling a bomb threat to public schools 1100 miles away. police traced the call from montana to dublin. after each call schools were evacuated and all classes in grades k through 12 were cancelled. documents show they collaborated on the threat. the district attorney is working with prosecutors in california to determine where the dublin boy will face charges. a disturbing case of abuse and neglect so disturbing even investigators with having a tough time.

31-year-old erica craig, a former prison guard were arrested after police found boys ages 3 and five and an 8-year-old girl living in filth. they were searching for mall nourishment and abuse. she was chained to a post. >> she looked like she had been in a concentrate camp. they're all malnourished. >> the girl is hospitalized for several days. all are now in protective custody. the girl and the oldest boy have be adopted by the two women. the youngest is the bilogical child of one of two women. a bicyclist hit man on a motorcycle causing his serious injury. it happened tonight. the motorcyclist lost control and slammed into a

best job at wells fargo. >> reporter: that's the senior vice president and director of social media. she flew in from charlotte, north carolina the show us their san francisco center which consists of about 12 employees. their main focus is to find out what you and others are saying about wells fargo across social media channels such as facebook and twitter. >> just a little stress release. >> reporter: let's take it bit by bit. every time someone uses the wells fargo handle or hashtag on twitter or posts something on f wells fargo knows where on the globe it's coming from. it's 2:58 p.m. pacific time. that number represents the number of mentions so far today. they get more than one million a year. they also track the public sentiment. the red line represents the negative comments.

the green, the positive ones over a seven day period. the center reaches out to those frustrated customers. >> they will respond and say sorry you're having an issue and offer you another channel whether it's an e-mail or phone channel to directly have a conversation with them. >> reporter: for example, this person tweeted, over dressed are the bane of my existence and added the wells fargo handle. one of these care bankers responded. please consider visiting a wells fargo station or calling. when the san francisco folks go home their center in manila picks off where they left off and when manila shuts down it's time for their charlotte office to take command. how many people respond to wells fargo. they say very few but that's okay because they want the clients to know if there's a problem, they're on it.

a turf war is brewing in santa clara. soccer players say the 49ers is not following through on their promise to provide a new field. when the 9ers are scheduled to play at home game traffic would prohibit them from using the soccer. they were providing three alternative fields but it looks like it may be falling through. >> there's no signed documentation. it's part of a contract. it said in the letter he was committed. >> the city is committed to spending $2 million to help facilitate the building of the site somewhere in the city. >> 9ers are only offering to promote new fields. the 9ers would only tell us they are in talks with the city. quite a windy day here in the bay area. >> a bit cooler. what's in store? sandy has our spring forecast. >> we have some beautiful weather coming up.
