before the shooting. reporter: yes, i did. and that encounter happened here near the entrance of personal heights bark. the neighbor says the man, whose name has not been releasees, was wearing a gun and a holster, walking on the path. the officers who fired on the man were not hurt. >> literally he was eating a burrito. >> he says the called his dog when he realized the man eating the burrito was wearing a holster with a gun. >> i immediate low thought, maybe he is afraid of dogs. make that's why he is carrying a gun. >> he said the man did not appear threatening, was 25 years old, wearing a 49er jacket. >> i go down the hill and go around the corner, and there's some of my neighbors who are waiting. did you see the guy with the gun? we called the cops. >> minutes later police officers arrived but when they approached the man, the deputy chief says he raised his gun. >> it does appear he drew that weapon and officers responded.

and shot him. >> we heard, like, probably five seconds of gunfire, like really erratic, pop, pop, pop, from multiple weapons. >> he heard about a dozen shots. he lives a block away. police have not said yet if the suspect fired his weapon. this park is scenic and normally quiet and safe. >> it's scary that someone is carrying a gun in a park in a neighborhood wily and he was shot and killed. >> the police chief plans a community town hall meeting next week to talk about the shooting. shortly after the shooting, protesters against police brutality came out in san francisco's mission district. as the crowd marched towards the hall of justice, several police cars were vandalized with graffiti. police received word of the protestness the area of division and bryant streets. you're looking at a viewer photo of police lined up on bryant street.

there's no word on injuries or arrests. a full scale manhunt stretched through the morning for man who had run-in with deputies in the santa cruz mountains. the ran rammed a sheriff patrol car. one deputy fired at the drive but no one was hit. deputies say he crashed down a raf vine. they -- ravine, they found him in the weeds nearby and arrested him. people in the area were in a shelter in place order as officers looked for a second suspect. but after an hour they determine the man eight on his own and lifted the order. >> a man died today becoming the city's second homocide this year. clarence celestine was shot last night. richmond's first homocide of the year was reported on thursday. that victim has not been identified. an unprecedented international effort has failed to turn up the slightest trace

of the jet in the mystery of flight 370. one lead after another has come to a dead end, but that might be a about to change tonight. there's a new image of debris and nasa says plans are underway to use space-based technology to further explore the area. here's the latest. reporter: as the search for flight 370 enters a third week, enter another possible lead. >> the chinese ambassador received satellite image of floating objects in the core core and are sending ships to verify. >> the hazy image seems to show large objects, 72 by 42 feet, on the century in fast of the wear in the indian ocean search field. take 75 miles south of where another satellite captured these two objects. the problem in both cases, a lag time of several days between when the pick pures -- pictures

los angeles lost the dubious distinction of being the bank robbery capital of the nation. "the los angeles times" reports there were 212 bank robberies in the area last year. the lowe's number since then 1960s. the bay area with less than half the population had more bank robberies, total of 227. there doesn't appear to be a singular explanation for the steady decline in l.a., but it is part of a larger trend of decreasing crime rates across the nation. a warning for people who may have used their master card to pay for dmv services. mastercard says it's investigating reports the california department of motor vehicles may have had a credit card breach. the information stolen includes credit card numbers and the three digit security codes on back. the transactions were believed to have been made between august 2nd last year and january 31st of this year.

yes, rain -- it's going to return as we get into next tuesday and wednesday. right now temperatures up as much as seven degrees in santa rosa, up one degree at sfo, up two at mount view two at hayward, and four at concord so slight warming will continue the next couple of days thanks to higher pressure right here. it's going to get the storm track to the north of us and will continue to keep a few clouds near the coast, but as we get into tuesday and wednesday, this high will start to push to the south, and this area of low pressure behind this system will move in and that is going to be our next spring rainmaker. here is a look at tonight's forecast. as we look at 11:00, you'll see mainly clear sky, and then the fog will start to roll in here. by 5:00 tomorrow morning. doesn't stick around too terribly long. will back off the coast and we'll definitely see more sunshine tomorrow. and of course warmer temperatures. i want to update you on our

drought watch. we are sitting at 22%, which is exceptional drop south of san jose, 49 possessor for the rest of the bay area, and here's a look at the snow pack. not looking good at all. here it is. march, statewide percent of normal, 25%. a week ago it was 29%. so with these warm temperatures, all of that is starting to meltment but our ten-day outlook, as we get into next wednesday, things will start to change a bit. we'll start to see the rain and by the first of april, more chances of rain will be with us off and on so hopefully we can improve that. here's a look overnight. low 40s to mid-to upper 40s. the highs tomorrow, 73, san jose. bring on sunshine. the peninsula,, 70, palo alto, san francisco, 65. forth bay, 74, santa rosa, oakland tomorrow, 70. interior east bay, 74 pittsburg and concord.
