damage. four people are dead and 18 unaccounted for after a wall of mud buried the snohomish county town of oso north of seattle. >> huge mud, debris, trees. >> eye witnesses describe a mountain of muted so enormous they weren't sure they would make it out alive. >> i just saw the darkness. >> even in the aftermath, the area was so unstable the. >> the mud was too thick and deep. >> even first responders were forced to retreat for their own safety. some of them who went in literally got caught in up to their armpits and had to be dragged out by ropes themselves. >> the sheer size of the slide, square mile in total. >> all i could see was debris. i was at awe. >> here's the hill before and then after. an enormous wall of mud and

debris, mixed with trees and homes. >> i can't get ahold of my grandma and we don't know if the guy is okay and people were stuck. >> there may be more danger to. now the fear is the pentup water from from the stillaguamish river pooling behind the mud. >> this is a river dumping into a lake. is eventually going to could. >> reports have been warn to prepare for evacuations and the search for survivors in this mass of mud continues. >> breaking news from vallejo where firefighters are battling a large fire. residents say they're seeing a lot of black smoke and flames coming from a building that is burning in the area, and now we are taking a live look at some of the smoke coming off the

fire. lillian kim is headed to the scene. we have now learned a volt teenager arrested in a fatal head-on collision may have been driving while drunk. it happened late last night. police believe 19-year-old husband gonzales was speeding when we crossed the lane and rammed into this car driven with a 32-year-old san lee an dohlman who died at the scene. >> police officers across the east bay took time out to remember a fallen colleague today. a special event was held to raise money for the fallen b.a.r.t. police officer who died in the line of duty two months ago, cornell bernard is live in the newsroom with the story. >> sergeant tom smith has not been forgone by his fellow b.a.r.t. officers or the

department. today many got together for a workout to raise money for the family sergeant smith left behind. >> getting a lot of offduty police officers together for a crossfit class isn't easy but not when the workout is in memory of a fallen officer. >> outstanding guy, my sergeant. >> this b.a.r.t. police officer worked alongside smith. smith was accidentally hot and killed bay fellow officer last january while conducting a search at the home of a robbery suspect. >> we always talked about his family, talked about summer all the time and loved his family and his friends very much. >> this was a benefit to raid money for smith's wife kelly and six-year-old daughter. >> i felt like i wanted to do something above and beyond. >> newark police officer organized the event. >> we want them to create new family memories. and if we can give them a little

will mean another beautiful day tomorrow. so do enjoy that. but get ready for the rain. tuesday afternoon, we'll see some move into the bay area by 1:00, rain around san francisco. wednesday morning is when we'll see showers, even continuing into wednesday evening. now, this storm system is also going to bring snow to the sierra. so heads up there is a winter storm watch tuesday afternoon through thursday morning. try to avoid driving at that time. it could mean one last ski trip to the sierra this coming weekend. i'll have the complete accuweather shortly. >> on the peninsula police arrested a tree trimmer who is accused of peeping on a woman he tried to sell his services to. carlos alfredo bejanis was arrested by police after authorities say he verbally harassed and peeped on a woman on channing avenue. police say he was going

door-to-door in the neighborhood advertising a landscaping business. he was arrested later when police found the business card he was leaving behind. an officer posed as a customer and arranged a location to meet where he was arrested. now to the latest on the missing malaysia airlines plane. france says new satellite data too indicate possible debris but today's search has turn up nothing. it's been 15 days since flight 370 with 239 people onboard disappeared. crews and planes from three countries have combed stretches of indian ocean, and now the weather has taken a turn for the worse. >> unfortunately we didn't find anything of interest today. we went out there in the area, we assessed the weather conditions. unfortunately they have deteriorated. clouds down to the surface and at times pleadly enclosed with clouds. >> france cautions its satellite data con cysts of radar echos rather than images but the echos

texas. it's threatening marine life and blocking shipping. no one knows exactly how much fuel was spilled when a barge collided with a ship. the barge sprang a leak in a tank which holds 68,000-gallons of fuel. some 60 vessels, including three cruise ships are waiting to get in or out of galveston bay. it's not clear when the shipping channel will open. >> san francisco's glide memorial church held a health care enrollment event today. it was for anyone who needed coverage or wanted to learn more. certified enrollment counselors were on handto explain the choices before open enrollment in the state's health care plan ends on march 31st. they helped people to figure out if the qualified for low cost or no cost medvedev -- medi-cal coverage. >> uc student asked hillary rodham hillary

day and you can expect similar conditions for monday. mostly clear and cool overnight. we'll see patchy fog develop near the coast, and possibly around the bay. but mostly sunny skies. rainy and cooler tuesday and wednesday. your overnight lows on the cool side in the 40s for the most part. 47, san francisco. we could see upper 30s in parts of the inland areas like santa rosa. 48 in oakland, mainly mid-up toker 40s elsewhere. 46 in san jose. and look at very warm numbers, above average for this time of year. 75 in san jose. sunshine, mild weather as well, antioch and livermore, one of the warmer spots in the bay area. mid-70s for you. san francisco, 65. half moon bay, 62. i want to show you what's going on upstairs. we're excited about the chance of rain mid-week.

we'll have another gorgeous day but this area of low pressure will move in tuesday and wednesday, and here's how the timing plays out. tuesday afternoon, some rain. wednesday, throughout the day, some light showers. thursday and friday, look pretty dry. but saturday night looks agent unsettle -- looks a little unsettledment could see wet weather saturday evening and sunday. rain totals will not amount to much. anywhere from a tenth to quarter inch. and we are well below average. so, it will at least put a dent in our rainfall deficit. and also here's a look at your accuweather seven-day forecast. warm weather ahead tomorrow. then look for rain tuesday afternoon. wednesday, spring showers, and then thursday and friday, there's very slight chance of rain, but we're only talking 10
