building, just north of valley vista eave. the situation is much better now. firefighters say they have it under control. the call came in at 4:45 p.m., and the fire quickly grew to two, three, then four alarms. it started as a grass fire and then pred to a tow -- that's a lot of vehicle traffic so the fire has caught the attention of vallejo residents. some tweeted that the smoke was tough on their lungs, but the smoke has gone down significantly. firefighters now have the fire under control but will be here for a while to mop up and keep an eye on hot spots. police officers from across the bay area pitched in to help out the family of a fallen officer. b.a.r.t. police sergeant tom smith died in the line of duty two months ago.

today his colleagues held a special event to race money for his family. cornell bernard reports. reporter: police officer is raffling off t-shirts to fellow police officers hung up uniforms for workout gear at a crossfit class in memory of a fallen officer. >> i can believe i'm talking to you and not going into tears. >> she is is family with the family of tom smith who was actually shot and kill -- killed by a fellow officer. she hopes this benefit will help the family. >> we want to create new family memories, and if we can give them a little something to help them take a family trip, or just do something together, to happen

the gang crime team is working the investigation. >> tonight san leandro police say a driver suspected of causing this fatal head-on collision may have been drinking before the accident. 19-year-old jesus antonio gonsalez of val hoe is said to have been speeding. authority says the crossed over into davis street and rammed into a car driven bay 32-year-old san leandro man who died at the scene. a driver who police say cause deadly hit and run accident that killed a bicyclist is now in jail. the accident happened in half moon bay along highway 1 friday afternoon. investigators say 23-year-old alvarado from half moon bay struck a bicyclist at the intersection. the 67-year-old victim died. authorities say the suspect sped off and later turned himself in that evening. he remains in custody and faces felony hit-and-run charges. spring showers are coming, though you couldn't tell on

stanford's campus today. owl you -- all you could see were blue skies. frances dinglasan shows us when that will change. >> tomorrow bill be another beautiful day but i want to show you the forecast mod to show you how it plays out. scattered rain tuesday afternoon and then wednesday we'll see widespread light showers all the way throughout the day, into the evening. there is a possible chance of rain as well next weekend. head coming up shortly. and also heads up, this storm will bring a winter storm watch in the sierra tuesday afternoon through thursday morning. we're talking one to two feet of snow above 6,000 feet. so we can certainly use that and definitely welcome it. try to avoid driving during that time because winds will be gusting up to 40-miles-an-hour.

birth control and religious right will be before the supreme court. arguments will come from family owned companies who object to covering certain contraceptives in their healthcare plans. companies say their religious beliefs prohibit them for providing for ending of life after conception. >> apple shares could skyrocket by a fifth of the current price this year. barons is making the claim in an article to be released tomorrow. it's because of a new big screen version of the iphone expected this year. the analyst believes the new phone will lead to current iphone owners upgrade michigan and -- upgrading and bringing people people who switched to other phones. >> here's good news for google

cooler along the coast with temperatures in the 60s there. here's what is going on for the radar satellite image. we have this area of high pressure giving us a slight onshore flow and the very mild weather. but this area of low pressure is going to come into the bay area mid-week, bringing us the chance of rain and showers, and the forecast model shows the rain moving in tuesday afternoon. this is the area in green. and then its turns into shower activity wednesday morning, but spotty showers throughout the day thursday and friday. mostly cloudy. then a possibility of another chance of rain saturday night into sunday morning. but it's not going to be much rain. in fact we're only talking a tenth to a quarter inch. in terms 0 of how we're doing around the snow pack and the state, 24% of normal with northern california only at 14% of normal. 30% of normal in central california, and 26% of normal southern california. so we can certainly use the rain, which will translate into
