abc7 news begins with breaking news. good morning, at action, -- at 5:00, with breaking news. >> a motorcyclist was hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver in fremont. knick is near the scene. nick? >> a bizarre change of events involving a vehicle on fire and someone being arrested at the

scene under suspicion of d.u.i. and you can see what we seeing at the intersection of fremont boulevard and dakota road with an idea of how large the area the police have designated as part of the crime scene. the police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of fremont boulevard with a collision between a vehicle and motorcyclist first reported to police before 2:00 this morning. the person riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead at scene and it appears alcohol was a factor. the driver of the vehicle has been arrested for suspicion of d.u.i. and we know he is a resident of emeryville and 23 years old. this played out quickly. fremont police police were called by a taco bell employee half a mile from this location. she said there is someone in the car would looked like they are drunk. police arrived and they made contact with the driver and they see the driver and ask the driver to pull over and he

refused. the driver takes off down on fremont boulevard. he hit as motorcyclist. he kills the motorcyclist. he continues to drive. he crashes into a light pole. the car catches fire. the driver jumps out of the car and runs into a field. they suspect he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. the pedestrians start waving at police arriving say there is a body if the street. that is when they realized the motorcyclist had been killed, struck and killed at the intersection of fremont boulevard. they expect the intersection to be closed affecting the commute at highway 84, this intersection will be closed until at least 9:00 a.m. you can follow the latest on abc7news.com.

interrupted a burglary in progress at 6 10:00 at night. she noticed the back door was open and she heard a door inside the home slamming. when police arrived she pulled up a feed from the surveillance camera in her home on her smartphone and she and police watched the men. after hours of police trying to coax them out the s.w.a.t. team entered the home and no one was this. it turns out the video feed was not live. officers think the guys escaped right before police arrived. investigators discovered how they got in and say they forced open a rear door and are not sure what all they took from the home but at this time they have not made any arrests. >> thank you, malaysian airlines this morning offers passengers' families their first

a fatal motorcycle accident at fremont boulevard. the collision between a mini cooper and a member ofist was -- and a motorcyclist was recorded after passerbys alerted police. it appears alcohol was indeed a factor. the driver of the vehicle has been identified as 23-year-old in emeryville and arrested for suspicion of d.u.i. >> as he traveled through the intersection headed northbound on fremont boulevard, the motorcyclist was likely traveling westbound and they collided in the intersection. there is motorcycle debris all over and it is a horrific scene. >> heavy debris littered the intersection and there are at least two dozen evidence markers up-and-down fremont boulevard as investigators continue to gather evidence. this is what you need to know

norfolk. the civilian shot the sailor aboard a naval destroyer docked in norfolk at 11:30. officers shot and killed the civilian. officials say he was authorized to be on the base but could not say whether he had permission to be on the destroyer. the installation was put on lockdown and was then lifted. nothing is being said other than the suspect a man. >> three daredevils accused of base jumping are accused of criminal charges for jumping off of freedom tower or one world trade center and posted it on youtube back in september. they turn themselves in to police yesterday and bailed out and face burglary, recklessen dangerment and other charges. >> we never minute to upset anyone, fog like that -- nothing like that it was positive and

saturday is when we have the best chance of rain this weekend and with highs we will run in the low-to-mid 60 in most neighborhoods and a few spots in the south bay are last to get any rain, if any at all, could hit upper 60 today and we are in the upper 50's along the coast. tonight it will be mild, upper 40's to mid-50. the commute is dry this morning and by noon the rain is falling apart through the heart of the bay and dissipating later in the afternoon. tonight, periods of light rain and drizzle and look at that, tomorrow morning the commute is is a secondary wave with moderate or brief heavy rain from isolated thunderstorm or two and maybe small hail and then more scattered from the afternoon hours on wednesday through early morning on
