right around the corner and this is a live look from our exploratorium camera. >> right now we are in a lull, but tomorrow morning's commute is going to be slow and wet. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm carolyn johnson. sandhya patel is tracking the system for us, and she is here with live doppler 7hd. >> carolyn and dan, we will get drenched tomorrow morning during the commute. let's check out live doppler 7hd and we can see what is on there now. we are just beginning to see a few showers developing in the last half hour or so. the first batch is around san mateo county and down toward the santa cruz mountains. it is going to be heading from west to east. we also have another batch i am tracking right now around san ramon. you can see it here heading out. as we take a wider look, you can see how the lightning strikes earlier today in the valley? well, we have a possibility of se thunderstorm thunderstorms developing off the coastline here as we head

combat logistics battalion came here with an american flag and a marine flag used to drape his body when they carried him from this spot. it is where he ended up when he and his motorcycle were struck from all the way over there by a car on the other side of the intersection. for the longest time everyone stood in shock and silence where u.s. marine lance corporal andrew silva was killed. >> he was a football player. he was a good son. >> silva came home from afghanistan last month after serving a one-year tour in the hellmund province. earlier this morning about 1:00 a.m. employees told police 23-year-old alex was drunk and causing trouble. the police saw him speed off. >> when he saw it it was in excess of 80 miles an hour.

crossed thorton and ran a red light. >> at that exact moment andrew silva passed thraw on his motorcycle. the impact sent silva and his bike airborne almost 30 yards shearing off a crossing signal and landing in the parking lot of a bank. >> they looked like they were in the air at the time they hit. probably 10 to 12 feet in the air. >> the driver lost control and smashed into a utility pole and then ran from police before he was arrested. silva was on his way to his in laws home where his wife and 2-year-old son were waiting for him just three miles away. he is being charged with dui and vehicular manslaughter. in union city, alan wang, abc7 news. >> tonight three men are in custody suspected of trying to gun down another group of people in richmond. it happened around 11:30 at the creditsent is park apartments -- at the creditsent is park apartments. they fired as many as 16 shots and no one was hit by the bullets. at least two cars were damaged as you can see.

police served a warrant and found three weapons. they are eke whiching to see if those weapons were the ones used in shooting. a tense town hall meeting in san francisco tonight. on one side the police chief explaining why a man armed with a taser was shot and killed. on the other, the dead man's friends and supporters who are outraged at the use of deadly force. cornell bernard is live in vernal heights with the story. cornell? >> a very heated meeting which lasted four hours tonight. we learned a man a who was shot by police did not have a gun. but he had a taser. he says when officers approached him he drew the weapon. the police chief was shouted down by an angry crowd who came to this town hall meeting to listen to details why the 28-year-old was shot and kie. by police. it was last friday in vernal heights park. >> this is the actual weapon d.

>> he was carrying a taser in a holster which resembles a real gun when compared side by side. he says 9-1-1 calls reported a man acting strangely and holding a weapon in the park. responding officers were 75 feet when they shouted a command. >> they asked him to show his hands to which he responded you need to show your hands. and then he drew his firearm. >> witnesses say they fired as many as a dozen shots. but most did not buy the chief's explanation. >> that does not look like that. that does not look like that. >> you can be -- [inaudible]. >> police say legally not legally carry a weapon because he had a history of mental illness. friends deny that. >> i hope the truth comes out. i demand we get an outside investigation into this entire ordeal.

>> police say they would welcome that. friends are planning a protest march later this week. in san francisco, cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> tonight we are getting a look at the fake permission slip for a field trip sent home by a teacher facing sexual abuse charges. a school board member claims he forged his principal's signature on this form for a spring break trip to yosemite. he faces 28 felony charges. he had been fired from another teaching job last fall uh hid accusations of molesting boys. he then landed a job there richmond without undergoing a background check because he worked there before. the school board plans to review the background check policy tomorrow. police say a home in mountain view was used as an illegal party pad before it was set on fear. three juveniles started the fire in an unoccupied home on march 16, but could not put it out.

investigators found it was used to host large parties with drugs and alcohol for more than a week before the fire. police have since arrested two adults for child endangerment and 12 juveniles for arson, burglary and arson theft. >> 24 bodies have been found in that mudslide in washington state. that includes a navy commander from yolo county where his father still lives. his body was found next to his dog this morning by his brothers who had joined the search. his wife remains missing. rescue crews have been going through muck and debris since the slide hit on saturday. they recovered 16 bodies and located eight more that have not yet been pulled free. >> oh my god. oh my god. oh no, oh no, oh no. >> and cell phone video captured a construction worker plunging from one balcony to another trying to escape an inferno. the man had to stretch out to climb on to a ladder. look at this. he did escape unharmed.

abc7 news reporter lisa amin gu what t explains what the coach did to make their season opener so unforgettable. >> delivered and it is chopped toward the second base man's head. >> the varsity team is used to dominating the baseball field. but on sunday they were asked to play a different role. >> i couldn't think of anything better to do on a sunday. >> all 25 players came to a chal a lengther's little -- a challenger's little league game to act as mentors. they all have various disabilities, some in wheelchairs while a others like ryan have autism. >> i am good at batting and playing therd base. >> each challenger was paired with a varsity player. it was a first time team up between the two. what was created within those two short hours was magic. >> to see my son glowing and to see jack and his brothersen -- brothers engaged it was a

special feeling. >> very emotional. it was hard to hold back a tear. >> on sunday it was extra special for the team manager. the 17-year-old was once a challenger's little leaguer. >> it made me feel proud because it mead me feel like i could be a role model. this kid had disabilities and i could do the same thing. >> to say the dublin ball fields were filled with pride is an understatement. bringing these groups of people together to play ball has left a lasting effect. the senior is working with the special ed class at his high school. he has volunteered to go to the prom with one of the students. >> it has helped me to see that not everyone can do what you do and you shouldn't take it for granted. >> these are my baseball hats. >> reporter: for this 11-year-old, it created a deeper connection to a sport he already loves and it has given him confidence.

this won't be the last time the two teams meet up. they plan to make this an annual event. in pleasanton, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> a school in colorado will decide if a girl can attend classes after her gesture to support a friend sparked controversy. 11-year-old delaney clements lost her hair fighting cancer. her best friend shaved her hair in solidarity. the officials at the charter school banned cameron forviolatr violating the dress code. >> she is my best friend. >> you wanted to support her? >> yeah. >> it makes me feel special and that i am not alone. >> for a little girl to be brave and shave her hair in support of her friend is a huge statement. >> cameron's parents received lots of support and for now she can attend classes until a final decision is made.

niners fans will be kept on a tight leash. inside the stadium the rules are obvious, no weapons, airbornes or outside booze. tailgating in the parking lot is where fans may feel bound by some tough rules. you cannot play football or throw anything at all including frisbies. you cannot bring a keg into the parking area. you cannot play amplified music that can be heard more than 50 feet away. a stanford band member who was an instant star will be on jimmy kimmle tonight. he stole the show during the cardinals win over second seeded cans -- kansas with his enthusiastic cow bell playing. and tonight kimmel gives him a shot to prove the cow bell isofy band. >> is that a demotion to be the cow bell guy? >> does it look like a demotion? >> now it doesn't. >> you can see much more of alex and jimmy right after the news tonight at 11:35.

>> you have to watch that. >> he has elevated the cow bell to a new level. >> sandhya patel is here with that. a little earlier before you go to bed live doppler 7hd we will tell you where we are seeing showers right now. moderate rainfall along the san mateo and santa cruz county coast developing in the last half hour or hour. we are seeing a few spotty showers shed -- around hayward and concord. we are seeing state route 88 actually reporting chain controls right now. there were thunderstorms that moved across toward the sierra as well in the last few hours. we have been watching the thunderstorms developing. we will see the potential for some thunderstorms around here as well. we #r* looking at rainfall totals that haven't been

impressive. i do want to show you what they look like in the last 24 hours. . thrie 6 of an inch and .16 at san francisco. under a 10th of an inch in santa rosa and san jose .07 and livermore .09 of an inch. oakland, .15. much more coming. you are going to notice it. a live view from the lake tahoe camera. just a few seconds ago the snow was coming down and it has let up. lake tahoe is seeing light snow. it is coming down again. 55 in san francisco and 57 in oakland. san jose 55 along with half moon bay. from our emeryville camera, looks quiet now, but it is not going to be like this tomorrow morning. 49 in santa rosa. most other areas are in the 50s and here is a view from the exploratorium camera. clouds are here. we are looking at a few showers overnight. heavier showers for your morning commute and there is a possibility of thunderstorms with small hail. it is an active pattern and we don't have one more wave to

go. we have a couple more storms to deal with. the next wave comes in tomorrow morning. the trough you see here will kick up the intensity of the rain and at 5:00 a.m. we are looking at heavy showers across the bay area. thunderstorm potential at 7:00 a.m. focused in the north bay will keep the threat in the forecast and the showers will become a little more scattered in nature for the evening commute. and then thursday morning's commute doesn't look bad. it is all pretty much winding down pretty quickly. rainfall totals through 11:00 p.m. look like this. a quarter to three-quarters of an inch at the lowerelevations. elevations. higher elevations picking up more than that and that a is through thursday night at 11:00 p.m. winter storm warning starts tomorrow morning at 5:00. it will run until thursday at 11:00 a.m. expecting eight to 17 inches of new snow above 5500 feet. count on travel delays and possible chain controls as well. tomorrow morning make sure you
