state senator leland yee back in federal court this morning. thanks for joining us. >> the bay area politician charged with weapons trafficking took action this morning to stay free on bond for now. abc 7 news reporter nick smith is live at the federal courthouse in san francisco. did yee enter a plea? >> reporter: he did not enter a plea today. in fact, we're waiting on the full federal grand jury indictment and that's when he's

expected to enter a plea. i want to show you some video that was shot a few minutes ago. we were not able to get the senator slipping into the court without being seen, but he speao reporters. he's charged with setting up a guns contribution scheme between ex convict turned community activist and an undercover agent. yee is currently free on $500,000 unsecured bond that prosecutors want secured with property owned by the senator to make sure he appears in court. yee's defense attorney raised questions of his own about the strength of the prosecution's case. >> what took three years that raises questions of allocation of scarce federal resources. that raises a question of

fairness to leylaland yee and fairness to the public. >> reporter: prosecutors are expected to turn over reports to the defense. because of the legal steps ahead, a trial date doesn't likely for at least five to six months. he was suspended one day after he announced he was dropping his campaign for secretary of state. he's due back in court one week from today and of course abc 7 news will be there. we'll have more at both 5:00, and 6:00. families and friends are gathering for a mass for a marine hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver. a memorial will take place later today for andrew silva who was killed last tuesday night while

riding his motorcycle. he had just returned from a tour in afghanistan. there will be a public service in the chapel of the chimes in hayward. police are investigating an accident that happened on interstate 580. a 17-year-old boy died and a second victim eventually drove himself to the hospital and told police he had been shot near 14th avenue. police believe both of these victims were shot around the same time. police are looking for the man who broke into a pleasant hill home, tied up two women and stole their car. the man knocked on the door of the home at 9:45 last night. when one of the women answered, he flashed a gun and forced his way in. police say he tied up the 53 and 84-year-old women, stole jewelry and electronics and took off in their car. it's a 2013 volkswagen pa sat.

the weekend. we still have a healthy deficit of 8 inches in the south bay, east behalf. nearly 11 in san francisco, 12 at sfo, ten and a half at oakland, 19 and a quarter in santa rosa. we have a healthy storm coming in right now. you can see highway one, a thunderstorm rolling through right now. let me widen out and you can see exactly, it has a sister down to the south. these are all heading to the northeast. so watch out. pet alum ma and that area, santa rosa, this is coming your way with brief heavy rain, possibly lightning and small hail out of this. nothing like that large hail they saw in hong kong. ours will be pea-sized at best. let's look at this very broad, impressive looking system. storm one is a cold front today, storm two is an area of low pressure tomorrow and storm three is the mother of all coming in on wednesday.

we're going to have rain heavy at times and breezy conditions today, showers, thunder, smal hail. i've got a spring-like weekend for you with warm sunshine. tahoe you see the snow starting to fall. here we are at noon and you can see the line of heavy rain along 101 all the way down to san francisco. notice by about 4:00, 5:00 it's gone. here's that window of possible drying for both venues tonight and by 9:00 the rain rolls in with another wave. tomorrow scattered showers and thunderstorms for the morning commute and small hail, another wave from noon to 5:00 and it keeps scattered showers rolling through wednesday morning. this entire time the snow level is dropping from 4,000 feet to about 3 thouks feet so we wake up wednesday morning and we could have snow an hamilton and possibly mount saint he will
