bombing will commemorate the one-year anniversary with a tribute ceremony and then they will march to a spot right behind me to the finishing line to the marathon where they will hold a moment of silence. tonight you will meet one young survivor who went on to do something remarkable and his story is narrated by new england pariot quarterback, tom brady. >> as this photo shows, minutes before his mom was set to finish the 2013 boston marijuana 11-year-old aaron hurn was standing here. >> i had just turned the last corn corner and then the first explosion went off.

>> the next bomb went off right in front of us. >> i swore that i could feel it. i was burning up everywhere. >> aaron hern had a huge wound on his left leg. rescuers tied a tourniquet. >> i could see my bone coming through. >> at boston children's hospital, aaron hern went into surgery. doctors managed to save his leg. >> they took us back into the icu and i saw him. he was alive and that's all that mattered. >> i thought i would maybe never be able to walk again because it was pretty bad. >> doing good. >> ten days later, aaron left the hospital. the first thing he did was

return and got out. >> i went to the exact spot and i was standing there. i was able to walk, jump, and run. i needed to do that. >> the next day aaron and his sister abby went with their parents to a red sox game. the whole family sang along to sweet care loline. >> they put us on the jumbo tron. >> weeks of rehab and determination got him back to playing baseball. in august in a tournament in cooperstown new york, he stepped up to the plate. >> i hit it and i saw it going really far. >> he swings and i see the outfielder run and i went he just hit a home run. >> i was so happy. i came in to home and my coach hugged me and he picked me up and he was ballining.wling.
