matt? >> we have good news, firefighters have knocked down fire and they are walking away from the building just to make sure there are no hotspots inside of the home. firefighters credit the smoke alarm with saving the lives of nine people inside. the youngest is six weeks old and the oldest is 15 and two adults. seven kids, two adults inside the home. the mom heard the smock alarm and woke the family and walk them out through the smoke. they are okay. it started in the garage. at least two cars are destroyed. a 20-year-old lives across the street and was not scared but concerns about others and their safety. >> i was worried it would spread so i started knocking on the doors and a gentleman was screaming, get out, and i was trying to make sure everyone was safe. >> the homes are close to each

three accidents and highway four is looking clear, 101 southbound from san rafael to san francisco is 17 minutes. breaking news we are following if san jose, a family chased out of their home by a house fire. matt keller has the latest on the scene. >> the fire is knocked down but it is not out. they are putting a ladder to the top of the second story here of the home and they are bringing in ladders from the pound and going up to the second floor to knock down all the hotspots here and there is significant damage to the home continue by the smoke and flames this morning and check out the flames in smoke: firefighters were called at 4:00 this morning in east san jose and this video we are showing you is from around 4:30 when we arrived on the scene and the flames spread to the second floor of the home and firefighters say it started if the garage, two cars were destroyed and nine people were
