a car has slammed into a bus stop and there are life-threatening injuries. good evening. i'm carolyn johnson. dan ashley has the night of on. this all happened in san francisco on mission street near silver avenue. that's where abc7 news reporter alan wang is live now with the details for us. alan? >> carolyn, witnesses say there was nothing this woman could have done. she was sitting over there in what used to be a bus stop when a car plowed through it about 9:30 tonight. right now she is in the hospital with life-threatening injure rueys and the driver of the car is in bad shape too. witnesses across the street tell me it looked like the car was trying to avoid a rear end collision with the car in front of it. >> there was two cars in the front. when the light was red the other car was speeding up. i guess he lost control. i guess he was not trying to hit the car in front of them so he went right inside the bus stop.

>> witnesses tell me they didn't realize the car struck a woman until they saw her trapped with the wheel on top of her leg. coming back live you can see a few muni buses lined up on mission street. the street i and several of those electric minibuses are being delayed. the investigation continues and we have no time frame on when they are going to reopen the street. reporting live in san francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. >> thank you. we are also following developing news in los angeles where police have taken a man into custody who walked into the l.a. times building and threatened to start shooting. a woman called police saying a co-worker was depressed and reportedly showed her a bagbull. bullets. the times says this is not a newspaper employee, but works at a call center that represents out office space in their building. police say no weapons were recovered. new details about the tragic ferry boat accident in

south korea. the captain and two crew members have been arrested two days after the ferry sank. the cap sen admits he was not -- the captain admits he was not at the controls when the accident happened. the high school vice president was found dead in a suicide note and wrote he wanted his ashes scattered where the ferry went down. at least 29 bodies have been recovered, but nearly 270 people are still missing. tonight in san francisco several korean member churches gathered for a special good friday sermon. one pastor said the boat trips are common at south korean schools, so it had a strong emotional impact on people who are from there. >> it was shocking. it was a power to unify members of the church. >> one person says a family friend is among the missing.

it could be a month until we find out the reason for a death at coachella. she collapsed and then died yesterday at the hospital. the riverside county coroner is not ruling out drug or alcohol overdose and plans to run toxicology tests to determine the exact cause, but that could take up to four weeks. the festival kicked off its second weekend today. >> i'm sure people this weekend will do it again, and i hope it doesn't happen. >> it is easy to get excited about the party and the music. anyone can offer you anything and go with the flow and then you don't know the consequences. >> coachella's promoters are saddened by the death and call it an unfortunate, isolated incident. a street in piedmont is covered in dirt following a landslide is back open tonight. sky 7hd shows us what was a residence and it buried much of the road. city crews spent the day

clearing away the mess and then pg&e took over cutting affected tree limbs. the landslide was caused when a one-inch pipe in the homeowner's irrigation system broke. >> it is under pressure and if it runs all night and people are not aware of it there is concentrated fluey coming down the steep slope and then it makes the soil flow like a liquid. >> it helped -- the homeowner could have to pay for the clean up. a car smashed into a building today and it happened around 3:30 when two cars collided sending one crashing through the front door of the busy candy shop. about 20 people were inside at the time and both drivers and two other people suffered minor injuries. no word on when repairs will be complete expetd store is safe to reopen. one of san francisco's newest millionaires is not the inventor of a clever new start up. he is a mechanic. he cashed in on the city's

soaring real estate market. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has details on his good fortune. >> that building right there is the one that just sold and the auto shop means it is going to be closing down. it is the latest business on the street that shutdown. there was a bookstore up the way here and a restaurant on the corner. those places shutdown because of high rent. the guy who sold this building, the mechanic, he will be fine after the sale. >> he followed in his foot steps and followed his dad's advice. >> he said if you get something you have to buy it and keep it. he would have to move his shop here and there and it was a headache. >> he bought this building 10 years ago and he just cashed in on the white hot real estate market. >> i sold this for almost $9 million. >> it is a building smack dab in the middle of the mission

the woman and her husband were heading home from dinner when one of the teens tried to grab her bag and it was strapped she brok she broke her hip, but she held on to the purse. sphrans -- san francisco police are looking for two men. two men approached somebody walking their dog. they grabbed the dog and then ran off without it after arguing with the owner. pittbulls are prized by some people. >> getting pups or if they want to fight the dogs. they are looking for dogs that have not been sterilized. this dog's owner, his guardian just lost his best friend. >> the robbers stabbed the dog and it did not survive. the owner was in the injured. bart says the train operator said he is going to move it to

a main line track. no passengers were on board at the time. this is the second time in two months the bart train has derailed in contra costa county. >> bart's new crars causing -- are causing controversy. it is the color of the seattle seahawks. 49er fans are not pleased. one fan started a change .org for a change of the color of the seats. some people in san francisco are spending their friday night waiting in line outside a store for new sneakers. that line is forming outside the nike san francisco store in union square. these folks want to be the first to nab a pair of nike air foamposit pro easy. they retail for $150. 7-year-old twins are heros. how they fought off a carjacker with just a toy.

it appears the injuries are not serious, but we are gathering more information and we will bring you any updates on abc7 news bay area. and back to our breaking news in san francisco. this is a eleven look at mission street and silver avenue where a car slammed into a bus shelter tonight. the driver and the person sitting at that bus shelter were both seriously injured. the road is closed now. no estimate as to when it will reopen. an emotional family reunion. abc news reporter ron claiborne has the story. >> a mother inrelieved. relieved. two of her children shaken, but okay. a joyful, but improbable end to a parent's nightmare. they stole the car with the three children inside. >> the drama in san antonio,

this video of a woman who barely escaped as a truck crashed into a grois -- grocery store in chicago. she was buying lottery tech cets when the ford pick up hit two other vehicles and then plowed right into the store. the woman was pinned against the wall. her injuries are not serious. despite the wishes of hundreds of thousands of people, the white house will not revoke pop star justin bieber's green card. nearly 275,000 people signed an on-line petition on the obama administration's we the people website urging the white house to do just that. 100,000 signatures is the flesh hold for a -- threshold for a response. they responded with two words, no comment. abc news entertainment says a guest star will appear on an upcoming episode of "nashville." michelle obama will join the episode. it will air here on abc7 on may 7th. you met the orphan bear

and half moon bay is one of the cool spots at 45 degrees. from the sutro to tower camera we don't have any fog. 49 in santa rosa and starting to feel the chill a little bit. 50s concord, livermore and one last live picture from our emeryville camera. you can see back toward san francisco and looking across the bay. cool to mild tomorrow afternoon and warming up for easter. we are looking at a chance of showers on monday night. do want to pass along there is a high surf advisory. it runs until monday at 5:00 a.m. and it covers the coastline. northwesterly swell will be building so there is a risk of rip currents. this is really late in the season, this large northwesterly swell that is expected. and it is this system here that will bring the swell. watch out with the nice weather you may want to head to the coast. be careful out there. little changes are expected in our temperature. on sunday though you will notice some changes.
