now with free broadband for a whole year. who was stowed away on a jet to maui as he recovers in a honolulu hospital. we are learning more about that family and the series of events leading up to the flight. i'm carolyn johnson. dan ashley is off tonight. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian is live at the boy's home with the latest. lisa? >> carolyn, still no sign of anyone inside the boy's home behind me. but i about speak with friends of the boy's father and they say they haven't seen him since sunday and perhaps he has flown to hawaii to bring his son home. >> i am very worried about that. i am very sorry. >> friends of the stowaway's father can't believe what

happened. the man drives a yellow checkered cab with them. it was his son who they believe scaled a fence at mineta san jose international and hid in a high high an airlines wheel well for hours before landing in maui. in fact, he may have even been working that day driving his taxi to and from the airport. >> very nice guy. very hard working guy. >> but they didn't know anything about his personal life other than he is from somalia and he has a family. the family has been in seclusion . we are learning more about the team's emotions. they told an airport official he had a fight with his father and step mother and wanted to go to somalia to see his mother whom he hasn't seen since he was 2. dressed in jeans, a hoodi expe expe -- and jogging shoes he got to the airport before 1:00 a.m.

>> i am surprised how he even is get together airport and fly here to there and not even -- even for a few minutes it is so hard. i don't know how she thinking about. >> once on the ground in now we, medics checked him out, but decided to airlift him to oahu and then drove to a hospital in honolulu for observation. lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> the head of aviation at mineta san jose told the mercury news that they will wait for a federal investigation before deciding what if any security changes need to be made. the breech is the fourth in the u.s. in the last five years. he wants an audit on the per rim at the security at all of the nation's airports. >> what we need to do is look at these airports and start with the ones that were breached and see if they are more porous than they should be and see what is the culture on the ground among the employees.

>> federal regulators have not conducted an audit since 2009. we will continue to follow this developing story on air and on-line, and our reporting continues on twitter at abc7 news bay area. we are just hours away from a big crackdown on san francisco's streets. the police operation will be targeting the city's biggest hotspot for pedestrian accidents and fatalities. it is van ness avenue between market and gear re. cornell bernard is liv -- is live with the story. >> the crackdown well happen twice tomorrow during the morning and the evening commute. police will be looking for jaywalkers and speeders here on busy van ness. too many pedestrians have lost their lives this year. crossing busy van ness avenue can't be a dangerous game of beat the clock. there is no time to wait. >> it is dangerous to walk because of the traffic.

people have to walk or they lose their life. >> this year seven pedestrians lost their lives in san francisco. four of them were killed on van ness including the person seen on this surveillance video. moments before getting struck by a car. >> we know that those streets were designed not for pedestrianses and not for anyone's safety. >> streets like van ness were designed with cars and not people in mind. she hopes wednesday's police crackdown on speeders and distracted drivers will send a message. >> collisions are preventable. they are not accidents. they are preventable things. >> they support the vision zero plan to eliminate the pedestrian deaths in the next 10 years through enforcement and redesign of the traffic hotspots. >> a big truck barely missed me. it is a little scary. >> they say the pedestrian deaths will keep happening as long as cars keep rolling. >> there is nothing we can do

about it. people will die, simple as that. >> the crosswalk clock is ticking to save lives, but they will try. in san francisco, cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> the family of one of the teens killed in the deadly bus crash and fire two weeks ago near chico filed a $100 million lawsuit today. 17-year-old jennifer bonilla of los angeles was on that bus when a fed ex truck rammed into them. 10 people died. the lawsuit against fed ex alleges the company's trucks have a history of catching fire. one witness reported flames shooting out from under the truck and investigators have not been able to con official that. the lawsuit names both drivers and the bus company for not having adequate exit doors. a registered 6 offender faces charges after police say he tried to grab a a girl from her parents at uc berkeley. they witnessed this man attack the girl along bancroft way on saturday. they say he tried to pull the girl from her father and the force of the struggle actually

lifted her two feet off the ground. officers then fought with olive as they rescued the girl and he is in jail tonight. firefighters blame gusty winds causing a fire to spread to three buildings in san francisco today. it started around 1:30 near walter street and dubois avenue. firefighters got inside to try to contain it, but the flames spread to homes on each side. one firefighter was hurt when melting tar fell through the roof and burned him. all residents made it out safely including a blind woman. people in san ramon and dublin are looking at a serious shortage of water, one that could lead to their service being turned off if they don't cut back. officials devised a new plan for the tri-valley area known as zone seven. alan wang reports from dublin where drastic measures are in the works. >> if dublin and san ramon fails to slash their water usage this summer, the average

residents will pay $20 a month. >> i will still water more. i don't want to see it die. especially if you have a big yard. water the grass and keep the flowers looking nice at all times. i would pay the extra 20 bucks to keep it going. >> it could threaten storage levels for fighting fires. >> we will shut customers off at that a point. it is not a likely scenario, but it is a credible scenario we are planning for if it comes to that. >> the water district is proposing to ban big customers from using drinking water for irrigation. that's why schools like dublin high are preparing to hookup to the recycled water system. >> cities and school districts are the largest consumers of water. that's why the city of dublin has chosen to turn off the water features and the fountains. it will be used only at certain times. >> we plan on turning on the water features at both emerald

patrol which documented this rescue of a seriously injured hiker in yosemite. it happened on sunday when blake parkinson from palo alto fell about 30 feet on to a rock ledge. crews hoisted parkinson into this helicopter and then flew him to yosemite valley where a helicopter was brought in to take him to modesto. the experienced climber is expected to survive. there are many reasons forgetting a tattoo, but there are few easy options for getting rid of one. now a new generation of lasers is hoping to erase them faster and more completely. >> it was one of my favorite bands so it was time to make may mark. >> he paid a painful price to the band ac/dc. not long after he tattooed the band on his arm he noticed a

reaction on his skin. >> it got to a point that the skin was swelling to a point it hurt. >> he was allergic to a compound in the blue ink used in the lettering. and the color is notoriously hrrd to remove and even with commonly used lasers. he eventually turned to dr. christine leigh. >> blues and greens usually never go away. you could be treating it 16, 20, 30 treatments and you are not going to get there. >> to remove the stubborn blue ink they will use two lasers to treat tattoo and the pigmented lesions. the first delivers an ultra short burst of energy to shatter the particles. each is delivered in a trillionth of a second. next dr. lee follows up with a powerful second laser which can deliver four straight wave lengths allowing it to treat

multi-colored tattoo. the before and after photos show the result of a single session which is repeated several more times over the course of weeks or months. the new generation of lasers are able to completely erase blue and green ink without leaving smudges behind and generally work twice as fast as earlier technologies. >> they will go away more completely and with fewer treatments. >> still they can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand depending on the size of the tattoo. for wayne, the considerations go beyond the cosmetic to reducing the pain. >> ideally i would like the inflammation to stop. that's what this means to me. >> even though these newer lasers are more powerful, the short births are older than the technologies that can leave scars in the case of larger or more difficult to reof month tattoo. to remove tattoo.
