dealt with yesterday. leyla gulen is here with the commute. >> good morning, everyone, at 5:00 this morning, we do not have any citizens to report so that is great news. we have c.h.p. issued high wind advisories over the altamont pass and a few the bridges. be careful. we have an area of construction as you make it from morgan hill into gilroy and in the northbound direction so both sides of 101 between monterey street we have lanes blocked off until 9:00 and our neighbors in san jose are moving along on 280 and it is nice and clear and 17 is not a problem ahead. now breaking news in the north bay, an early morning house fire chased several people from their beds this morning. amy hollyfield? >> yes, matt, you can see behind me firefighters are taking a

much needed break after fighting a large fire in novato and coffee just arrived. they are starting the investigation. the fire was fully involved when they got here. that was at 3:15. a detached garage was on fire and it was starting to head toward the home. this was on chase street. a hand was home at the time but he got out okay. firefighters were able to stop the fire and kept it from raising the house but two cars were seriously damaged. it took 40 minutes to get the fire out. everyone is okay including the firefighters and now they are catching a quick break before they head in to try and figure out what happened. they have investigators on the scene. probably they will not get a good look at things until the sun comes up. >> breaking news, australian

authorities are saying this morning that an object of interest has been found in the search for the missing malaysian fight. authorities say it is too early to tell if it is a real lead. the object on the western coast of australia 190 miles of south of perth. a source says it is a piece of sheet metal but no official word whether it is from the flight that disappeared 47 days ago. >> we are learning new details while a teen stowed away on a hawaii-bound flight and why he took such drastic measures. katie marzullo? >> yes, an airport official in maui talked to the 15-year-old stow away and the teen told him that he fought with his dad and his step mom at the family home and he wanted to find his mother

in somalia who he had not seen since he was two so he ran away and hopped into the many. the surveillance video shows he got in the wheel well around 1:00 o'clock a.m. so he was in there seven hours undetected before the plane took off. he was wearing only jeans, a hoodie and running shoes which makes the survivor shocking. the family is not speaking to the media but cab drivers of the father have only nice things to say about the dad. >> very nice. humble. responsible. >> the 15-year-old friends at santa clara high school say he was shy and quiet and right now he is resting in a hospital in honolulu and is in custody of human services department and they are working with the prompt agencies to get him back to california.

the head of aviation at san jose airport tells our media partner that the airport will wait for federal investigation before deciding what security changes need to be implemented. the airport breach is the fourth in the united states in the last five years. east bay congressman wants an audit on we perimeter security. >> you we need to look at the airports, across the country, and see if they are more porous than they should be and, also, see what is the culture on the ground among the employees. >> federal regulators have not conducted an audit of the perimeter since 2009. >> we will follow this developing story on air and on line. we continue on twitter@abc7newsbayarea. >> the a's decided not to accept the offer to stay at the

coliseum. last night the a positive said the lease proposal does not meet all of their requirements and have been trying to get major league baseball permission to move to san jose for five years but the giants claim they have territorial rights. >> city council meetings in richmond known to often drag on beyond midnight could end earlier voting to limit city council members to five minutes each when speaking. that is according to our media pan, and the new rules include other provisions such as limiting members to 12 proclamation as year and putting unresolved items at the top of the next meeting agenda. the rule changes take effect next month. >> winds are blamed for a fire that spread to three buildings in san francisco. it started yesterday afternoon if a victorian with firefighters

>> pg&e is asked for more details before working with the community to c.h.p. down hundreds of trees, the vice president of pg&e dressed the board last night about the dangers that trees and roots posed to the pipeline and says crews need to remove vegetation to ensure access to the natural gas pipeline. residents who spoke say removing the trees would downgrade their homes and they urged pg&e to consider alternatives. >> food truck trend is cruising into central contra costa county and bringing about nine food trucks behind pleasantonly still hall on tuesday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and walnut creek the taste of the world market day buts six trucks between the contra costa center transit village and pleasanton hill bart station from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and serve a variety of food including barbecue and persian. if all goes well they hope to add another day to the schedule.

a man was snowed and he get out okay. firefighters say this was a challenging fire. >> it was difficult for the first arriving firefighters because of the location on a long narrow drive. the garage was completely involved. they had to work quickly to contain the fire. there were two cars in the drive that suffered serious damage but the house is okay and firefighters say it took 40 minutes to get the fire out, and we just spoke with the homeowner who was home and said the flow of the fire woke him upcoming through the window. we will hear from him at 6:00. at 7:00 this morning a big crack down is underway in san francisco to make city streets safer, and police patrols target the worst location for pedestrian accidents and fatalities and van ness avenue
