live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. sky 7 over the scene of another pedestrian accident in san francisco this morning. a man is hit and critically injured at the same time that police launch a crackdown on dangerous drivers. good morning, i am kristen sze. the incident happened in the senator set district at 20th avenue while a traffic crown was happening on the other side of the we city on van ness avenue underdiscoverring the dangers the city is trying to reduce.

matt? >> kristen, you can see the green markings on the ground from the investigation. officers say the man was walking in the crosswalk and hit after 7:30 this morning. this is video showing the man believed in his early to mid-30's was taken to san francisco general hospital in critical condition and now in surgery. the female driver stayed at the scene. alcohol or drugs were not involved and she was going the speed limit when she hit the man. witnesses say neither was using a cell phone when the accident happened. this took place while several traffic officers were doing a traffic enforcement traffic down on van ness looking if drivers not paying attention to pedestrians and pedestrians breaking the law trying to cross the street. this is a trouble spot, four out of seven fatal accidents in san francisco have taken place along van ness avenue. a woman who works in the area explain what happened.

>> the pedestrians are oh -- oblivious on their phone or the drivers are in a hurry and oblivious. it is an enormous pedestrian death trap. >> always look both ways and officers will be in the same place for the evening commute. as for this incident, officers are planning on being here today to see if there are factors like the sun being in the drive's eye to figure out what caused the accident. in the east bay, a five-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot in the eye with a paint ball gun on 9th at 6:00 last night. police say the boy was riding his bicycle with his mother and someone started shooting. the boy was hit and taken to the hospital for surgery.

police are looking for the attacker. a novato resident is explaining why he punched neighbor after the neighbor's home caught fire. amy hollyfield is on the scene with the bizarre story. firefighters have never seen a neighbor punch another before and it happened in front of their command post. they were surprised the neighbor who did the punching was getting high fives. the man who lived in the home is very unpopular. >> could be a lot worse. >> steven was trying to focus on the positive after he and a roommate escaped at 3:15. when he woke up and saw the detached garage burning, he did what he could. >> break out windows in the room to keep the house from burning ... firefighters say it was moving when they pulled up. they raced to put out the fire

they heard neighbors yessing to let it burn. >> the neighbors are polarized about this property. i have not spoken to anyone directly but the neighbors have been talking among themselves and they are clearly very interested in why the fire occurred. >> after the fire was out, he found out how unpopular he is in the unable. when the next door neighbors realized their was burned, one neighbor punched him. >> my car was melted and it was more i could take at 5:00 in the morning. >> i don't agree but it was in the heat of moment and we have had enough of this. >> several neighbors claim they have seen illegal activity going on at this home and they suspect the activity may have led to the fire. he left the scene after he was hit. >> i have had people knocking on my door at 10:00 at night looking for people whose name they do not not. >> our investigators are work on

a cause. they will go through the debris to find out what may have caused the fire. >> they are focused on the debris and looking for a cause with a lot to go through. as for the fight, novato police say they took a report and they will hand it over to the district attorney but at this point they have not arrested anyone. the first lawsuit has been filed in the deadly tour bus you crash that killed five teens including a 7 -- 17-year-old whose mother filed a $100 million lawsuit against fedex. a fedex truck crossed the median and hit the tour burst on interstate 5 two weeks ago. the teens were headed to a college tour and the fame claims the fedex trucks regularly

catch on fire. we are hearing the closest thing to a firsthand account of the everyone credible story of survivor, the maui airport manager who talked with the teen is shedding new light on the experience. no one is answering the door but besee signs life in the windows. the airport manager in maui is talking and he has a dramatic account of what happened. >> he was tired, and his answers were a little slow initially coming out from. >> the district manager of the airport described the 15-year-old's continue after being discovered he survived 5 1/2 hour flight to maui in the wheel well of a plane. >> we got him some food and asked if he was hungry, he

indicated, yes, we got him some maui style meatballs and rice and a package of cookies and a bottle of water. >> they asked the teen, why? >> this was an argument at home. a disagreement with his dad and step mom so he decided to leave. ought teen said he wanted to find his biological mother in somalia he last saw when he was two. >> another big question: how did he do it? >> how did you get on the airport? he says, well, i jumped the fence. i tried to ask him, is this chain fence? >> he said high saw some cars parked and went over and jumped the fence. >> officials had saw the surveillance video say the teen got into the wheel well around 10:00 a.m. so he was there

undetected for about seven hours before the plane took off. despite speakers saying it would be minus 50 in the wheel well he told him he remembers being hot but not much else. >> obviously being up 38,000 feet for that period of time is pretty interesting, and he mentioned that he blacked out so, he must have been out for the whole team. >> right now the teen is resting comfortably at a hospital in honolulu and is in the custody of children services and multiple agencies are working to get him home. happening now in sacramento, state senators are receiving a refresher in ethics in the wake of a collection scandal. state senator yee of san francisco and two of his democratic colleagues were also suspended last month. today, senate president pro tempore canceled committee

hearings and ordered senators and top aides to devote the day to earthics training. he says the closed door signatures are a time to reflect on existing practices and prevent compromising situations. a man's quest to conquer mouth everest will not happen for the second year in a row. he will leave base catch tomorrow to begin a three-day hike down the mountain and come home. his decision comes after sherpa mountain guide announced they will not continue the expeditions and are demanding more pay, better insurance, and death benefits after 13 guides died in an avalanche last week. it was the single most deadly accident on mount everest. >> a local rock climber injured in a fall at yosemite hopes to hike again. this is video of the helicopter rescue. he is 26 and fell 30' on a rock

covering south bay, pleasanton, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. police are trying to figure who made a prank 9-1-1 call for "call of duty," a video game, and a man fell victim to the mistaken emergency call, and officers surrounded the home in long beach. he was playing "call of duty" against someone online and the loser got upset and called sunday none claiming he murdered his mother and brother. the mother did not know what was happen when the officers yanked her and the children out of the house. >> he was shocked. shocked. shocked it happened. he didn't know what was happening. >> authorities have confiscated we his game console and will try to identify the player who places the hoax call to clarify the home that was surrounded was

in long island which is in new york, of course. google is now allow people to go back in time using a new feature, traveling to the past to see how a place has changed over the years using the feature in google maps. in the time-lapse you can see the construction of the freedom tower in lower manhattan, with the street view images going bang to 2007 when google first started sending out a spend camera equipped vehicles to snap pictures of streets around the world. >> look at this video: you can see how much the old bay bridge crews have taken apart, dismantling the eastern span, and you can see traffic has been heavy on the new bridge and some speculating a host drives are slowing down to look at the demolition but the c.h.p. tells us they don't know if that is really the case but they stress it is important for every driver to keep their eyes on the road for safety and good traffic flow. >> remember, always be careful where you park. we got this picture to the

tonight is not so chilly as it was this morning. the high clouds get here around sunset and could make for a colorful will one and send it to us or spencer and we will share it with everyone. we have some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets during the spring. temperatures are started this morning and we are a couple of degrees warmer than 24 hours ago, and most of us in the home 60's and we have hayward and san jose at 59, and 58 in san rafael and fremont, and san francisco at 59 degrees but it feels warmer without the breeze and if you are going to alcatraz look how calm the waters are, no white caps and notice how the emeryville camera is looking to at catarase and the bridge. the high clouds are that so breezy and rain turning to showers and cooler weather on thursday night into friday and right now the weekend is locking warmer and still trending a

little bit dry for the next system. we will be in the upper secretary to 70 in the south bay with san jose at 68 and mid-to-upper 60's the let of the afternoon with local breezes along the bayshore line on the peninsula and nearly 60 at half moon bay to the sunset and low 60's if downtown, south san francisco, and sausalito and upper 50's at coast but upper 60's if most of our north bay valley and we will be in the mid-to-upper 50's at the east bay shore and touch 70 at fairfield and antioch and brentwood. game throw of the series with the rangers is a day game at 12:35 and warming to 65. have the sun screen. the temperatures are mid-40's in the north bay and it is coldest in the valleys to mid-50's around oakland and san francisco. fast forward on thursday, you can see the thicker high clouds for tomorrow and the cold front comes in and it washes out with light rain and the low pressure behind it comes through and that is scattering our showers through friday morning and into the usually afternoon hours and by the time we get to friday
