of the morning hours, i should say midmorning, still plenty of cloud cover. but the plan is for the clouds to break up and have a partly cloudy afternoon. temperatures still on the cool side. upper 50s to the lower 60s coastside. and ther 60s inland. a look at our warmup in a few minutes. >> lisa, thank you. the warriors take on the clippers at 12:30 today at oracle arena in oakland as their playoff series continues. but this morning clippers owner donald sterling is getting more attention than the players. we have an audio recording of what he told his girlfriend, to not bring black people to the games. nick smith reports. coaches and players from both teams admit that the sterling firestorm is a distraction. >> anger and frustration could be heard around the nba after an audio recording surfaced as a man identified as los angeles clippers owner donald sterling

game again as long as donald sterling is the owner. he also said he feels sorry for his friends, coach dock rivers and chris paul. one tweeted i could not play for him. a music person said sorry about his statement and sorry for people who have to work for him. president obama is speaking out, he's confident nba commissioner adam silver will will address his remarks. president was asked to comment during a press conference with malaysia's prime minister. >> i don't think i have to interpret those statements for you. they kind of speak for themselves. when ignorant folks want to advise their ignorance, you don't have to do anything, you just let them talk. >> president obama said the incident illustrates that more work needs to be done in the broader, long, running struggle for civil rights in the united states.

the baby. >> it's pretty emotional for these officers. they are all family members themselves with small children. and to come upon a child that's been murdered by the child's mother is pretty devastating for these officers. >> detectives say family members told them the mother suffers from depression. east bay regional park police detectives say they expect to release the woman's name later today. in san jose a bail bonds man is recovering after being hit by a car. he was hit just after 7:00 last night. according to police the car was driven by a man wanted on a maryland dui warrant. investigate stores say the agent shot at him in self-defense and the man drove away. the man was found abandoned a short time later. the agent is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and the suspect remains at large. a dog owner wants answers after

her blood hound nearly died because a street great had electricity running through it. it happened friday as they strolled along harrison street in oakland. pg&e has offered to pay her vet bowls totaling about $3,000. >> they can't bring old mickey back. no amount of money can fix that. they have caused untolled emotional damn to me, my family and my dog. >> pg&e said the preliminary investigation shows someone outside pg&e may have illegally accessed our equipment, resulting in an unsafe situation. we will conduct a full investigation. it's a day of first in the 2000 history of catholic church.

april 16th. wrapping up a trip to malaysia today. president obama spoke to a group of young leaders at the university of malaysia. the university held a town hall meeting for students and young leaders representing ten southeastation -- southeast asian countries. he was at an event that last bad an hour and told the crowd he likes to have fun on these business trips. tomorrow president obama heads to the philippines, the u.s. and the philippines just reached an agreement to bolster u.s. military presence in that country. coming up on "this week" homeland security in their first network interview. homeland security secretary james johnson will discuss immigration policy and threats to american security. robin roberts will also sit down with george stephanopoulos to chat about her new book, "everybody's got something."

are looking at a major turnaround in our forecast. good thing. we are getting another drink of water this morning. live doppler 7hd. you see the cloud cover over the bay this morning. we continue to hold on to much of the cloud cover throughout the early afternoon. our roof camera. the winds are light. temperatures with all the cloud cover are already into the 50s so they haven't dropped too much. 46 gilroy. it was pretty cool last night with the clear start to the evening and then the clouds moved in. 54 in oakland. 51 in san francisco. here is the misty look from our exploratorium camera where we have a lot of moisture out there in the city. and it's not just in the city. north bay and south bay, light rain being reported in oakland right now. 51 in fairfield. concord reporting 53 degrees. here's a look at the visibility in miles. 2.5 santa rosa. mile at the coast and 3 miles here. i expect it to stay rather dicey

throughout the next couple hours. look how mild we are. remember we dropped into the upper 30s in the north bay yesterday. emeryville starting out with a gray mist, light rain and partly cloudy skies throughout the afternoon a major warmup gets underway for tuesday, wednesday and thursday. but by monday afternoon the inland communities will be pretty mild while we have gusty winds at the coast. here's a look at the dissipating cold front as it pushes through the north coast. we will look for this to fall apart. and the skies beginning to clear throughout the afternoon. so here is the timing on that. 5:00 this morning you can see we have the moisture overspread the north bay, the peninsula, into the east bay and we will take you through 8:00. it begins to break up but still lots of cloud cover. by 1:00, 2:00 in the afternoon more in the way of some sunshine. but it's still going to be cool today. in the 60s for most. take a look at the trend for tomorrow in livermore. we will climb to the mid-70s.

tuesday, wednesday, thursday. mid-90s. but then a generous cool down gets to the east bay, a little more tempered by friday and back into the 670s next weekend. in the south bay mid-60s should do it for milpitas, 68 los gatos and 65 on the peninsula for redwood city. still the cool 50s on the coast. and the sun breaks through the cloud cover here. but still it will be on the cool side. there's the darker shading here in green. that indicates more 60s. 63 san leandro. and union city coming in at 64. out over the hills look at san ramon and pleasanton under the partly cloudy skies, mid-60s for you. 66 in the livermore valley. the accuweather seven-day forecast. light rain, mist or drizzle early and by the afternoon partly cloudy near the coast. and turning warmer inland tomorrow. tuesday looking for very warm conditions. and downright hot on wednesday with beach weather. we are looking at coastal

>> the rubik's cube turns 40 this year. it was invented in 1974 but it wasn't a worldwide sensation until the '80s. in honor of the cube, an entire exhibit just opened in new jersey. it's a first stop on the global tour of the exhibit "beyond rubik's cube." there was a photo of a rather creepy discovery made in an abandoned chair. check this out. it's a hornet's nest that appears to be a human body or at least a huh man head. the man said the bees constructed it on the chair's corner, including a wooden head

that was there. hop hornets dead around the bottom of the nest, none appeared to be inside although they may be hibernating inside for the winter. somebody offered to purchase it as a piece of art. three great horned owls have been reuniting with their parents after falling out of their nest. a park ranger found the owls at the bottom of the a tree april is it 1 #-g. vets made sure they were healthy and on april 17th the owls were placed in a nest near their parents. volunteers set up a speaker to play a roaring at owl let cries to draw the parents in and the parents were seen flying around the tree that night. the next day they were found to be caring for the babies again. you know, if the parents were not accepting those babies, it would have taken volunteers months of firsthand care to get them ready for release next winter. up next on the abc7 sunday morning news an uncertain future

we are starting this half-hour with a look at the weather with meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning, carolyn. it is damp out there. we are mainly in the 50s except toward fill roy. numbers from the low 50s from oakland, san francisco 51. we are looking at the mist and drizzle overspreading the east bay and north bay. visibility just a half-mile, and three miles novato.

we are going to take this forecast through much of the morning hours with the mist and drizzle throughout the about 12:00 hour. then we will see partly cloudy skies. temperatures on the cool side. 50s coast with low to mid-60s inland. we have been talking about a warmup. it's still on track to encompass much of the work week. i'll tell you about it in a few minutes. carolyn. >> thank you, a 16-year-old boy charged with the murder of a connecticut schoolmate will not be present at his arraignment tomorrow. instead he will be undergoing a psychological evaluation. there's new video of the victim, 16-year-old marian sanchez. on friday she was stabbed to death inside her high school, just twelve hours before the junior prom she had helped plan. police believe the suspect targeted sanchez after she declined to be his date. >> he asked her to prom and she said no because she had a new

boyfriend. he just got really mad about it. >> very shocked. unreal still. >> the prom was postponed and instead students dressed up and went to a memorial service. they released balloons in her favorite color, purple. investigators in illinois say a natural gas leak maybe what ignited friday night and destroyed one home and damaged dozens of others in long grove, about 35 miles from chicago. officials state homeowner manage to escape just in time. no one was seriously injured. officials say it could be months before they know the cause of that accident. but a gas leak was reportedly being investigated at the time of the explosion. this morning a man is recovering after having his hand severed by an airplane while he was mowing. it is happened yesterday at the local airport in taylorville, north carolina. he was mowing the grasslanding

trip when the plane attempted to land. investigators say the victim's hand was severed by a propeller. the pie lot told reporters he did not see the man until it was too late. in southern california the man who created a factory is looking to move it after months of fighting with officials in his current home. the city council issued a resolution that considered this processing facility, quote, a public nuisance. this came after people complained about strong smells coming from the factory. now other community are sniffing cash. he sold $60 million worth of -- last year. >> you don't have to leave the state if you want to be in a competitive market. we have several mood processing place that was been build the last few years. >> now he says there is one catch. his factory must be located

within a two hour drive of the fields where the jalapeños used to make the spicy sauce are grown. this morning there's growing uncertainty about the future of oracle arena now that the oracle have made plans to move to san francisco. oracle will need to reinvent itself to fill the void left by the warriors. experts tell our media partner, the contra costa times, one idea is to reduce capacity by almost 5,000 seats to create a midsize venue. another concern is public debt. the contra costa times reports when the warriors leave in 2018 there will be a $62 million debt on the facility and there's already a legal dispute over whether or not the team must help texas payers cover that cost. marin county has received a federal grant to help pay to replace four bridges and fix another. the construction won't start until 2017. workers will replace the

mountain view road bridge at sir francis drake boulevard. and then the cassio road bridge. the bridge on near woods road near the entrance mieur monument. and repair other bridges. >> scientists have discovered a long lost steamship this sank near the golden gate back in the late 1800s. researchers using sonar discovered the city of chester. here's abc news reporter vic lee with the details. >> the city of chester is resting some 217 feet deep at the bottom of the channel just inside the golden gate bridge. this shot from sky 7hd shows the approximate location of the shipwreck. this is what the ship's wreckage looks like on sonar images standing upright. a dense fog enveloped the golden

the annual march of dimes march for babies. menlo park residents have a new place to interact with local officials and meet with police thanks to facebook. facebook page transformed this budding from a real estate office to a neighborhood service center and police substation. it will serve menlo park's bell haven neighborhood near facebook's head quarters. facebook will also help pay the rent for that building. still ahead on the abc7 sunday morning news, some bay area students take on an impressive project. x marks the spot of their school's new library. and here is a live look from our richmond bridge camera. cool and damp, but what about the rest of the day and the week ahead? lisa argen will have your forecast in just a few.

local s.w.a.t. team members have encountered a trip that will take them halfway around the board. members of the terrorist assault team will compete in the warrior games in jordan. they have been invited to train with and compete against the top swat teams and military commandos from all over the world. volunteers in oakland helped make the city a cleaner place yesterday. it was part of the 20th annual earth day celebration. volunteers cleaned and greened at 90 locations across the city, including the lake merritt sailboat house. that's where an air rags filter

we have the fog on the coast and the north by. another look from the exploratorium camera. moisture on the lens. and at 49 trees in santa rosa you are at least 10 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. you were clear and cold. 52 fairfield and livermore. concord necking in at 53. visibility 2.1 miles. and 6 miles here. lot of the bay has a lot of cloud cover and with that the temperatures are milder. and 11 degrees milder around the delta with 5 degrees milder in san francisco and even down to the peninsula and south bay. today another day of average temperatures. it's going to take some time to clear. emeryville looking pretty gray. light rain possible this morning with possible cloudy skies throughout the afternoon. as the clouds evaporate warmup gets underway as soon as tomorrow inland but the coast will remain cool. by tuesday and wednesday and
