and houses. who gives it to them? does someone else give it to them? who makes the game? do i make the game or do they make the game? these are 30 owners in the league. >> the attorney representing his girlfriend says his client did not release the tape to media. clippers coach doc rivers says no matter the source, the tape has been a huge distraction. >> if there's anything racism, injustice of any kind, it should always be from and center. >> l.a. clippers owner donald sterling faced immediate backlash after what is alleged to be his voice in a recording became public. these pictures are part of what caused the fight. it shows this girlfriend, v. stiviano, with magic johnson, this the recording that was also released by tmz certification allegedly says he does not want african-americans at his game. the photo has since been removed from instagram. nba commissioner, adam silver,

did not speak with reporters but says the league is investigating. >> it's inappropriate. a big sign of disrespect. for his employees and those with the organization, including the fans. reporter: another indication that it may be a while before things cool off, the interim president of the naacp says plans for the los angeles chapter to give sterling a lifestyletime achievement award have been canceled. corporate president andy rosen released a statement in defense of donald material hat reads in part, quote: he feels terrible that such sentiments are being attributed to him and apologizes to anyone who might have been hurt by them. he says the team is investigating. president obama is speaking out, saying he is confident nba commissioner adam silver will address the remarks.

the president addressed the issue today during a press conference. >> i don't think i have to interpret those statements for you. they kind of speak for themselves. when ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don't really have the to do anything, just let them talk. president obama says the incident illustrates that more work needs to be done in understanding the legacy of slavery and racism in the united states. one of the nba's all-time greats is weighing in. larry beil has that. >> nate thurmond, you saw him on the postgame show, a friend and colleague but, a block of granite for the warriors in the middle -- from 1963 to 1974, named one of the nba's 50 greatest players in history, and black players like lebron james and kobe bryant say they do not think sterling should own a team. nate gave us his own opinions on

the matter. >> i'm not saying for sure that that's going to work, but i do think that it has a chance of working when you put all these things in the pot together and donald sterling realizes maybe he may not get anymore free agents and on and on and on. >> the nba players association is pushing the league for swift discipline and sanctions against donald sterling. game five between the warriors and clipperses this tuesday night in los angeles. it remains to be seen whether sterling will actually be allowed in the staples center, in his own building, to watch his own team. we'll have to see how it shakes out. could be protests outside of the arena as well. here's a little more about donald sterling. a former attorney who gained much of his wealth through real estate. sterling bought the clippers in 1981 and has then be subject of controversy in the past. he faced a house discrimination lawsuit by the department of justice involving apartments he owned in los angeles.

sterling admit node wrong-doing and settle the suit for $2.7 million. back in 2010, he made news when it was revealed he was heckling his own players from his courtside seats. we'll bring you continuing coverage. hear from magic johnson in sports. and you can hear an expanded version of the sterling conversation with his girlfriend. it runs ten minutes, at abc7news.com. we have breaking news near richmond. the coast guard is reporting who plane have collided. one went into the water, the other plane is trying to land at a nearby airport. the coast guard has crews on scene and we have on the line with us a lieutenant of the coast guard. thank you for joining us. >> thank you. >> can you tell us what happened? >> yes, we have reports that two planes collided in the air, like you said in san pablo bay.

the father of a 15-year-old who survived a flight to hawai'i in the jet's wheel well says he expects to bring his son back home to accept clara soon. the boy snuck on to a plane at san jose's airport seven days ago and spent nearly six hours in the plane's wheel well. today his father released a statement saying in part, my son, like many immigrant childrenning struggling to learn to live in this country. the family says the boy was trying to get back to africa to see his mother. the teen's father says he plans to fly to hawai'i and be reunited with his son soon. a fire injured at least two employees at a burger king restaurant in downtown san francisco. happened this afternoon at the restaurant on powell street between ellis and eddie. a viewer sent us this video. fire crews say it was a degrees

few clouds drifting through the bay area sky. 65 in santa rosa, low 60s, napa, concord. and one more live view from mt. tam. mostly clear overnight. warming trend gwens tomorrow and hot inland tuesday throws thursday. here's what is happening the atmosphere. clouds are leaving the bay area and the lying rain that left us, moved out in the morning hours, and coming our way is this big ridge of high pressure that will dominate our weather picture and bring us a big warmup. this is our projected high temperature range. for san jose, seven days, 72 is the average high in san jose this time over year but by mid-week, low to mid-90s in san jose. that will be the pattern for many inland locations. overnight, low temperatures in 40s, and stars partly cloudy, become mostly clear. suzy tomorrow, low 70s south

sterling was allegedly recorded making racist comments. sterling said, on the tape, he did not want his girlfriend taking pictures with nba legend magic johnson and posting them on social media. johnson responded. >> he shouldn't own a team anymore. he should stand up and say, i don't want to own the team anymore, especially when you have african-americans renting his apartments, coming to the games, and playing for him, and coaching for him. this is bad for everybody. it's bad for america and so i'm really upset about it. >> see what the nba does next. the oakland a's were in houston trying to get some momentum heading into the next series. coco crisp dominated the astros. josh reddick, chance to do damage but pops it up.
