evacuate homes and schools officials say dry, gusty winds up to 60 miles per hour are fanning the fire in the foothills of the san bernardino mountains. smoke billowing over rancho cucamonga. it's an active fire. so far it's burned a thousand acres and 550 firefighters are battling it. they have a long way before they can get it put out. >> yes. >> a welcome sight in the east bay. water from the sacramento river flowing into east bay mud system. this is the first time the district passed this source. >> that is right. it's been in the making for years. as wayne freedman explains live for us this afternoon from the reservoir, it's much needed. wayne? >> dan, nothing beats planning ahead for times of trouble. a good example would be that reservoir behind me, here. normally, it would be full this time of the year. now, it's only 75%. but in june, they're saying it's

halted. faa ordered flights halted at 2:00 today software glitch occurred. there were flights actually in route to los angeles diverted here to the bay area. we can take a look at sfo. we have a live picture of sfo. we understand four flights were diverted and landed in san francisco supposed to go to southern california. a couple that had taken off from sfo and headed to los angeles but we're told to turn around and go back and land. now, at 3:30 the ground stop was lifted but the residual affects could last sometime. we're told now that the delays are down to about 20 to 40 minutes they were up to two hours. some of the other airports affected, las vegas, phoenix, salt lake city. the ground stop has been lifted and the glitch fixed but anyone going to the airports might be aware there could be some delays into the evening. at oakland international

airport, abc7 news. >> laura. thank you. >> a 23-year-old man has been arrested and accused of kidnapping two women in separate cases. police say kenneth middle brooke forced each victim into the car. one woman crashed into another car in order to get away. >> when they pulled to the side, the victim actually ran over to his car and trying to explain to him what is going on. he did the right thing and called 911. at that time, middle brooke got back into the driver's seat and drove off on the freeway. >> police say middlebrook went to a mobile home park and forced another woman to drive him to amma door county. he was arrested monday morning. >> in san leandro, three people recovering from chemical burns after an explosion in a homeless encampment. investigators say a man and

woman were taking hash oil in a tent with butane when it blew up. they ran to a apartment complex the man used a hose to water himself down. a woman ran into an apartment and jumped into the bathroom. a woman trying to help them burned her feet. >> napa valley high school is expected to be back to normal tomorrow. classes had to be cancelled this morning because of a chlorine leak. investigators say a car accident knocked out power to the school, causing the system to malfunction. you're looking at pictures from sky 7 hd of the pool. three workers were treated for inhaling the chemicals. >> still ahead on abc7 news, the latest buzz about the driver who ran off the road with a bus full of students. surveillance video may prove the excuse doesn't fly. >> flood emergency the twisters caused a

take a look at this. a train derailment in virginia sparked a massive fire officials rushed to evacuate people as thick black smoke filled the air. between 12 and 14 tankers of crude oil were involved. no one was hurt the cause is still under investigation. >> security cameras captured a school bus running off the road and into a ditch in washington 40 miles south of seattle. a bus driver, shar smith claims she was distracted by a bee but in the video she appears to be looking down not swatting at anything. she has within fired and could face criminal charges if she was texting. 26 students were on the bus. none appeared to be hurt. that contradicts claims by the parents of a 13-year-old student seen here they claim he suffered a concussion and bruised ribs officials say the video doesn't support that.

>> houston, texas police are looking for three men one investigator calls the clumsiest crooks he's seen in a long time showing them attempting to rob a boutique. something spooked them. one rifle bumped into his buddy the gun went off. police believe that prompted the guy with the rifle to start shooting on the way out of the store. the men are still on the loose. >> florida state heisman trophy winner is apologizing after another brush with a law. issuing a civil citation for shoplifting claiming he took crab legs and crawfish from a supermarket. he told deputies he forgot to pay for it. he was not charged with a crime but has been suspended from the baseball team. he's a member of the pitching staff. he was accused of rape last year but never charged. >> 37 people died in four days from a huge storm system tearing

through the south. first it was tornadoes, now, come flash floods. abc news reporter ashley bridges has more now from arkansas. >> reporter: a grateful pensacola woman thanks the emergency crew that picked up her 5-month-old baby and carried to it safety. 22 inches of rain and about 24 hours flooded parts of the florida pan handle including this mother's home they were two of the 200 people who had to evacuate. >> it was water on the bottom, down stairs. it was water in there. >> florida's governor declared a state of emergency for 26 counties >> we've had 300 requests for evacuations. >> flood waters turned roads into rivers. the parking lots and threatening to wash away houses in north carolina, flooded and stalled-out cars everywhere. >> we had about four and a half feet of water in the driveway. it's three feet in the house. >> this is coming on the heels

clear, mild tonight. warm to hot tomorrow. cooler at the coast tomorrow. and we'll have a cooler pattern for the entire bay area throughout the weekend. we've got a dome of high pressure for one more day of warm to hot weather but here comes clouds. and some cooler air and that will reach us on friday, bringing cooler weather to all areas notice during the day we can develop a sea breeze and gets clouds at various levels low clouds, and high clouds dropping temperatures sharply as we head into weekend. looking at high temperatures for the week ahead in oakland notice tomorrow will buy far be warmest day of the seven day yochld a high of 83 tomorrow. average high this time of the year is 68. temperatures dropping off rather sharply on friday. about 77 in oakland then remainder just mid-80s. that is typical of what we'll

commutes on the bay bridge. traffic has been horrendous. >> it has. here is a live look at traffic now on the bridge. today we asked abc7 news to get some answers from those in the know. >> she joins us with what she found out. leanne? >> there is no evidence but there are several factors causing this back up the bad news is that they're not going away soon. traffic has been the discussion later. at 11:30 the back up extended past the maze the metering lights were still on. >> very bad. every morning. every morning. there is a back up until we reached the part where old bridge was. coming apart. so it was gawker-related today. >> john goodwin told us commuters can't help themselves.

while. >> anything drivers want to look at is going to be a draks. >> he says better, safer view is from the bicycle the new bay bridge has a bicycle lane. in san francisco, abc7 news. >> caltrans figured out a simple fix it says. grease. caltrans placed these canisters filled with grease to prevent moisture from damaging the 2000 rods and bolts. 192 have been treated. there has been concern the high strength rods could become fragile. the grease method has been used before to prevent moisture damage. >> oklahoma governor is calling for an independent review of the state's execution protocols

after last night's botched execution of a convicted murderer. officials halted the execution of a man when he convulsed. ten minutes after given the second of three drugs his vein exploded and he died 23 minutes after the process began. legal experts say it complicates the use of lethal injections. >> physicians are a lot of times not involved in the process because it's a violation medical ethics to assist in putting someone to death. so it's become an amateur option. >> the white house condemned the botched execution saying it falls short of humane standards. executions are now on hold in oklahoma until the investigation is completed. >> a push to raise federal minimum wage failed in the senate. democrats say they'll bring this
