good evening. thank you for joining us. explosive recordings of a racist rant could be the downfall of nba owner and one of the richest men in l.a. donald sterling. and tonight we have exclusive video allegedly of his wife. as claims surface that she too may have made racist comments in the past. here is abc's ryan smith. >> are you a racist mr. sterling? >> of course not. >> reporter: one of his only defenders. >> are you a racist? >> forget it, it is not true. >> shelley sterling, wife of billionaire donald sterling whose rants caught on tape shocked america. >> if you want to broadcast that you are associating with black people. >> reporter: and may have cost him the thing he loved the most.

>> i am banning mr. sterling for life. >> reporter: today court documents reveal mr. sterling isn't the only accused racist in the family. this from one of their tenants. i asked her would you reduce the rent. and she said, who do you think you are, you black -- in court motions for a lawsuit, tenants and employees describe mrs. sterling as making offensive comments as she entered their apartments. mrs. sterling denies the allegation. a property manager said mrs. sterling commented that hispanic tenants were filthy. >> in sworn testimony, sterling would say, black people stunk attracted vermin, and mexicans sat around and drank all way. it was old school visceral like 19th century sort of racism. things that jump off the page when you looked at them and said my goodness. >> did you take a picture of this too? >> one of the tenants backed that up with what he says is

mrs. sterling was to gain entry into the tenant uniits to determine which tenants she would look to evict. before any sale, 75% of nba team owners must vote to force disgraced clippers boss donald sterling to sell. earlier this week, dallas maverick's owner mark cuban raised concerns. >> if we are taking something some body said in their homes and frying to tutrying to turn something that lead you to devest a property in any way, shape or form, that's not the united states of america. >> yesterday, cuban tweeted his support of the nba decision to b ban. sterling. today, abc news called all 29 owners to ask how they would vote, only one of them, of the sacramento kings said he would vote to oust sterling. >> these teams really belong to the fans and to the players.

millions of people stayed awake deep into the night or canceled lunch plans or walked into trees because they couldn't put down "gone girl" a gripping thriller being made into a hotly anticipated film. amy robach sat down with the author for an inside look of the making of one of the most talked about stories of the year. >> reporter: the literary phenomenon that sold over 6 million copies and landed on "the new york times" best-sellers list for 80 straight weeks. and "gone girl" a dark thriller that has fans lining up two years after its release. people have really strong feelings about both of the main characters.

amy and nick. how does a nice midwestern girl like you, come up with such devious people? >> it was pretty fun. >> the can't put it down page turn ter, examines the murkier side of marriage. ironic since the author is happily married with a young son and baby number two on the way. >> reporter: you were a newlywed at the time of writing this. how did that go over with your husband? >> do i need to worry? i needed to be careful if i had an argue not to go straight down stairs. excuse me one moment. >> reporter: the book was so buzzy reese witherspoon snapped up the movie rights. >> ate not good enough for you? >> reporter: the mean character played by ben affleck, the trailer went viral when it was release ad a couple weeks age wt an amazing thing. you have ben affleck playing nick. has to be a dream come true? >> it was really wild.

first the book did better than anyone thought. became this cool thing. i was like that's great. that's enough. >> reporter: now you have a screen play. >> then the movie happened. >> reporter: i have heard rumors that the ending may not be the same as the book, is there any truth to that? >> will i cannot give away in good conscience, gave way the ending of the movie, it's, it is, i wrote the screen play, so it was in good hands. people i think were worried that it would turn into, you know, a musical or something. the film of the summer. it's still just as dark. >> reporter: love it or hate it, the book's fans are intensely divided, some more outspoken than others. >> some are really very happy to tell me at book signings, slam it down, i hated the ending. i was look what did you want to happen? people that like it really like it. it's not something that you feel moderately about i guess. >> reporter: it was your ending.
