26-year-old stephen guillermo wrapped up an evening with friends and arrived to his apartment building just before 1:40 this morning, but he went to the wrong apartment, and was shot to death. friends of the victim's family tell me he walked out of the elevator and over to what he thought was his apartment but he was on the wrong floor. police say he was shot inside the apartment of 68-year-old amisi kachepa. physical residents say kachepa blamed guillermo for breaking his doorknob. friends of the victim did not want to talk another camera but described him as quiet and nonconfrontational and they're in disbelief. i'm told that guillermo shared an apartment on the fifth floor with his younger brother and sister. there will several of his friends here paying respects. he was most recently a student at san francisco state university. reporting live in san francisco. abc7 news.

developing news in the east bay after a deadly shooting led to a crash on 580. sky 7hd shows track backed up this afternoon at crews responded just before 1:00 p.m. they had to shut town eastbound lanes to clean up and investigate a homocide. let's go live to lillian kim for an update on the details. reporter: we're just west of the exit. officers have cleared the scene but you can still see some of the dam left behind. officers shut done all lanes of this stretch of eastbound 580 in richmond, backing up traffic for miles. police say the male driver of the blue blue ford suv lost conl after being shot by someone in another car. >> we don't believe the lone occupant was firing at anybody. we believe that the suspect or suspects were firing at him. >> witness says the suv rolled over multiple times before hitting the center divide. people who live along the

freeway heart the heard the gunshots and shots. >> i ducked. i ran outside. i thought one of my brothers got hit. then we saw the car crash. >> it's unclear if the driver guide from the gunshot or the impact of the crash. as for the shooter, police have no information on his suspect or his car or have no idea if this was road rage or something else. >> trying to determine a motive or if the victim had any enemies or anybody that might want to shoot him. >> police are hoping witnesses will come forward. they say some one some have seen something, considering it was a relatively busy time of day. resident says thank good news no one else was hurt. >> it's sad. i don't know what the situation was, but innocent people riding on the freeway, do have been a -- a stray bullet could hit them. >> in richmond, lillian kim, abc7 news. new details about the santa

clara team stowaway who survived the flight to hawai'i. he is back in california tonight in the custody of social services. hawai'i's department of human services confirms 15-year-old yahya abdi is no longer in hawai'i after spending two weeks there recovering. his father flew to hawai'i hoping to reunite with his son. hawaiian officials reportedly denied the father's request to see his son and bring him back home. investigators want to find out what sparked a fire that killed a woman in east oakland. several people called 9-1-1 to report the fire this morning. it raced throw a home on parker avenue. crews bright the fire under control within 25 minutes. the flames did not spread to nearby homes. officials say the elderly victim was the only person who lived inside the home. >> san francisco police are looking for a driver who ran away after ramming into another

car in the mission district. witnesses say one car ran a red light before it broadsided another car. the force of the crash sent the two cars into a third vehicle this morning. two drivers were hurt after their cars were hit. one suffered life-threatening injuries. neighbors held a vigil today to remember a man who was killed by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street in oakland. they met where williams hotch was shot. many in the group want oakland city leaders to make telegraph avenue safe if for pedestrians. police are offering a $10,000 reward to find he driver who hit hodge. he died after being rushed to a hospital. friends say the 68-year-old used to met them for coffee each morning. if one group gets it way, san francisco voters will have a direct say in the growth along the city's waterfront. supporters of prop b rallied today at campaign headquarters.

they want voters to be able to approve or deny real estate developments that would exceed hoot restrictions. former san francisco mayor supports the proposition and says it protects the waterfront from overdevelopment, like the old embarcadero freeway. >> must protect it for the public by not allowing extraordinary highrises to destroy it the way the freeway did once upon a time. >> the chamber of commerce says if passed prop b will cost the city housing. just last november, voters said no to a plan to build highrise condos on the waterfront. a tesla job fair ended early today after thousands of people showed up, leading to long lines, building capacity worries, even a traffic jam on the freeway. the job fair was supposed to run from 8:00 to 5:00 but after talking with local law enforcement about crowding on fremont street, the company ended the fair at 10:00.

cars backed up on to 880 this morning causing traffic problems. the crowding happened despite the fact people had to get a ticket before the event and only people with tickets were allowed in. last month, employers added 288,000 people to their payrolls. driving the unemployment rate down to 6.3%. that's a the lowest rate in five and a half years so as the tesla job fair showed people clearly are looking for more work. the president has asked congress to help by raising the minimum wage and approving more public works projects. there were some tense moments at great america today after some riders became stuck. it wasn't on any of the big rides. it was the delta flier eagle flight. the air gone -- the stopped working. ryders were not in danger. >> still ahead at 6:00. google's eye ware device glass

firefighters say they're making progress against a wildfire that forced the evacuation of some 1600 people east of los angeles. the fire near cuke -- rancho cucamonga is 60% contained. it scorched nearly 200-acres and burned one structure. three firefighters suffered minor injuries. no word on a cause. a man from sausolito climbed to great heights to protest uganda's strict antigay laws. this photo shows the man standing alongside a rainbow block in the highest point in uganda. the mountain's summit is more than 16,000 feet above sea level. he booked last month's trip

temperatures. >> we definitely saw a cooldown today. live doppler 7hd sweeping around right now, picking up cloud cover, moving in from the coast, and those hats look great but if you're near the coast you need to hang on because we saw winds gusting to near 40-miles-an-hour. from the east bay we're looking west towards the bay bridge, and we see those clouds moving in and a little fog in the marine layer as well. temperatures right now, 59 in san francisco, 64 in oakland. 66 in redwood city, and 65 in san jose. still 70 in gilroy. for mt. tam this time looking south, we can still see san francisco and a lot of clear skies out there but there some high passing clouds. in santa rosa, 66. napa, 63. so upper 60s in concord and mid-60s in livermore. now, temperatures definitely tumbled in some inland areas today. yesterday at this time we were actually now 16 degrees cooler in livermore, 11 degrees cooler in fairfield, three degrees
