abc 7 news starts right now with live breaking news. a big mess at san jose international airport. passengers are being re-screened after they were briefly evacuated because of a fire alarm. sky 7 hd is over the terminal right now. the alarm went off inside terminal b home of southwest and alaska airlines. airport officials say it was a false alarm. passengers have been allowed

back into the boarding area but have to undergo another security check. good morning, thanks for joining us. >> other top story, mountain view still buzzing after a cougar caused a standoff and evacuations at an apartment complex. that mountain lion is back in the wild after it caused quite a commotion. people were told to stay indoors for hours until it was finally captured. matt keller joins us live from mountain view. >> reporter: certainly created a lot of excitement. the mountain lion came to this mountain view neighborhood. you can see apartments to the left and right and behind it and it ended up trapped in the parking garage. this is the usual wild life residents are used to seeing every day. this large visitor attracted a lot of attention from police, department of fish and wild life and the neighborhood. >> i thought they were chasing a person. i heard a lot of people talking

about a mountain lion. >> then i saw it on tv. i couldn't believe it. >> reporter: mountain view police say the first sighting came at around 6:30 last night. the cat was cornered in the parking garage and shot with a tranquillizer just after 11:00. >> he just laid down and went to sleep. again, afterwards he was very calm. obviously he was out at that point when they put him back into the cage. >> reporter: the animal was wearing a tracking collar. they say the mountain lion is a male and was released in the mid peninsula area where he came from originally. they wouldn't say what path he took to mountain view. in the end no injuries to pets or people were reported making it a night to remember. i guess it is okay, nobody got

hurt. kind of entertaining. >> reporter: this caused a stir on social media. it was a trending topic. and the mountain lion has his own twitter page. matt keller, abc 7 news. a high school senior who was weeks away from graduating died in a car crash last night in sonoma county. 17-year-old was riding in the honda civic when the driver lost control and hit a tree. the driver and another passenger both 18 years old have serious injuries and are expected to recover. highway patrol says the civic may have been speeding. highway 680 is back open after a high speed chase. the young man who was behind the wheel is hospitalized in critical condition. >> reporter: concord police are interviewing people right now working on building their case. take a look at the car.

we took these pictures this morning of it being towed away after investigators spent the entire night looking it over, gathering evidence. police say they chased this car from concord city streets down interstate 680 to danville. they say the driver refused to stop and was driving 100 miles per hour. they have identified him as michael holden of concord. they say he hit the guard rail and tumbled down an embankment. holden was not ejected but was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. police say the car he was driving was tollen out of walnut creek. at this time investigators tell me because the case is still developing they don't want to release more details but are out talking to people right now. live in concord, abc 7 news. san jose police are still looking for the gun men in an apparent road rage shooting that

left one driver dead. a car turning out of a mobile home park nearly collided with another car yesterday morning. the driver stopped, got out and argued. a passenger inside the car opened fire and police are still looking for the gunman. new video proved a bay area teenager stowed away in a wheel well. san jose police want to talk with the teenager about his death defying trip that started at san jose airport. abc 7 news reporter joins us from the newsroom. >> i have been talking with the san jose police department this morning. a spokesman tells me they are making an attempt to speak with the teenager and at this point there is no timeframe and only after the investigation can officials determine if criminal charges will be filed. >> with this video it is confirmed. hawaiien transportation officials released the video. it captures the moment a santa

clara county social services although the director won't confirm that due to privacy laws. >> when any child is placed in our custody we work hard to consider all circumstances relating to the child and take the best action. >> reporter: san jose airport authorities say a review of their surveillance video did not show the teenager going over the fence. they admit there was gaps in the camera's coverage. more cameras are being added. doctors medical center is one step closer to shutting down. results show voters rejected a partial tax measure to fund the hospital. 52% voted to support the tax but needed 2/3 approval. they are losing more than $1 million a month. hospital employees say they will continue to urge county lawmakers to take action. officials are considering a drastic plan to reverse flow of

water all in an effort to save drought stricken farms. the idea has never been tried before since the system was built in the 1960s. the process will be using diesel pumps. the water flow will be sent from southern california back to dry farmlands. the project estimated to cost between $1.5 million to $9.5 million. president obama will be in los angeles tonight to accept the human rights award and attend a fundraiser and then will travel to the bay area. tomorrow he has two silicon valley fundraisers. and then on friday he will be at the wal-mart store in mountain view to praise the company for getting 100% of the energy from renewable sources. this is the president's tenth fundraising visit to the bay area in three years. what is in your doggy bag? why one pet food maker is taking another to court. and the despicable way some

the landlord who gave tenants a letter requiring them to have an annual income of at least $100,000 says he is sorry. he has apologized for sending the letter. tenants of the rent controlled apartment building say landlord went too far in making unlawful demands. some paying rent below market value claim they are being harassed. landlords cannot require existing tenants to provide income. he sent a letter yesterday rescinding the earlier one. a 7-year-old boy from albany is in desperate need of a life-saving bone marrow match. he is diagnosed with leukemia but finding a match will be a challenge. nobody in his family is a match because he is half japanese and half german so finding the right

an end to an nfl style prom draft. some male students were ranking possible dates and posting some of those results on twitter. so in a letter to the parents the school's principal says it is not okay for students to be judged or objectified. she says if it happened again prom and other student activities may be cancelled. suing blue buffalo saying it is misleading consumers about what is in the cat food. they market the food by containing natural ingredients. the connecticut-based company says it doesn't use corn, wheat or soy which are potential allergens. another company said it had the food tested by a lab and found poultry and corn. ice cream vendors and other workers who sell goods to

today. san jose, free mont all about four degrees warmer. down south first low to mid 70s with san jose 72 right in the middle. we will have low 70s on the peninsula. upper 60s around san mateo because of the breeze. along the coast mid 60s. north bay beaches about 60. inland about ten to 15 degrees warmer and along the east bay shore upper 60sn berkeley, hayward, everybody else around 70 to 71 degrees. warmer weather will be low to mid 70s in the east bay valley. if you are heading to the game it is a double header. 62 degrees at 12:35. by the time the game ends it will be 68 and then temperature will fall to about 62 or 63 degrees by the time the second game ends and then you are into easy traffic. good luck with that.
