>> other news, crash today that caused a messy situation on san francisco's folsom street. cornell bernard spoke with the driver in a story you'll see only on abc7 news. reporter: it's really amazing that no one was hurt here. the mess from this very bizarre accident has been cleared up here on folsom street. but the smell still lingers in the air after a port-a-potty was caught in the middle of the crash. >> we just had this big old bam. >> she heard the crash and gnaw something was wrong. >> we came running outside, and i looked and i'm like, my god. >> the drive of this nissan smashed into a san francisco construction zone, taking out a giant orange arrow sign ask a port-a-potty. luckily work crews were not here but a chain reaction smashed

man and another gave chase. it happened in san leandro. investigators are on scene for most of the morning. the store clerk says the men roughed him up and acted as if they had a weapon, though he didn't see one. the sheriff's office says a sergeant shot one of the men after he reached into this waistband. the other suspect took off in a car, and led deputies in a chase. >> two tension regions in eastern ukraine are preparing to vote tomorrow. uncentury generals -- insurgents have clashed. >> if you look behind me you can see flags from the european union and the state flag of ukraine. a crowd of 100 people and growing. the dedemonstrateors broke

investigating the accident. the night was art of the mid-atlantic balloon festival which has since been canceled by organizers. nurses, workers, and patients at doctors medical center? san pablo held a community meeting today to put together a plan to keep the hospital from closing its doors. people who turned out this morning say they were asked for help from the coax contra costa county board of supervisors and urge them to find a way to keep the hospital open. >> a lot of poor people do not have transportation so they just stick around and unfortunately lives will be lost. >> voters this week rejected a partial tax measure to fund the hospitals. doctors is losing $1 million a month. bay area military moms whose sons and daughters are serving overseas won't have to celebrate alone. a big group gathered at the

marines memorial club in san francisco this morning for a special brunch. the meal simulates the celebration they're military sons and daughter would have taken them to if they had not been deployed. >> the military we have today in this room represents all of our children. so it's really nice to have that, and, again, my daughter's been in the military for several years and has not been able to be with me on mother's day. for a lot of those years. flexor -- it's the tenth year of the event. the event provides emotional support for military moms how to cope with the daily worries of have are children in harm's way. >> some are marking the day by standing up against violence. cheryl jennings emceed a walk organized by 1,000 mothers to prevent violence. lower rain taylor founded the group after losing her two sons to a drive-by shooting in oakland in 2000.

area without water. utility officials didn't immediately know what caused the break but say ruptures are typically linked to aging pipes. expecting changing if you're driving north on the golden gate bridge. look at this map that details where road work on doyle drive will mean changes beginning tonight when single lane closures will good into effect. then starting at 1:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, the ramp from highway 1 to 101 will be closed so traffic can be shift ted a new pattern. drivers on north 101 have to use the far right lane at the golden gate bridge toll plaza to access the last san francisco exit. this video shows you what drivers can expect. all vehicles in the left lanes will be forced to travel across the bridge. the new traffic pattern is expected to be in place for a month. if you're in those running shoes you might have a refund.

weather. meteorologist frances dinglasan is here and seems like the wind never ends. >> breezy today. we're starting off with live doppler 7hd, sweeping around the bay area so we have some cloud officers parts of the east bay. no precipitation falling. i want to take you to the sierra nevada and loop it over the next three hours. you can see thunderstorms over the last few hours and areas of green, light rain, and even some snow, pink, and the white as well, and here's a live shot. this is in tahoe, in heavenly. mountain top. this is live. heavy snow right now reported as well in truckee. currently it's in the 60s around the bay area. 60 in san francisco, 67 in oakland, and 62 in redwood city. 67 insen jose. half moon bay, 67. here's a beautiful shot of the east bay, looking east towards mt. diablo. you see some clouds there but a gorgeous day.

very breezy as well. it's currently 70 in santa rosa, and we see 70 in fairfield and concord. here's what you need to know as we look this time from the east bay. you can see the breeze causing ripples on the water. clear and cool tonight. warmer for mother's day, and then get ready for a heat wave next week. i'll show you the timing of that pretty shortly. right now, winds have been pretty strong, gusting up to 41 miles-per-hour. sfo, all the winds from the west, even gusts up to 30-miles-an-hour at livermore. here's what is going on. this area of high pressure and low pressure, and you see the air moving that way. you see the tight isobars and that brought us locally windy conditions. tomorrow as the high pressure moves east we'll start to see the wind turn into more of an offshore flow and this helps drive temperatures up. so tomorrow, we'll see the wind from the north and the land breeze will help our numbers come up a few more degrees

compared to today. overnight lows in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees, and some low 50s out there. look for 51 in san francisco, and in oakland, 49 in concord, and 50 in san jose. so, we'll have mainly clear skies tonight. tomorrow, numbers will be coming up and that's the beginning of a trend. san francisco, very comfortable for mother's day. a high of 71. plenty of sunshine as well all around the bay, 74 in san mateo, 78, san jose. low 80s inland. and i want to show you what to expect the rest of the week. so, this is a temperature trend for livermore. the average high, right around 75. we're talking near record mid-week. 97 by wednesday before things cool down again. and i want to also take you to the accuweather. warm for mother's day. the warmer pattern moves in all the way mid-week, and we'll keep an eye on records for you.
