live from the kgo broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. >> it's a san francisco tradition. this year, runners will be seeing changes at the annual beta breakers race. thank you for joining us. we are hours away from the start of america's oldest iconic foot race but this year there will be changes as race organizers and police step up enforce ment. cornell barnard is live. the preparations are underway right now. hi, cornell. >> the barricades are up south of market. a busy place tonight. check it out. howard street is where it begins in a few hours at 8 a.m. work crews putting the finishing touches on the race run. police will be here too keeping it safe and sober. starting line of beta breakers

is taking shape at howard and main streets. it's where 40,000 runners will begin an eight-mile strek trek to the great highway. >> i can't wait to run. >> suzanne and her kids came from north carolina. they have their t-shirts. >> we just wanted to have an excuse to come out here and be able to do something together as a family and we are expecting craziness but we're cool with that. >> reporter: race management wants to curb some of the past craziness with no alcohol, bags or backpacks. no floats or strollers and if possible no nudity. >> obviously we highly encourage everyone to attend in clothes in the hopes of making it more family friendly environment. >> reporter: extra police officers will be posted along the route. half of alamo square park is fenced off to keep out drunken spectators who manage to take it over every year. neighbor michael galardo has seen it all. >> people drinking too much and having to relieve themselves.

clouds moving from the coast. tomorrow at 7:00, temperatures in the mid-50s. mostly cloudy and cool. then we start to see more sunshine by lunchtime and 1:00 it will be sunny, low 60s for you. but the sea breeze will be in effect tomorrow. temperatures slightly cooler in other locations. i will have the accu-weather seven-day forecast coming up. firefighters quickly controlled a fire in san francisco's inner sunset district tonight. it started in the garage and spread to the first and second floors of the home. it took 15 minutes to bring it under control. no one was hurt. there was concern someone may have been trapped inside. that person was later found safe. the weather is helping firefighters battling wildfires in southern california. >> this is one of the most dramatic starts to fire season i have seen. >> it will be a busy fire season. cal fire responded to 100% more

on her front porch when a stray bullet hit her. it came four houses away. two men shot at the intended target, a man standing in the front yard. they say officers are working to find those responsible. >> this has to be the police department's top priority this week. we have investigators in the field. we want people to come forward and tell us what they know. >> reporter: the oakland tribune reports the intended target of the shooting was 47 years old and was hit twice but is expected to survive. a 3-year-old boy is recovering tonight after he nearly drown in a swimming pool. it happened at rose garden park at 5:30 this afternoon. firefighters were able to revive the boy and he was taken by ambulance to kaiser hospital. a medical helicopter respond but cancelled after the boy regained consciousness. two bodies have been recovered from folsom lake east of sacramento. we told you about a boat that capsized a week ago with four

men on board. the the el dorado coroner's office is working to identify the bodies. one of the bodies was found yesterday near the north fork of the american river. eight people were rescued from a sinking canoe today in san mateo county. these are pictures from the scene. eight people were in an out rigger canoe. they were found clinging to its side. they were taken back to shore and treated for minor cuts and possible hypothermia. former santa clara county supervisor is out of jail, but he may find himself back in court. 52-year-old served seven months of a one-year sentence. last year, he admitted to stealing public money and campaign foundations and using the money for meals. they say he used illegal tactics to help a friend get elected to

city council. sfrauns of the missing 19-year-old man with a traumatic brain injury marked the anniversary of his disappearance today. sean was last seen may 21st of last year during his visit to his former high school. he called his father from golden gate park before he disappeared. the walk for sean followed hi path from school to the park. >> a huge community commitment to search for sean. i think with social media there's a lot more awareness that people are missing and families need help. if you don't know someone is missing, you can't look for them basically. >> sean's family is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts. california chrome has a shot to be the first triple crown winner since 1978. >> california chrome has won the preakness! >> the northern california horse's owners and trainers

colonize mars. they are sending four people in 2024. 200,000 people applied. the number is down to 705. the remaining applicants will go through an interview process before the next round of cuts. a massive find in argentina. fossils of the largest species ever to roam the earth reason uncovered. >> reporter: tonight the bones of a dinosaur believed to be the largest creature ever to walk the earth. a local farm worker stumbling on the remains. paleontologists digging them up. this incredible picture shows an excavator lying next to a thigh bone. based on that, they conclude the beast was 65 feet tall and 130 feet long when it roamed the earth. they say it weighed 77 tons.

looking down to san francisco, we can see the skyline and the city below. there were some clouds that moved in overnight. right now it is clear. napa 55. nevada 57. mount tamalpais, still gusty up there. breezy this afternoon. tomorrow morning will be partly cloudy with patchy fog near the coast. sunny and breeze byy by the afternoon. temperatures coming down more. with the satellite image you notice the sea breeze bring s us cooler weather but mostly sunny. not too much cloud cover associated with this area of low pressure but the dry, cool air mass, relatively dry i should say, continues in to monday. that's when we see the coolest temperatures. overnight lows in the 50s. 50 half moon bay. 53 in san francisco and oakland. 56 antioch and san jose 52. so here's how the day plays out tomorrow morning.

we will wake up to cloudy conditions, partly cloudy depending where you are. but patchy fog near the coast. by lunch it clears out. we will see a lot of sunshine but with the continued sea breeze temperatures cooler compared to today. some areas near the same as today's numbers. look for highs in the low 60s around half moon bay. 64 in san francisco. and some 60s around the bay instead of 70s. 66 oakland. 69 san mateo. and the warmer spots in the inland areas will come down from the low 80s to upper 70s. 78 antioch and fairfield. if you are heading to the giants game, bring a hat with you. the sunshine will be out. uv index is very high. near the low 60s for most of the game. the accu-weather seven-day forecast, the coolest day will be 3407bd with increasing clouds. things turn around on tuesday as a rebound begins.

good evening. in tonight's headlines an oakland girl is in critical condition after she was hit by a stray bullet yesterday while playing on her front pork rowe porch. it happened in a shooting four houses away where a man was also shot. her ninth birthday is tomorrow. in san francisco tonight, firefighters kept a fast-moving fire limited to one house. no one was hurt despite initial fears someone was trapped inside. the person was found safe. police say they will crack down on nudity, alcohol and bags at tomorrow's beta breakers tomorrow and added more pot-a-potties. it starts tomorrow morning at 8:00. tonight, nigeria's president says boko haram isn't just a local problem but a worldwide problem. it is the islamic extremist group holding girls captive.

here's abc news reporter rina ninen. >> the centers for disease control is looking for anyone who may have had contact with an im ill man believed to be the first mers infection transmitted in the u.s. this patient came in contact twice with the first u.s. patient. a health care worker who traveled to saudi arabia and flew back to the u.s. through chicago. the two business associates came in contact twice in illinois and shook hands. but what many find so surprising with the latest case, the illinois patient showed none of the symptoms. another case of mers or middle east hess respiratory sin come was reported in a medical worker visiting florida. he flew from jeddah to london, london to boston, boston to orltd. 500 travelers on his u.s. flights alone. mers began in the middle east two years ago. so far, 100 have died overseas and the virus shows no signs of letting up.

friends. >> reporter: this morning, members of the group better housing.org marched to a rally at city hall. they said some rental laws intimidate mom and pop landlords. they said they want to a change to help more rent space to drive down the housing cost in san francisco. rents are shooting up. so are home prices. now the running joke on the street is you can buy or rent, just not in the bay area. michael finney has a look at the best options for anyone looking for a place to live. >> jonas shares the same first name and the same small apartment in san francisco. >> it is cramped and feels stressed. >> it has a kitchen so narrow the refrigerator barely opens. $2500 a month feels like money
