they shut down a section of 280 over the long weekend to repair an old hinge that was holding the freeways together. while the lanes were closed, caltrain decided to take advantage of the time and get their own crews out there and they did extra work on 280 so must-needed repairs and wear and tear replacing the signs. they got some extra work done and are considering it a successful week. they think they will do this again but it will be northbound side fourth of july and labor day. the memorial day weekend the closure is behind it and it is called a "success." >> this morning all but three of the 13 people wounded in the deadly rampage at uc santa barbara have been released from the hospital while through details are emerging about the killer and victims.

the new 9/11 memorial has been opened for less than a week and heard people are scratching their own messages into the plaques that honor the victims. port authority police say that is illegal but so far they have no plans to pursue criminal charges. investigators say 40 messages have been found so far honoring people lost in the september 11th. police do not want to bust a guard and reserving relative but plan to have maintenance crews payment over the scratches. >> on the peninsula, dozens including kids, are expected to pack san mateo city hall to try to save the only will ice skating rink. the planning commission is holding a public hearing before making the recommendation to the city council later this year. it starts tonight at 6:30. the ice rink closed in may after the lease ran out. a developerrenç whats it turns into retail space. youth hockey families say it has always been part of the master
