three victims frr the bay area. they were friends. the young men were found stabbed inside of the apartment where james and david lived with the gunman. >> abc7 news reporter live in isla vista now. mary? >> reporter: you can see students here filing into the stadium behind me and are about to host a memorial service to honor those who died the community heading down the long road to recovery. 19-year-old veronica wiess was a college freshman with dreams of a career in finance. dreams denied when she was shot and killed by a gunman on a shooting spree. her father, an abc employee told abc radio he feels sadness not anger. >> the world lost great kids. >> there were red flags about the gunman that killed six and wounded 13. a murder plot detailed in his

chilling 137 page manifesto. he e mailed the horrific plan in the minutes before he opened fire. but it was too late for them to save the victims. the rampage began in rodgers apartment. police discovered stabbed to death his two roommates and a visiting friend. his next target was a sorority house, an attempt to exact revenge on women he said rejected him. >> i'm going to enter the hottest sorority house of ucsd. he banged on the door. out sigh, he shot three women, killing two. next, a deli. panicked students dodged students and one was killed. >> we're trying to do is understand why chris died and try to make it mean something. because otherwise, it's just so
