consumer reports top pick. the basic gets an impressive 30 miles per gallon and relatively in inexpensive. the hybrid is pricier but window sticker cites 47 miles per gallon. now, it didn't measure that high in consumer reports tests, says the director of auto tests, jake fisher. >> we had an over all 40 miles per gallon but not 47 miles per hour claim by the epa. >> since a hybrid accord costs $6500 more than basic accord you're playing a lot of money up front to save gas. >> just doesn't drive as well the ride is stiffer. braking is not as good. and handling not as secure.
