news, san francisco police are still on scene of a serious accident in the richmond district. a hand was pinned under a car at a gas station at 24th avenue around 3:30 this morning. police took the driver into custody. they are trying to determine if alcohol was involved. amy hollyfield is at the scene and has her information and will have more for us coming up at 6:30. >> the deadly rampage near uc santa barbara, the family of elliot rodger is speaking out through a pam. katie marzullo is in the newsroom with new insight into the killer. katie marzullo? >> the familiar friend knew elliot rodger as a child and said he was an odd child, hesitant that he would shake when he would meet people and described him as removed and remote. he says at a family party he saw hill on street all alone and says he was the loneliest person he had ever seen. he says elliot rodger was prescribed xanax the last six

months and doctors offered to give him medication before but he refused. we know that his mother reached out to police before the deadly rampage and officers talked to elliot rodger and this morning he says that the family in no way blamed police. >> elliot rodger fooled everyone for a very, very long time. he fooled he and his family and he fooled everyone who saw him. he was a tragic figure. when i talk about him i talk about him knowing what he did, he is in many ways a monster. >> elliot rodger killed 60's people before taking his own life. he stab three young men in his apartment all from the bay area and went on to shoot can kill three student and injure 13 others. his mother and dad were driving from uc santa barbara when they got the manifesto and saw the video but it was too late. they heard reports of the shooting as they were driving. his parents cannot face the

to look at the surveillance video captured on the gas station camera it will answer some of their questions. they got the call at 3:30 this morning and someone was trapped under a car at the gas station. the attendant called them at 24th and imperially. they thought the car was driving out of the gas station and hit a pedestrian but new they have statements from the driver and the passenger it is not so simple. the driver was changing a tire. a man walked by. there was an interaction and words my been exchanged. they say the man lied down on the pavement. he was not helping with the tire changing he just laid counsel. then the man was tripped under the car. >> he was like down but we don't know why. we are not sure. that is an unknown. we not sure why he was laying down. >> he laid down? >> correct. he was laying down.
