s. >> good morning, everything. thanks for joining us on this sunday, june 1st. let's start with a quick first look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning, carolyn. we do have fog and low clouds up along the shoreline. in fact, the marine layer is getting compressed and due to that that meaned fog is dense where we have it. coming into the city, also along the coast, is some mist and drizzle. temperatures are fairly mild. mountainview view 57. cool spot san rafael 45. with that compressed marine layer we are looking at low visibility. but we will clear out sooner. the on shore flow is going o decrease, and except if you are'

toast you will experience the warmup. we are looking at low 70s to upper 70s around the bay. low 60s and breezy winds inland he were 70s to the upper 60s. it will be a one-day warmup. we cool down tomorrow and then we are going back in the other direction. the details coming up. carolyn. thank you. developing news oust san francisco with fbi agents are looking for a man believed to be armed and dangerous. authorities raided the apartment yesterday of ryan cunningham and uncovered a large amount of what is believed to be rice in, -- ricin, one of the deadliest poisons in the world. >> investigators were on the poke and jackson street ground level apartment all day. they removed a toolbox from the one bedroom unit and examined it

hit the other two vehicle around 5:45 yesterday evening. two people were hurt. highway 84 has reopened. we now know the name of a man hit and killed by a bart train 267892-year-old tyler warden are el~cerrito died after being struck by a san francisco-bound train near the west oakland station. they believe he was walking in a restricted area along the tracks late friday night when he was hit. the last american soldier held captive by the taliban in afghanistan is a free man. 28-year-old sergeant bow bergdahl was released in exchange for five afghan detainees from guantanamo bay in cuba. michelle franson has the story. >> release me, please. i'm begging you. >> the sergeant's plea has been answered. after five years the only american prisoner in afghanistan is now on his way home.

presidential straw poll. you can catch "this week" here on abc7 at 8:00 this morning. residents of treasure island are told there will be more radiation testing done to verify the safety of their homes. nick smyth talked to residents who are concerned about this ongoing problem. >> it's so close to our homes. and you know it. and you just let it sit there. >> residents of pressure island are pressing state officials for new information about possible health risks associated with radiation contamination at or near their homes. >> i would like to see them take these people, including myself, relocate us even temporarily until the redevelopment is finished. >> this as hundreds of families continue to live in buildings separated by wire fencing covered with green mesh inches from contamination testing sites. >> i'm not sure that all of this is being said. so i just and as many questions

bay area man who started it all. an oakland boy's choir has won an international contest after combining miley cyrus and the human digest i have track. ♪ >> the singers are from the pacific boy choir academy. this is their take on the miley cyrus hit "wrecking ball" called" digest it all." they changed the words to tell how we process food. those are the oakland choir won in their age group of third to fifth-graders. a choir of high-schoolers from sir sir francis drake high was a semifinalist in its division. sometimes being a good guy pays off. it doesn't hurt if you also help

especially along the coast. it is reduce today about a quarter mile around the north bay. here we go with live doppler 7hd. you notice we do have the fog right along the shoreline but with high pressure pushing down on the atmosphere, it is dense. that allows for the visibility of limitations out there. the sutro tower camera. a nice shot to wake up to with temperatures this morning in the upper 40s for morgan hill, and also in santa rosa. so it is cool out there. but we will finish a bit warmer. 54 in san carlos, as well as san jose and in the city 51 degrees. here's the exploratorium camera with some low clouds. 54 by the delta and livermore with the clear sky in concord. so as we go through the morning hours, we will see mostly cloudy skies along the coast. inland it's clear and the marine layer is shallow. it's at about 1,000 feet. not all of you will see the overcast. in fact on early morning sunshine and full sunshine this

afternoon with temperatures maybe about 5 could 7 degrees warmer in spots inland today. we will look for a reverse to happen tomorrow. the on shore flow picks up from a system to the north of us and the temperatures come down. here's a look at the russian insurgents the in miles. a mile and three quarters at half moon bay and the fog extends across the east bay. half-mile in santa rosa. and you see novato not great navigation this morning. do take your time. low pressure heading out. the jet stream well to the north and high pressure is trying to build into the eastern pacific. that's going to bring us the slightly warmer day. but there's another system that's going to move in tomorrow and the reverse will take place. in fact we are talking slow clearing tomorrow and much cooler. so enjoy today if you like the 80s in san jose. 83 morgan hill. about 80 in sunnyvale. and on the peninsula 75 san mateo. coastline no changes. upper 50s to the low 60s with the breezy wind.

76 menlo park. san francisco about a degree warmer. we did get into some sunshine right through the sunset. and richmond yesterday it was kind of half and half. 64 in south city and in the north bay highs ranging from the mid-60s at stinson beach. go further north about 90 in cloverdale. 82 napa. you are warming up a good five to six degrees today. 74 in san leandro and union city, cass vo valley 76. you head inland it should be a nice summer afternoon. 86 livermore and 84 concord. the accuweather seven-day forecast shows temperatures warmer today bay and inland. tuesday high pressure builds and the marine layer disappears. the nice wide range, low 60s to 90s on wednesday. getting wider as it warms thursday and friday. should be really nice the next couple days. we will let you know how warm it will be in your community by keeping track of bay area

washington state. this comes as searchers discovered pings buried in the snow. they may have been stuck in an avalanche. they were due to return from the mountain friday. a park spokeswoman said there was no way they could have survived. search efforts are currently suspended. two children escaped with minor injury after a bouncer was swept away. the bouncy castle got carried away by a gust in littleton, colorado. it went about 300 feet before stopping. one child was ejected from the castle as it tumbles in a public park and the other remained inside. the castle's owner said it had been securely tied down. still to come, a new regulation for uber and lyft drivers. some call it a stiff punch to the pocketbook.

and drizzle. high pressure is pressing down on the atmosphere. we are looking at some low visibility along the coast. be careful out there. 51 in san francisco. 47 in morgan hill. and along the coast 2-mile visibility at half moon bay. here's the plan. on shore flow blow will stay with us today but it weakens. low fog and clouds along the coast. no changes there but the changes come inland and around the bay where temperatures will climb through the 80s here. notice the oranges in red and upper 70s. even san jose getting into the act today as well as the north bay. we will talk about details and our cool down for tomorrow. >> all right. look forward to that. thank you, lisa. a bill that would require more insurance for uber and lyft drivers, even when they aren't carrying passengers, has passed the state assembly and it now moves on to the senate. abc7 news reporter jonathan bloom tells us why some reporters call it a public safety measure.

some drivers simply believe it could be a stiff punch to the pocketbook. [chanting] >> a flurry of fuzzy big mustaches gathered at this office in california. the woman wrote this bill. it requires companies like lyft. >> uber to insure drivers up to $1 million, even when they don't have a hang in the car. >> it is insurance. >> lyft. >> uber provided some coverage. they made the change after a uber driver struck and killed a 6-year-old girl and san francisco and uber claimed no responsibility since they had no passenger in the car at the time. but if drivers around logged into the app, they are on their own personal insurance but if they are logged on, they are covered. if they are cruising around waiting for rides, uber provides a backup follows just in case the personal insurance denies them. this bill would get rid of the gray area.

full coverage whenever it is on. >> i'm concerned it would be passed on to the drivers or passengers or both and that could hurt of the community for both. >> the concern over a shrinking bottom line comes with new numbers by lift's competitors. >> people using their own vehicle can make $74,000, it's incredible. >> compare that to $39,000 for the average taxi driver. uber said it's because demand is through the roof. >> we're doing more trips per hour than eve ever done before. >> but be careful of those numbers. unlike cabbies, they have to take care of thai their own car. >> it's the cost of owning a car and putting a car on the road and it will put on a ton of mileage. >> and insurance is another big expense. the bill still would require lift and uber drivers to have as much insurance as a taxi. >> full time commercial delivery insurance. we all have it. why shouldn't they have it? why should be the public have that protection?

>> in san francisco, jonathan bloom, abc7 news thousands >> thousand of cyclists are set to hit the stage today. there is a multi day ride. it ends in in santa cruz. the ride called a.i.d.s. lifecycle is seven days and wraps up in los angeles. the goal of the ride, to raise money and awareness for people living with hiv and a.i.d.s.. >> parts of sunnyvale will be fogged tomorrow night in an effort to suppress mosquitoes with the west nile virus. it was confirmed mosquitoes caught in the 906 and 908 area codes tested positive for west nile. weather permit being, the fogging will begin tomorrow night at 11.

the mosquitoes pass along the virus when they bite people. in rare cases the virus can lead to death. hall of fame golfer phil mickelson said he has done nothing wrong. he's under the microscope as part of an fbi investigation into insider trading. here's abc news chief business correspondent rebecca jarvis with the latest. >> phil mickelson is at this tournament in ohio, one of the best known pro golfers in the world known for winning the masters three times. but mickelson is in the spotlight for another reason. the fbi and sec confirmed to abc news they are pursuing an insider mickelson, las vegas gambler billy walter and investor icon carle icon. there were trades made in 2011 in clorox stock and investigating whether icon was

>> these songs have been passed along orally from generation to generation. >> at this center in oakland, lecturer dale needleman and this person is preserving this. they have been working closely with the library of congress in washington, d.c. to help preserve folk songs for generations to come. they go periodically to pick out songs from their massive library. >> we have a list. and they send it back. >> then the real work begins. ♪ >> each song is carefully transcribed with the accompanying sheet music. that way anyone picking up the long later will know just how to sing it. ♪

>> the american folk song collection will turn 46 this year. with funding from the university more than 300 songs have been painstakingly transcribed and cat logged. today they are now online for everyone to enjoy. ♪ >> some you might ♪ >> others will sound familiar. ♪ >> and some will sound completely knew. all beautiful in their own right. the online archive is designed to be a tool for school teachers who want to educate young people about folk music, and it's about to get bigger. the center recently received a

a gentle correction. we are looking at the modest warmup today. then you have the cool-down tomorrow. and then, yes, much, much warmer. the clouds will just be a wisp at the coast for much of the first week of june. let's get you the details, shall we? live doppler 7hd where the low clouds and fog are situated at the coast this morning, keeping visibility a little bit tight in some areas. the sutro camera keeps blowing in and out of the fog. the marine layer is shallow, about 1,000 feet deep. it's 47 in morgan hill, 54 in san carlos as well as san jose with 50 half moon bay. the visibility anywhere from about a quarter mile to two miles on the coast. the exploratorium camera, you see how low the ceilings are here in the city. that's because we are looking at the high pressure compressing the marine layer. 54 by the delta. concord is clear, as well as livermore. low to mid-50s. santa rosa cool and foggy at 47 degrees.

here's a look at san jose. time to wake up and go out for the morning ride. a little bit of drizzle too with some of the low overcast. sunny and normal around the day vey and inland but the reverse happens tomorrow as the little systemmal plus for a strong offshore push. big time cooling to start the week. but hold on, we aren't finished yet. here's a look at emeryville. you see the gray overcast. afternoon highs frommed mid-60s in san francisco to upper 70s and perhaps 80 livermore. today most of the warming does come in in the inland valleys with 6 degrees higher than you should be in livermore. 3 degrees warmer than average in san jose, and 4 degrees warmer than average in oakland and napa. very little change. upper 70s should do it for you along the peninsula and redwood city. breezier conditions will stay intact out of the west 10 to 20 miles an hour along the coast. the warming comes in way from the shoreline. high pressure is still situated pretty far offshore. that's allowing for a week

system to come on in tomorrow and allow that cool down. 96 in fresno with sunshine los angeles. 77. low 60s monterey and temperatures around the bay will be warmer. you can see with the oranges here, mid-80s by the delta, as well as livermore. 73 in oakland. out of the 60s. 75 san mateo with temperatures up in the north bay as warm as 90. you have to get to cloverdale to enjoy that. it's a night game tonight -- or day game, i should say, with temperatures in the low 70s at 1:00. then notice still very mild. about 73 at 4:00 in the afternoon. the accuweather seven-day forecast. today numbers coming up just a smidge. inland, and cool back tomorrow and tuesday high pressure builds back. we have 90s inland with some comfortable 60s around the bay and even the coast should get some sunshine with the winds backing off a bit. but awfully windy at the coast and today no exceptions. breezy. >> looks good, though. >> yes.

through within. oakland wins 11-3. they are ahead 3 1/2 in the west. in st. louis a wet and wild day for the offense. the rookie hit a solo shot off of petit. his first major league hit. the crowd brings him out for a curtain call. a few minutes later the game was stopped with rain. a 47 minute delay did not bother the pitch who are struck out seven or six shutout innings. more rain caused another delay. and the giants went down quietly in the ninth. closer trevor rosenthal struck out the side. st. louis wins 2-0. giants struck out 13 times. the regionals, they want to host indiana. he homers off john.

4-2 was the final. this is a double elimination tournament so stanford will play youngstown state later today. the spurs had a chance to earn a rematch with miami in the nba finals. a bad ankle kept tony parker on the bench most of the contest. and down in the north, kevin durant puts his team on top with 35 seconds left. but they regain the lead and ginobili hits the three. he could barely watch as russell westbrook made two free throws. they would go to overtime. in o. t., duncan gets the bounce. puts the spurs up by three. and the mvp tries to answer but the shot is off the mark. san antonio wins and takes the series at six. you can watch game one of the nba finals thursday night right here on abc7. that's sports for a sunday morning.
