live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> a san mateo sheriff deputy killed a teen girl who witnesses say was going after her brother with a knife. it is an officer-involved shoot that many in the half moon bay community believe could have been handled differently. >> good morning, thanks for joining us. the 18-year-old woman shot at the housing complex east of highway one, and abc7 news reporter joins us with the latest. >> i talked with family members

and it has been heartbreaking to watch them coming here to their home this morning. we can hear people crying and they were praying. this is a picture of garcia, from her facebook page, neighbors say she is a special needs child and may have been off her medication when the shooting happened. the family was sobbing and not wanting to talk to us as they arrived this morning. she was killed during a confrontation with sheriff deputies last note. the spay yes county sheriff office says that the deputy shot and killed the teen at the moon ridge housing complex at 9:30 and investigators say officers were responding to a disturb abc call and the deputy believed she was

armed. i heard the mom yelling for help she kid it was a cop that killed her and the girl was lay down right there, and she had her knife on her brother but we don't know if she was trying to kill her i'm playing around. >> another neighbor we talked to said that she saw the deputy standing over the girl and claims the girl was shot in the back and questions why the deputy didn't use a taser but those details are in dispute. we are trying to work out that information in communications with the sheriff. the district attorney is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. in the conversation i had a little while ago with the aunt of the child, she said that the girl has depression, suffers

from depression and usually is on medication but she says that she is a very well behaved young girl and it obviously is very confusing and difficult for the family. >> muni is dealing with day three of a sickout but more drivers showed up for work. more buses were on the road. amy hollyfield join us from downtown san francisco. not everything is back to normal? >> matt, we are seeing a lot of people moving today, they are not stranded. they said expects delays but we not finding that. the commute was better today maybe because of what the mayor said, telling the muni workers they needed a doctor's most if they called sick today and more workers came today than monday and yesterday.
