today. lisa. >> this fire was put out fast by firefighters, but not before it did some serious damage. look at this rv. total loss, and this ski boat, it used to hold 14 people. that's destroyed, and the fire itself, however, started in that field. witnesses say someone was mowing very tall grass in this one acre plot when the fire suddenly started. there was a lot of smoke and the wind was blowing, which caused the fire to move to the boat and rv as well as people's homes. they rushed to the scene, they were not only fighting the fire but also staged in front of homes trooprotect them. those who live out here are very frustrated by what happened. >> i think it was a riding mower, which is what was crazy. 95 degrees in the middle of the day mowing two-foot-tall grass. should have better sense. >> we pulled his boat out, got it out of here. we were afraid it could have

caught his house on fire. but fire department got right on out putting out whatever they could. >> and this, of course, is a strong reminder to maintain defensible space around your home. this weekend promises to bring low humidity and high temperatures which make for a very dangerous combination. you can see cal fire crews are still out here. witnesses told me the man who was mowing the field was questioned by authorities and taken off in handcuffs. it was cited for causing this fire and then released. liven alameda county, abc7 news. >> thank you. and firefighters say dry brush and wind fueled this fire overnight in bay point in contra costa county. the fire was reported around 12:30 this morning. about 40 acres burned by the time crews had the fire contained at 5:00.

looking above the bay right now from our emeryville cam, a warm day is cooling off a bit. tomorrow, iter really going to heat up. we have more with live doppler 7. hi, francis. >> we'll see temperatures reach 100, even above that tomorrow. for now, live doppler 7 is showing us the low coastal clouds mainly off the coast, starting to spill into the bay just a bit. here are the highs for today. notice up, uchit reached 102, and along the coast is where things stayed cool. 63 in half moon bay, but 90s in fairfield, concord, and antioch. tomorrow, things are going to warm up. we'll see a few more neighborhoods reach 100 or plus. i'll lettia know what your neighborhood temperature will be. it's also a spare the air day, and i'll have the seven-day forecast, when you can expect things to cool down.

>> those high temperatures francis just mentioned have prompted a spare the air alert for tomorrow. it will be the fourth since the start of may. the first three came in the heat wave we saw last month. officials have incurred people not to drive. they expect high levels of smog in the bay area. you can keep track on twitter. a fiefr in hayward at a metal recycling plant threw heavy smoke into the air this afternoon. so bad, firefighters issued a shelter in place for nearby residents. what was burning was a big pile of appliances. they went up in flames. firefighters are lifting each appliance off the pile in order to get to the source of the fire. high hopes for a triple crown ended today, just a few horse lengths short. >> it won't be a triple crown this year. it's going to be close. it's going to be very close, and tonalist got there.

a surprise halt to an investigation into pg&e by the state public utilities commission has san bruno officials fuming tonight. they're looking into the disappearance of thousands of pg&e records. they refused to turn over the information regarding the records, and they ended the investigation. they were angry they were let off the hook. >> we believe that has every likelihood of once again demonstrating not only the dysfunction within the company and its failure to regulate appropriately, but evidence of a too cozy relationship between the utility and the regulator. >> poor record keeping was the main factor in the 2010 pipe

explosion and fire which killed eight people. today in san francisco, calls for california bay's salter farms to recall chicken blamed for salmonella poisoning. they say foster farms is using so many antibiotics that a strain of antibiotic's resistant almunella has developed and led to people getting sick since last year. no deaths have been reported but the centers for disease control says there's evidence that links the outbreak to foster farm's processing centers in california. >> we think they have an obligation to show that they're us agten biotics safely, and they haven't done that. >> the thing people have to understand about salmonella, if you handle the chicken brau en , if you cook it to 165 degrees, there's no chance of illness. that said, we're working to
