air day, 86 at 4:00. inland the north bay isn't going to be quite as warm. the 100 degree temps will be in the east bay valley. along the coast, the sea breeze will develop, the clouds will also develop. you'll hit the upper 60s before cooling into the upper 50s this evening. we have got some b.a.r.t. delays. now that's resulting in system wide delays of about 20 minutes. muni is on time, we had a delay at third and hudson. let's look at your commute out at the central valleys. in fact let's look at the drive time here. just under 50 minutes westbound for the central valley. still looking pretty good across the golden gate bridge.

. it's 6:01 now. we have breaking nud ing news on francisco. a fire broke out at a dry-cleaner's near third and hudson. the fire then spread to a nearby construction site. firefighters managed to get the fire under control and they're on the scene right now to make sure there are no flare-ups, no injuries are reported. now to the south bay, where outgoing mayor will announce an enzorsment. >> mayor reid has been very popular around eelection time. will his endorsement pay off for sam lacardo. mayor reid says lacardo has been instrumental in turninging the city around saving the city over $100 million that.

6:03 now. conflicting accounts over who caused a traffic accident involving oakland mayor jean quan. it happened around 5:30 yesterday evening at market and 26th street. the driver of the altima insists the accident was not her fault and that she had the green light. this crash comes days after quan was caught using her phone on two separate occasions while behind the wheel. on her facebook page, the mayor it appeared everyone was all right and their well-being was my first priority. this morning, we're learning more details about that shooting rampage at a las vegas shopping center. police say a married couple opened fire and killed three

people before taking their own lives. the las vegas review journal newspaper reports this morning police searched the apartment of that couple, among the items found, swastika symbols. >> reporter: authorities say it was an ambush. two police officers were eating lunch at a pizzaria inside this shopping center when a man and a woman opened fire. >> what precipitated this event, we do not know. my officers were simply having lunch. >> reporter: one of the officers shot back, but both cops, 42-year-old allen beck and 32 year igor soto were killed. >> made a statement, something to the effect of, this is a revolution. >> reporter: witnesses say the male shooter repeated those

words and then the man and woman fled across the street to a walmart. >> i saw the gun was in their hands and he just told me to tell the cops that it was a revolution. >> reporter: inside the walmart, a third person shot and killed. police rushed to the scene. officers entered the store from the back and discovered the body. some officers entered from the back and encountered the suspect and exchanged gun fire. then according to police the man and woman carried out a suicide pact. preliminary appears the female suspect shot the male suspect then took her own life. >> reporter: overnight police searched an apartment that belonged to one or both of the suspects. police still don't have a motive. 6:06. back here in the bay area, happening today, the pleasant hill city council will consider making a changes to a zoning ordinance that will incorporate restrictions on where gun stores

can operate. gun stores can not be within 150 feet of a home, 500 feet of a park or 1,000 feet of a daycare or school. according to our media partner, officials say those limitations are still in place. it's just now making those limitations part of a zoning order dance. also happening today, a trial will get under way that could change the rules of the game at ncaa sports. at issue, the ncaa ban on paying college athletes beyond sports that will bring in millions of dollars for university. the ncaa says the current system protects the amateur nature of college sports and education is the central mission of student there' athletes. people are invited to a public hearing to discuss the closure of dr.'s medical center in san pablo.

voters last month rejected a proposal to fund the hospital. members of the community are encouraged to attend today's meeting and make comments. the public hearing is set for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. governor jerry brown declared a brout emergency just about five months ago and asked californians to use 20% less water. but records show not everyone is doing their part. water records show that customers are only conserving a little bit. in san francisco, customers have only scaled back about 8%. officials say conservation efforts are just now kicking in. state officials say the real test will be this summer. >> we're in the low to mid 60s down in the south bay.

good monday morning, everyone, 6:13 on the abc 7 morning news. a live look from our camera down towards san francisco. a little bit of cloud cover, haze over the bay area, some worry it's going to heat up again, so you'll be able to fry eggs on the sidewalk once again. that's a myth, mike will tell you more about that. new details about army sergeant bowe bergdahl's five years as a prisoner of war in

afghanistan. the wall street journal is reporting he's declining to speak to his family. u.s. officials say it's not unusual for someone held in captivity for so long to be withdrawn. he was beaten and put in a metal cage for weeks at a time. there's word bergdahl's parents have received serious threats since his controversial release. fbi agents have been called in to investigate. bergdahl was traded for five taliban militants. a military dog whose handler was killed in afghanistan has been adopted by the fallen marine's family. a special ceremony was held over the weekend at camp hend pendleton for the family of christopher diaz. officials say she was the most experienced dog handler in the marine corps. he died back in 2011 and his family recently asked if they could adopt his military dog dino.

whether we'll get any kind of a cooldown today. the 68th annual tony awards took place last night with host hugh jackman. >> weatherman dances. >> he's a music man. >> the awards show had a first-time win for bryan cranston. and a record win for a former star of private practice. some of the other big winners won the tony for big play. emmy award winner neil patrick harris won and jesse miller won best lead actress in a musical. >> a 24-year-old black belt from las vegas is the newly crowned miss usa. mia sanchez is a fourth degree black belt in tae kwon do. she answered questions about tin creasing number of campus rates throughout the country.

the bay bridge. >> we'll continue to follow breaking news we first brought you at 4:30. san francisco firefighters remain at the scene of a stubborn fire of a dry-cleaning business in the bay view. amy hollyfield has been talking with crews, joining us live now. >> mcafee's dry-cleaning service is supposed to be opening for business right now. in fact the owner is here, he just turned the lights on, but he's not going to be open today for business. he's trying to figure out how much damage he's got to deal what. he's been here for 19 years and he doesn't know what caused this fire and he downtown yet know the extent of the damage. firefighters got here just after 3:30 this morning. they believe it started in the back of the building. there is an apartment unit in the back of the building so firefighters had to get up and in there and search it. no one was in that unit. there's also a well known deli next door, constance's, it's

been here for 58 years, the owner said his heart sank when he walked up this morning and saw the smoke. >> when you're here for 58 years, you don't want to lose it. >> reporter: the deli is okay, he's not sure if he will be opening today. on the other side of the cleaners, there is a construction site, this fire did spread to that side and did a little bit of damage before firefighters got it under control. it took them about 30 minutes to get this knocked down. they had just reopened third street to traffic and muni's t-line is running just fine through here, it is normal. but investigators will be on the scene throughout the morning trying to figure out what caused this fire. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. san francisco muni officials say service will be running as

normal today despite a breakdown in talks over the weekend. contract talks stalled saturday when both sides called off a session with the arbitrator. three days of sickouts last week left thousands of bay area riders stranded. muni is giving union workers until sunday to reach a deal. market center in san francisco is reopened to traffic this morning after a series of hit and run accidents forced police to close the busy street for hours. witnesses say a driver hit two pedestrians, a muni bus, parked cars and even a building. one of the pedestrians suffered life-threatening injuries. so far no sign of the driver. new this morning, oakland police are also investigating on accident in which a pedestrian was hit by one of their overs, it happened around 10:30 last night near international

boulevard and 84th avenue. police say a pedestrian was crossing the street when they were hit. that person was take on the the hospital after complaining of pain. no word on the condition. investigators say the officer was not responding to a call when the accident happened. this morning oakland police are looking into who is to blame for causing a traffic accident involving mayor jean quan. in a statement on her facebook page, mayor quan says she was between events when she was hit by a nissan altima. but the driver of the altima said that quan ran a red light. >> the collision comes just days after quan was caught using her phone while driving on two separate occasions. a little girl in san jose is

hospital'sed after police say she fell four stories out a window. investigators were told the 5-year-old girl fell through a screen and landed in some brushes. paramedics rushed her to the hospital and they're treating the fall as an accident. a new poll by abc news and "the washington post" finds that 7 in ten democrats now they sailed back hillary clinton as their candidate for president if she runs in 2016. diane sawyer spoke exclusive with clinton about her prospects. when pushed about when she l make her decision to run, she was coy, saying she was operating on her own timetable. >> i want to get through this year, travel around the country, sign books, and help in the midterm elections in the fall and then take a deep breath and go through my pluses and minuses about what i will and will not be thinking about as i make the

it's 6:45. the race for san jose mayor is heating up this morning. >> outgoing mayor chuck reid plans to officially throw his weight behind one of the candidate this is morning. matt keller is live at city hall. >> reporter: mayor reid's endorsement shouldn't come as a surprise, there were allies on the city council, especially for the fiscal reforms that were implemented over the past three years. the endorsement will become official at a press conference. this comes after sam lacardo placed second last week. the mayor says lacardo has been instrumental in turning the city around, including the fiscal reforms that saved the city over $100 million. that includes the reform

that's still going to stay hot today. but i think yesterday was the hottest day as we talked about friday it would be. here's a look from the east bay hill. it is a spare the air day, what you don't see right here, because it's just to the north of alcatraz is a finger of fog as the sea breeze is trying to redevelop today. hazy sunshine, near record warm. the sea breeze develops even more so tomorrow, and then the marine layer comes in wednesday and thursday, then you'll really know the cooling is here. here's that follow rolling across parts of san francisco and right across the golden gate and that's why places like redwood city, 11 degrees cooler today. san rafael from 100 degrees down to 90. freemont 85. five degrees cooler, season jose only drops three.
