it is the interview that had millions talking overnight. hillary clinton's most wide-ranging sitdown. since leaving the state department. >> she sat down exclusively with abc's diane sawyer, she answered questions on everything, from the consulate attack in benghazi to monica lewinsky. abc's tahman bradley has the latest reaction. >> reporter: with her new book, "hard choices," out today, hillary clinton is talking about a possible run for president in 2016. the former secretary of state told abc's diane sawyer that the constant republican criticism of her handling of the benghazi terror attack gives her greater incentive of seeking the white house. >> we got to be in the majors. and i view this as a diversion from the hard work that the congress should be doing about the problems facing our country and the world. >> reporter: u.s. ambassador chris stevens and three other americans were killed. diane asked clinton if she could have done anything more personally to prevent the attack? >> i'm not equipped to sit and

washington, thank you for that. later this morning, we'll hear much more from hillary clinton, she sits down for a live one-on-one with robin roberts on "good morning america." breaking news overnight, from afghanistan, five u.s. troops have been killed in a friendly fire incident. it happened during an air strike in a southern part of the country yesterday, the names and hometowns of those who have died have not been released. breaking news out of iraq the second largest city, militants have overrun government headquarters and other key buildings in the northern city of mosul, also torching several police stations. the firefighters are believed to be a group affiliated with al qaeda. also, breaking now, a new airport attack in pakistan, gunmen attacking the karachi airport security training center, just a day after a bloody and fiery attack inside the country's busiest airport. the death toll from the first

attack has now risen to three dozen. we'll continue to stay on top of all these breaking stories. we are learning chilling new details about the husband and wife terror team who went on a shooting rampage in las vegas over the weekend. >> two police officers and a civilian were killed. and now, an outpouring of support at the crime scene. remembering those three victims. but this morning, some friends of the killers are feeling a profound sense of guilt. abc's ryan owens has the latest. >> reporter: faces of hate. jerad and amanda miller. he was 31. she just 22. police said they were heavily armed and hell-bent on murdering police. >> we believe that they equate government and law enforcement fascism. >> reporter: at 11:22 sunday morning, the young couple entered this pizza restaurant and ambushed two police officers as they ate lunch. they killed both men, draping their bodies with a "don't tread on me" flag, pinning a swastika on them and a note that read,

"the revolution has begun." they took the officers' guns and ran to this walmart. five minutes later at 11:27, an armed civilian confronted them amanda miller shot and killed him. then as police moved in, the couple carried out a suicide pact. some of the couple's closest friends here in las vegas say they actually talked about killing cops all the time. but no one bothered to call police. >> i got five deaths on my shoulders. i should have called the cops. >> reporter: in april, the millers joined the standoff at the cliven bundy cattle ranch. here's jerad talking to nbc affiliate krnv. >> i feel sorry for any federal agents that want to come in here and try to push us around. >> reporter: bundy's son says the couple was asked to leave, because jerad miller was, quote, very radical.

lawsuit and work to finalize the sale of the team. his attorney said he changed his mind when the nba refused to revoke its fine and lifetime ban against him because of racist comments. thousands of homes outside of bend, oregon, remain threatened right now by a pair of out-of-control wildfires, about 50 homes remain under evacuation notices. but another 2,000 face a potential threat. the fires have ripped through nearly ten square miles. only 25% are contained according to the investigators, they say those fires are human caused. but they're stopping short of calling them arson. while cooler weather in the west should help firefighters, storms, some of them will blanket the entire eastern half of the u.s. thunderstorms will rumble across the upper plains. >> temperatures will be in the 70s across the country's upper half. through the midwest, 80 in the south. phoenix should hit 110 degrees. all right, angry protests in brazil are showing no signs of stopping with just two days until the start of the world cup.

welcome back. welcome back. a new report is calling cyber crime a growth industry, it says cyber attacks cost the global economy $400 billion a year. and that number is only going to rise. the report also estimates it cost the u.s. economy up to 200,000 jobs. the authors say that cyber attacks follow a simple rule -- go where the money is. sam's club will soon be offering a new high-tech smartcard. it says it will make customers more secure. in about two weeks, it will become the first national retailer to offer credit cards that use both a magnetic strip and an embedded microchip to store data needed to verify a transaction. the fda has finalized new

parts of california got so hot yesterday you could literally see the temperature rise. check out this sign in walnut creek, east of oakland, at 1:06 in the afternoon it read 102 degrees. just three minutes later, it registered 103 degrees. luckily, it should be cooler today, cooling california's coastal areas, reaching only into the 70s and 80s. all right, we'll take a look at the morning road conditions, thunderstorms will create wet and even flooded roads across nearly the entire eastern half of the u.s., from missouri to maine, and down into florida, rain will also wet roads across the upper plains. if you're flying, airport delays are possible in new orleans and houston. back to the news. a five-hour police chase and standoff in southern california has ended peacefully. >> it all started when police

tried to arrest a 41-year-old on an outstanding warrant, perez took off, leading police on a high-speed chase, that eventually ended in this san fernando valley neighborhood. armed with a rifle, perez rolled from house to house, triggering a lockdown of a half a dozen schools. and the evacuation of nearby homes. >> when i turned around, i saw him fumbling in the car and came out with the rifle. that's when i ducked. and when i looked back up, as the lapd pulled out in front of me, then i saw him running down the street with the rifle. >> perez then barricaded himself inside a house. s.w.a.t. teams smoked him out with tear gas. perez faces more than half a dozen felony charges. and watch what happened when a woman in arizona was playing an online game streaming to a worldwide audience. robbers broke into her apartment and were seen on her webcam. one person watching in europe, called police. at least one man was taken into custody after telling police he was a victim.

then trying to run. a climber on the road to the recovery after taking a dangerous tumble on a mountain in washington state. they were about 9,000 feet up. when she slid about 800 feet, she suffered serious injuries. her friend called 911. gutsy winds kept the rescuers from reaching them. they had to spend another night in the cold. she suffered a broken rib, arm and cheekbone. but she says it could have been much worse. a texas teenager is also recovering this morning after a shark attack in galveston, the 14-year-old girl was in waist-deep water when the shark chomped down, leaving teeth marks on her back. she could actually hear the shark exhaling before the bite. surprisingly she said it wasn't really that painful. >> i felt something on my back. i didn't really feel the teeth, just like something knocked into me. >> there was nothing. i felt so lucky, i said you're fine, you're fine. yes, you got bitten by a shark, but you're fine. >> if you can believe it, the teen didn't even go to the emergency room, a doctor who

who could it be? >> i wonder? we have quiet conditions. we have construction around the bay area. first, though, 580 westbound tracy to dublin is 23 minutes. highway four antioch to concord is 15 minutes and 101 southbound from san rafael to san francisco is 18 minutes. san jose along 101 up to the san jose airport if you have a flight to catch you are not delayed. we have clear conditions. no construction. that is 880 headed in the northbound and southbound direction and moving along fine. >> developing news, an amber alert for three east bay children is canceled aft they were found safe. that is one aspect of the baffling case. another of involves a murder investigation. amy hollyfield explains. >> police are still actively working this case in san pablo.

they keeping the details under wraps. this is an active investigation. they found all three children safe. they were found at 11:30 in richmond. they are okay. the amber alert for the 12-year-old, the six-year-old, and three-year-old have been canceled. their mother, 35-year-old alicia ortez was also found last night. she is considered a suspect in the disappearance or was categorized as of yesterday. i asked police if she is in custody. they say they can't or don't want to say. the amber alert was issued monday morning when the children's father was found shot to death at their home in san pablo in the back yesterday. the kids were gone and so was the mother. neighbors described the dad, oscar, a
