president obama just two months ago along with a white house task force called on campuses to crack down on campus sexual assault. students are complaining stanford wasn't tough enough on a senior accused of rape they rallied outside of a meeting the university sexual assault policy is not on the agenda so students say this is a symbolic way of putting pressure on the faculty senate to change a policy created four years ago. the senior wants her name to be used she says she's a victim of a sexual assault. normally, abc7 news protects identities of victims. she says the assault occurred on new year's day, home in juneau, alaska. she filed a police report the district attorney in juneau says the case remains under investigation. ex-puts -- they decided to postpone the student's

enrollment in graduate school until to 16. >> they're claiming that my past sexual relationship with my assailant is a mitigating factor. their actions imply the man who raped me is a danger to me, not to the rest of the student body >> stanford etch plained the policy was intended to empower victims to step forward. stanford says it is in compliance with title nine law on sexual assaults occurring on, or off, campus, however, students believe stanford must join several other universities in making punishment fit the crime. >> do you think it changes policy? >> i hope so. i will be disillusioned if they don't. >> students will come out here because they support it. it's important. >> san jose criminal attorney steve clark is a former prosecutor concerned policies put others at risk. sexual assault is a very serious

they want to be sure that file the right ones. >> charn wood is a board member of the park improvement club, sending out copies to residents. a letter addressed to district attorney george gascone saying they're apalled by the decision to drop the charges against two burglary suspects. it happened on the morning of april 30th, here at a home on marietta street. a neighbor saw two men in a car parked in front of the house he heard noises in the back. he decided to call 911. officers quickly responded and captured two men. everything went the way it should have. >> but d.a.told the homeowner no charges were filed against the two men. the da's decision is galvanizing the neighborhood. debbie shea says home burglaries could be violent. >> there is a possibility of mothers being home with young children, taking a nap into afternoons, when this occurred.

>> how can we possibly ask people to call the police when they see sus spishus activity? when something like this happens and everything knows about it. >> the spokesman told abc7 news that the case has not been dropped, that it's still under investigation. >> we need to make sure evidence is in place. thoroughly, completely prior to charging this case to make sure charges reflect the crime. he says two were aested before taking anything from the home, charging them with trespassing would be a misdemeanor. if they could, they'd go with a serious felony like burglary. >> we have new details on a grass fire burning in solano county. it's 80% contained now the fire burned 70 acres north of vacaville, threatening homes but crews managed to stop the progress the first, fire first reported off rolling hills lane.

in marin county a wildfire burned a remote area of samuel p taylor state park. the fire is now 80% contained. the cause is unknown. >> and heavy delays on amtrak capitol route running between sacramento and oakland. an hour and a half ago a train hit and killed a person just as entering richmond station officials say the victim was trespassing and no one on the train was hurt. officials say there will be delays up to 90 minutes for the next few hours. >> oakland police arrested three people expected in a series of armed robbery, officers say they're connected to this car, spotted on 580 freeway. it's a huge response, two men and a woman taken into custody. police actually phoned one

victim right at the scene to tell them about the arrest. very nice of them to do that. the suspect arrested in a brutal car jacking of an 89-year-old woman made a court appearance today, charged with felonies including assault for a violent incident sunday. this is video showing the camery leaving a cvs parking lot. police say hardy sole the car after knocking that elderly woman to the ground, breaking her collar bone and ribs and left her unconscious. police found that car not far from where hardy was arrested last night. >> well, coming up next we're going to check in with a man becoming the first time father three weeks ago, today. >> the baby almost didn't make it, and reaction only he's been able to prompt from his mother. >> also ahead city without chirnts. now, mapping out borders and a bay area girl with a plan to
