my daughter. it's a scary moment. >> members of the california conservation corps looked for ida. she was last seen at her campsite add noon. they brought in search dogs to track her scent while her mother got into a deputy's car, anxiously waiting for a sign of her daughter. the rothschild's came to the park for a weekend camp out. >> peoplely is keeping an extra eye on her two sons. they came here for a similar weekend camp out. nine-year-old ida played with other children at the campsite. when her parents looked up, she was gone. >> we have no reason to believe there is any foul play involved. >> however, they are looking at every camera exiting and entering the park. efforts focus on a four-mile perimeter around the camp and on the creek. in marin, tiffany wilson, abc7

news. >> reporter: this morning the train service to richmond is back on schedule after a train slammed into a tractor-trailer. it happened after 4:00 yesterday afternoon. the truck entered the track-way right before the crossing arms went down. the driver was not able to get out of the train's path in time. he was not hurt. 131 people on board the train from bakersfield to oakland were okay too. a fast-moving fire led to evacuations and some tense moments in san rafael. >> they are coming. they are coming! >> one frustrated resident was arrested yesterday afternoon after he threw his car keys at firefighters, demanding they save his burning how. -- burning house. the homeowner's deck was lost but the house was saved. 100 firefighters battled and managed to save the fire. or save the home in the fire. and firefighters in san jose, crews stopped a grass fire from burning a home.

an ember sparked the awning of the house. you see firefighters on the roof taking defensive action. no one was hurt. happening today, the city of hayward will break ground on a new fire station and health clinic. the new fire station 7 will replace a deteriorating structure which served as home to one of the busiest fire stations for years. new health clinic will also be located on the ground. the groundbreaking ceremonies get underway at noon. a dog walker faces animal abuse charges after she left 8 dogs in her van and went shopping at a mall. an alert shopper found the dogs inside the unattended van in the parking lot in san francisco yesterday. she took she's photos and shared them in abc7 news. woman called authorities outraged that someone would do such a thing. the dogs were in danger. >> to get paid as a job. it is your job. they get money back. and to go shopping until you drop?

>> animal care and control cited the unidentified dog walker for leaving them in a vehicle without proper ventilation. growing concern this morning about militants taking control in iraq. president obama is ruling out boots on the ground, but he's ready to use the military. for the families of so many civilian contractors working in iraq, it's a very worry some time. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has more. >> reporter: militants culling them the islamic state in iraq or isas. these are tanked used by the iraq military. they are moving toward ballad on their way to baghdad. in ballad contractors have been trying to get out of danger for days. >> my brother said the commercial flights, that the company was trying to get, they are basically unable to find any commercial companies willing to fly into ballad. >> mitchell has been in close contact with his brother,

michael, a firefighters and private contractor with a company called sallyport global. there's been no military support so he focus today social media to focus for attention on his polite. he started to twitter. a reference to the number of the contractors stranded there. michael made it to baghdad but communications hit another problem there. >> while he was in balad he was able to access facebook and twitter, but in the city of baghdad the government has blocked facebook and twitter. then he just has text. >> right now michael is on his way to dubai, but it's not clear if all 600 contractors have made it out of the danger zone. abc7 news. this next story you will see only on abc7 news. neighbors in san francisco's bernal heights are fed up with raw sewage flooding their homes and the city doing nothing about it. five homes have this sewage

problems since 2009. homeowners paid more than $20,000 each to replace floors, walls, furniture. it happened most recently last winter. smelly black water came up through toilets and bathtubs. >> it's coming up and baling away and i'm in there and baling away and i'm getting water up to here and the next few days i had rashes and everything. >> the city has denied the claim saying homeowners are responsible for maintaining lines connecting their homes to the sewer main under the street but the city's own record indicate a defect in the main sewer line. the san jose world cup party starts early this morning. organizers spent yesterday setting up in the plaza. the party starts at 8:30, a half-hour before the first game. they hope as many at 2,000 fans will come out this weekend and expect more next weekend when the watch party moves to st. james park. >> with such a diverse population here, we've already seen a lot of different team colors floating around at lunch breaks and to have everyone come

nfl hall of famer chuck nolls died friday night. nolls won four super bowl titles with the pittsburgh steelers. the legendary coach led the steelers to four super bowl victories over six seasons from 1975 to 1980. his 16-8 record in postseason play is one of the best. he's the only one to win it four times. noll was 82 years old. the afghans have made their picks in the presidential runoff. it's between the former foreign minister and former finance minister. security was tight ahead of voting, conducting check points and searching cars after the taliban wanted people to stay away from the polls. the next president will succeed hami karzai and preside over troops by the end of the year. happy birthday to the queen. today the u.k. is celebrating queen elizabeth's 88th birthday. ♪

getting back to more of an on shore push tomorrow. enjoy the sunshine this morning in san jose with temperatures a little warmer than we were yesterday at this hour. 57 in san carlos. good morning morgan hill. 51. but at the coast we are in the 40s. cool half moon bay. in fact, significantly cooler this morning compared to yesterday. just there though. east bay hills plenty of sunshine out there. and once again today the warmest numbers will be well east as we settle into some upper 80s, perhaps 90s here. concord and livermore. right now 55 livermore. and napa dropping through the mid-40s. novato 52 and the exploratorium camera nice-looking view as we look for the warming trend to continue today. nice weather tomorrow. a little bit of a cool down with the fog and the on shore flow picking up. we will look for a cooler start as that continues into monday and tuesday. but after that things will begin to warm again as we close in on summer. here's a look at our pacific satellite picture.

mild to warm conditions today. the result of the high pressure building into the eastern pacific. but the low pressure drops south out of the gulf of alaska. that will allow for some cooling tomorrow. today the marine layer allows for clouds along the monterey coast. they were clear and a few around the san mateo coast but the see breeze picks up tomorrow. we see it here as we look at the week ahead. by tomorrow you will notice the drop. look what happens monday and tuesday. how about a comfortable day in the mid-70s for monday? then we are back to warmer than average conditions or around average in some neighborhoods wednesday and thursday. it should be a pretty summer-like day today in san jose, as well, as highs reach the mid-80s. dropping tomorrow. mid-70s for monday and back to the mid-80s by the end of next week. so today around the south bay look for around 82 in santa clara. upper 80s in los gatos and gilroy 90. 75 santa cruz with upper 70s to

authorities say the mini advance were traveling at low speeds when they collided with each other. the video came from firefighters. crews were able to go the fires out in about 20 minutes. no injuries reported. president obama will in southern california today where he will deliver the commencement address at u.c. irvine. the president and first lady arrived in palm springs yesterday evening. they will also attend a democratic national committee event in orange county. they will remain in california over the weekend and return to washington on monday. president obama is urging fathers to get more involved in their kids' lives and to serve as mentors for children who don't have fathers around. president obama is reflecting on father's day in his weekly radio and internet address. he said he knows how important dads are because his own father was absent. he says he tries to be the father and husband he did not have growing up. >> taking responsibility for being a great parent or mentor is a choice that we as

and guarantees five sick days for all workers. >> there are immense social costs to poverty in oakland. these costs are unnecessary, and quite frankly, they are cruel. >> if either measure passes, oakland would have one of the highest minimum wages in the nation. this week san francisco city leaders announced a similar ballot measure that would increase their minimum wage to $15 an hour beginning in 2018. happening today oakland leaders will hold a town hall meeting to address public safety. it's one in a series of meetings to address public safety. the mayor and police chief and a councilman will be on hand to discuss crime reduction, schools, employment and other opportunities. today's meeting gets underway at 10:00 at the north oakland senior center. happening today, supporters of the nation's oldest black bookstore will hold a march and rally demanding the property's new owners return the store's contents and sell the store back

star brandy will speak it he commencement at santa clara university. he's a former bronco and will discuss how her education at santa clara university led her to a service-oriented life. she's a co-founder of the bay area women's sports initiative, a how nonprofit that connects high school and college athletes to younger girls and encourages them to be activity and healthy. the commencement gets underway this morning. the young latino soccer fans in the bay area get a chance to play thanks to an organization that holds open tryouts around the country and is looking for the next star. >> dreams don't always come just when you are sleeping, sometimes they take place on big, grassy fields. realizing your dreams of becoming a professional soccer player or even a player on a national team in the world cup takes help. the regular soccer system in the bay area and across the nation is you have to pay it play. the better you are, the more it costs. but sometimes the best players don't have the money to play. that's where this organization comes in. >> the program is designed to

attract hispanic kids from all over the country and give them an opportunity to show their skills as soccer players, advance their soccer career and their educational career through it. >> the san francisco based organization says the open trial system all over the country is merit based. it takes no money to attend. this is video from one of their events. scouts from the professional college and u.s. and national mexican teams look for standout players. 31 kids from the program have gone pro, 12 playing for national teams. >> i got called up to go to the dallas cup, and after that i wanted to go and try to go pro and then they gave me the opportunity to go try out a couple teams in mexico. it was a very great experience. >> diago didn't get signed by a team but his dream is still alive. the world cup in brazil is a big incentive for the young players. brad thinks at least one of the program's players will make it to the world cup in 2018. who knows, one day his 13-year-old brother may be a national hero.

we all know we aren't supposed to text while driving but how many people break the law? according to a new study by the center of disease control and prevention, 49% of teen drivers have admitted to texting behind the wheel in the next month and 51% admitted to talking on the phone while driving. currently there's no national ban on texting or using the phone while driving, but many states, like california, require hands-free devices. using the cell phone while driving makes you 23 times more likely to crash. researchers say abbreviations in texting for words like great, before, tonight and wonderful make kids think about language phonetically. these abbreviations require children to sound out spellings that can actually help them from learning and writing words. the only group that showed a negative impact were young adults but researchers say that could be due to their intellectual ability. we will talk about the weather. things are look pretty good for the weekend. >> yes, just look outside.

s. >> the government doesn't make it or control it, but they are inviting you to bid on bit coin. david louie looks into who might buy them. >> 'thousands of bit coin were seized by the fbi when it shut down silk road, an online site suspected at illegal drug sales. they are valued at over $17 million. the value fluctuates based on demand. an auction of 30,000 is bound to impact its price. bit coin reached they highest price this month back on june 3rd hitting $665. but this week it lost 3% on wednesday and then 7% before making a small comeback. so who will step up and buy them? >> silk road and everything that happened with that, it kind of lost its legitimacy. >> because it was used for something like that, it will scare off people. i think they have other reasons to be interested in bit coin. >> such as having a currency

the exploratorium camera, nice bonus getting up early. you get to see the beautiful sunrise and we will look for the warming trend today. the nice weather continues except we will be cooling off about 5 degrees throughout the bay. tomorrow the on shore flow picks up. waking up to some fog not only tomorrow but that does extend into the upcoming work week will the cool down will take us through most of the beginning of the week. so here's the pacific satellite picture. high pressure is building into the eastern pacific and that brings the mild to warm conditions today. it will remain breezy at the coast. but at least we will have the sunshine today. some of those gusty winds for sure. then tomorrow we will get into the cooling with that stronger on shore push and perhaps waking up to patchy low clouds and fog around the coast. so we will look for plenty of sunshine and the 90s returning for sacramento and chico. high clouds will visit parts of the bay area throughout the afternoon. so you will notice that in parts of the north bay and east bay.

san francisco will celebrate all things italian as it kicks off it's north beach festival. now in its 60th year, north beach festival will feature two days of free entertainment, live music and 150 booths offering arts, crafts, food and beverages. the national blessing of the animals he shrine will take place. it will be in the little italy district in the north beach district between ten and six today and tomorrow. it will be nice today, right? >> yes, it will be nice today. we will still keep the breeze at the coast. if you are headed there, grab the jacket. in the 60s. it will be pretty mild around the bay, upper 70s in oakland. and upper 60s returning to near 90 inland in the accuweather seven-day forecast. the cool down with a push tomorrow on father's day. that continues through the early part of the week and then we are warming up again. the warmest day today out there. >> looking good. thank you, lisa, and thank you
