>> good afternoon, everyone, i'm larry beil >> beginning news in the oakland hills, firefighters looking for a fire bug. crews just knocked down fast-moving fires that are now contained. >> abc7 news reporter allen wong joins with us more on the investigation. allen? >> yes. just a half an hour ago, oakland firefighters put out a spot fire across the ridge up there.

and this is a the fire started around 2:00 this afternoon. it took about 300 feet of crews to get down there. when they got down there, it's full of poison oak. it took two drops to suck water out of merit lake. four alarm fire, with 90 firefighters total. let's take a look from sky 7 hd. you can see winds. that is what probably saved this thing from going as far as it did. we're only 3 to 5 miles per hour. this is off of mark and lemur just south of highway 13.

turning live now to lisa baker with the oakland fire department. you're calling these very suspicious? >> we have three fires burning in various steep terrain, then, a half hour ago, a fire at the top of the canyon approximately ten by ten. >> so two main fires 12 acres, other about three and a half. if they started what does that say to you? >> it says that our fire investigator is on the scene. we're calling them suspicious at this time. we're calling our citizens if they see sus spishus activity to call 911. >> at this time, do you have law enforcement out there looking for anyone with any type of description? >> we have no description at this time. our fire investigator hasn't determined they're suspicious or arson due to the fact they're

the audit prompted by the horrific limo fire on the san mateo bridge which killed a bride, and four friends. a mechanical problem was to blame there. the p.u.c regulates limos and shuttles and the audit says it's deals with claims and violation. 11 women escaped a burning limo in walnut creek. a electric fire may have been to blame. mary chapman was one of the survivors. she's glad a review is being done. >> i just was not an advocate in limos at all because of that experience. maybe one day, i'll feel differently. i mean, it should be, they should be held to a higher standard. because what i can see now, and back then, nothing. i didn't see any standards at all. >> findings from the audit complaints take too long to resolve. sometimes, up to six months.

above this canyon. recent one happened about a half hour ago on that ridge up there two started this canyon the toughest part was getting there. it took 300 feet of hose the call for both came in around 2:00 and rose to four alarms. this runs just south of highway 13 but winds under five miles per hour, it kept flames from racing up towards the homes. >> it's not easy. there are no trails down there. there is loose rock. >> the fire was two and a half acres the one at the bottom, three

acres, both created small fires and one on the ridge was only about three by three. we're told the neighbors put that one out. investigators say with low winds it would have been impossible to create three separate fires. you can see firefighters. we're now in mop up mode. there are chain saws but the investigation is in full swing. >> federal marshals reviewing security measures after a bullet was found inside of a court house. it came to rest in the jury room. marshals at the building believe that might have been connected to a shooting on friday. the u.s. marshals will not comment on reports. the
