police say he crossed the line a. >> a local piano instructor accused of molesting three students during lessons and there could be more possible victims out there. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama dates. 28-year-old brian butts is charged with child molestation. >> and cornell bernard is live where butts was a teacher. cornell? >> that's right. brian butts taught music at this art school in daly city and his bond and his bail was set at $1.5 million. police believe there could be more victims out there. parents are shocked to learn a sub staw suit -- substitute teacher was arrested for molesting some of his young students. 28-year-old brian butts taught piano and guitar between april and early june while the school's owner was in europe. a 13-year-old girl was the first to report the crime. >> during the cof lesson s was touching her in the

chest area over the clothing on several occasions. >> two more girls said butts touched them the same way during lessons. >> it is not supposed to happen. oh my gosh. >> parents whose kids had no contact with butts are outraged. >> most of the time for these classes it is best iflike two tr like two teachers in there. that's the best possible scenario. budgets being what they are, it won't always work out. >> the district attorney believes there could be more victims and urmings them to come forward -- and urges them to come forward. we tried to talk to brian butts, but we were shown the door instead. the d.a. says butts could face life in prison if convicted on all counts. >> we certainly feel we should pros cues these cases and --

prosecute these cases and we have no room for leniency. this is a nightmare for parents. >> and butts will be back in court on june 25th, cornell bernard, abc7 news. a chain link fence went up around two homes that burned down. it broke out at 9:30. tree trimmers first noticed the flames and ran to warn the homeowners. sky 7hd was over the scene as one man grabbed a garden hose. it was something that nearly got him arrested. >> i had to protect my property. >> noble effort to want to protect your stuff. not visible. we don't want anybody getting hurt. >> no people were harmed, but one dog was not found. it likely died in the fire. ?ai a number of brushfires and this one in vallejo where firefighters dealt with steep terrain. it was at 780 at glencoe road.

the fire burned up to the backyards of nearby homes so it was fighting for the homeowners and affected traffic along 780. sky 7hd was along a second brushfire that affected traffic. the far left lane was shutdown for much evening commute. the highway patrol says this was one of four brushfires today in fair field. no word on how they started. all of these fires and summer hasn't started yet. with the severe drought officials are more worried than ever about fireworks this fourth of july. alan wang is live at the county fair with more on this story. alan, official fireworks displays will stay safe. >> a lot of people say the alameda county fair wouldn't be the same without a fireworks display. but there is some concern to be had here. shu and ama just read three firestorms leading up and yesterday i covered four fires

alone. >> they are planning a much larger fourth of july fireworks display at the alameda county fair this year. it is a record drought is season and there is a hey field between the fairgrounds and their home. >> we seldom see anything come over to this field here. i am not going to lose any sleep over it. >> if there are high winds it is up to the fire marshall to make a recommendation. either the show will go on or we will hold off. dublin, dublin city will be selling safe and sane fireworks and residents are being reminded to use extreme caution. >> need to have a bucket of water. if they need that garden hose ready, they need to do it open and away from vegetation. >> and police put out a warning in oakland which has fol commercial grade fireworks on the fourth of july.

the sell brags may not change, but the conditions will be a lot worse. in pleasanton, alan wang, abc7 news. the high feet and the low humidity did not help firefighters. here is a live look from the exploratorium camera. sandhya patel is here with how hot it got and the coming cool down. sandhya? >> ama, temperatures got into the low 90s giving us a little taste of summer. let me show you live doppler 7hd and we will talk about the cooling trend that is coming. pretty clear skies. the fog is trying to form near half moon bay. take a look at how warm it was. inland locations got up to 92 fairfield and antioch and concord and morgan hill and up to 91 in napa. 80s around the bay. you will notice san francisco a comfortable 78 and 66 in half moon bay. at the time we had some of our hottest weather, the humidity this afternoon was pretty low in most areas. especially inland, in the

teens and in the case of santa rosa, 11 percent. watch the humidity increase as we head toward tomorrow morning. it is mostly in the 80 to 90 percentile roughly speaking. some 70s in our inland spots. that's a pretty good indication that we have fog on the way back, and with the stronger sea breeze the temperatures are going down. i will be back with a look at the details on that as we head toward summer. >> thanks. injured mountain biker had to be rescued near auburn in placer county. the 42-year-old rider crashed while biking on a remote trail. luckily he had his cell phone which he used to call for help. this video of the rescue was provided by the chp. officers hoisted him up and flew him directly to a hospital in nearby roseville to be treated. just as gas pleases rise because of tension in iraq, a new plan could cause gas prices to sky rocket. a bipartisan plan proposed by two senators on capitol hill would raise gas and diesel taxes by 12 cents over the

next two years. it is 18.4 cents for gas and 24.4 for diesel. if approved it would be the first increase since federal taxes in more than two decades. the money would be used to pay for highway and transit programs. peta wants to put a warning message in a parking lot of a mall after somebody left dogs in a van there. they asked to stencil a message on the concrete reminding pet owners about leaving dogs in cars or any pet for that matter. the request follows an incident following eight dogs left in a van and none were injured. none was injured. peta has not heard back about the plan to put warnings on the concrete. the power of a positive attitude. the remarkable spirit of a former olympic athlete seriously injured, but looking forward to her second life. >> now it is an example of what happened.

she was involved in an atv accident that severed her spinal cord. she had no feeling in her legs and feet after the the accident. before under going surgery in arizona her doctor told her to say goodbye to her husband because there was a good chance she wouldn't make it out of surgery. >> i looked at my husband and basically said i love you, goodbye. please continue on with your life. i allow you to date. that was hard to say. but we said our goodbyes. >> she knows she is lucky to be alive. >> yes, this injury sucks and yes things hurt, but i'm alive and i'm so thankful to be alive. that's why i can be positive about it, you know? it helps get me through the pain. >> her doctors say they are amazed by her positive attitude. first6 she american woman to win four olympic gold medals. she won two more in 2000.

an unusual new app is raising eyebrows and apparently a lot of money. the app is called yo and it lets people say yo to friends. just yo. nothing else. that's it. it raised $1 million from investors of the i know what you are thinking. why didn't we think of this? the creator just moved to san francisco to work on the app which took about eight hours to create. i know, this just gets better. right now yo has 50,000 users who have sent more than four million yo's. >> and that's it? >> yo, what's up with? >> what a is up with that. >> if we can say yo, does sandhya know to take it? yo sandhya. >> yo, dan and ama. that's all it takes? we have to come up with something good like that. pretty clear skies across the entire bay area. half moon bay is showing some patchy fog developing. here is the view from our exploratorium camera. a beautiful view from san francisco.

crystal clear skies and 55 in san francisco and 60 in oakland. the temperatures in the 60s san carlos san jose. look at morgan hill. feels warm there. you almost like what you would expect in summer. looking acro there the visibility is good. sictd 5 fairfield -- 65 fairfield and close to 70 degrees right now. you know we are headed toward summer. here is one other view from the east bay hills camera. as you look across the bay here, it is still in the clear. it is cooling down the next few days and summer begins this saturday at 3:51 in the morning. you are not going to believe the temperatures we are expecting for the first day of summer. here is a little bit of a hint. there is a cold front working toward the coastline. the sea breeze will strengthen going into tomorrow. and that stronger sea breeze will start to push the fog toward the coast. by morning do expect the coastal areas to start of on

on the gray side. this morning's ferry ride across the bay was clear, but tomorrow morning you will see some patches of fog. you temperatures in the mid40s to mid50s and antioch will be on the mild side with low 60s. watch this fog as we head off toward the afternoon. the morning it is there and in the afternoon a it reestablishes itself. the temperatures will come down tomorrow. we are looking at 80s inland as opposed to the 90s. 50s, 60s and right near the coastline for your thursday afternoon. you 81 in the south bay and 86 morgan hill and 78 sunnyvale and 72 santa cruz. 5* pleasant day on the peninsula, 74 san mateo and mountain view. 63 in half moon bay. if i were you i would make sure i have a sweater especially if you go to daly city for work or if you live there. this is normal for summertime. 60 degrees with the fog. 65 downtown san francisco. north bay 60s.
