a move designed to reduce gridlock on the crookedest street in the world is underway in san francisco, lombard street. this is the first week that lombard is closed to nonresident traffic. residents complaining over the number of cars led to an experiment by the municipal transportation agency. members voted to close the street over four consecutive weekends including the fourth of july. >> if i lived here here i would be annoyed. >> why. >> all these people in the way-whatnot. otherwise, pretty cool. gives tourists a safe place to take pictures without getting hit. >> you can still walk it as many people did today, or take a cab. nonresident cars, except for taxis, are banned on lombard from noon to 6:00 p.m. every weekend through july 13th. soccer fans spent the day catching world cup action at various spots in san francisco. a big crowd came out to the soma

in the central valley people are actually stealing water. one home owner whose tank holds 2500 gallons says over the past three months someone has storm his family's water eight times. he says the thieves drive up to their backyard, kick in the fence and drain the tank. it costs $275 to refill it. his daughter says it's unbearable.

this photo of soccer fans watching the world cup in brazil has launched a police investigation. take a close look. the woman appears to have jumped out of her wheelchair while cheering during the opening game. several fans are now excuse -- accused of possible ticket fraud. some people bought tickets for special doomses and used a wheelchair to enter the stadium.

passing high clouds overhead. more current temperatures in santa rosa, 80. napa, 71. novato, 73. fairfield, 82. concord, 78. livermore, 74. this time we're looking from the east bay hills and you can see in the distance the coastal low clouds so the patchy fog will return overnight. we'll start off sunday morning that way. cool at the coast. warm inland. and there's a very seasonal pattern continuing for the next few days. so here's what is going on. here's why. we have this area of high pressure. this is going to continue to bring us this steady sea breeze, that onshore flow, bringing us cooler numbers at the coast, and if you notice the jet stream is like a zonal flow so very little change over the next few days. so, we can expect the fog and low clouds overnight once again. temperatures will mainly be in the 50s. 52 in oakland. cooler in santa rosa, at 49.
