reminder just how dangerous it can be when a circuit goes out. the force of the overload sent the grate several inches before the sidewalk and the bolts and screws weapon flying, landing on a nearby car and caught fire. fortunately the owner of the car was able to put the small fire out. repairs have not been is a quick for customers in intersections without power. electricity went out during the giants game this afternoon and 1800 customers are still waiting on the repair. it is 98 degrees here today. and we spoke to one family who says their thermostat rows from a comfortable 70 something to 85 degrees. one woman who is painting her house went to four different stores looking for ice but it was sold out. another woman went for a walk to buy ice cream and cold water but it was melting and she can relate.

a hazmat crew responded this afternoon when a car crashed into a gas pump in san mateo. happened around 12:30 the valero station. nobody was injured. police blocked streets while firefighters used to sand to clean up and removed spilled gas. donors have pitched in to bring the world cup back to the big screen at civic center plaza. the screen was available for men first, round matches, including all three u.s. games. the original plan was to only bring it back for the semifinals and finals. however the u.s. made it to the second round and will play tuesday. you'll be able to watch the game for free. the city says a generallous troupe of door knows stepped up to underwrite the cost. and there will be minisoccer matches, youth soccer clinic, face painting and a photo booth. >> the games will not be at civic center plaza but they will be live on espn.

a top executive at google says it's possible cuba can be a leader in latin america, a team from google has been in cuba to promote internet access. they met with student at a haven't vanna university. right now 2.5 million cubans have internet access out of a population of 11 million. cubanys government has not acknowledged the trip. >> five years after a rocket failed to get a nasa satellite into orbit scientists are ready to launch again, this time choosing an older booster, the delta 2 to get them to orbit. scientists describe the almost identical remake of the satellite lost in 2009, a cone failed to separate and the extra weight caused the satellite to crash into the ocean, dragging half a billion dollars down with it. the mission will measure carbon levels in the earth's

>> a sick and injured bobcat had to be rescued from a bay area winery. a wildlife emergency services crew was called into the winery in los gatos. they were able to catch the bobcat with a net. it wasn't happy but rescuers were pleased to see it was strong enough to put up a fight. the bobcat was taken to a veterinarian for treatment. vets noticed severe head trauma, possibly from being hit bay car. the bobcat underwent surgery and is now recovering. >> the zoo exhibit in san francisco celebrates 150 years of history at yosemite. big celebrations are planned for tomorrow at the park, and 1864, president lincoln signed the

getting hotter inland tomorrow and then our cooling starts on tuesday. for those who don't like the hot summer weather. here's a satellite and radar. we're basically seeing those temperatures rise today with this high pressure in place, coast will remain clear. it's clear now. and remain clear overnight tonight and then as high pressure nudges just a little closer, heat peaks tomorrow. after that it's going to be downhill. here's the temperature trend for livermore, well above the average of mid-80s. 101 tomorrow afternoon. 90 by tuesday. back down to the 80s, closer to average, heading into the middle to latter part of the work week, and then warms back up heading towards next weekend. tomorrow morning going out to the door, you'll notice it's pretty mild outside so don't worry bat jacket or sweater. low 50s to mid-60s. most areas starting clear could be a little patch of fog towards the golden gate. tomorrow afternoon, check out these numbers, 98, gilroy.
