happened, one was on a jetblue flight in november, pinning a flight attendant. >> the orange county-bound passengers are staying in wichita overnight. and a weekend of punishing weather left states water-logged and asking for help. >> this was eastern arkansas to memphis, torrential rain, as much as a foot overnight saturday. forcing people out of their homes. farmers are hoping they can save that are crops. this is iowa, several feet of water. 6 inches of rain in an hour and a half in cedar rapids. the cedar rapids river rose 2 feet in a couple hours. in wisconsin, fierce winds tore apart this industrial building next to an airport. large pieces of insulation caught in the fences.

they want to change that law. they want to speed the deportati deportation, and hire more immigration judges, and build facilities to process and house the children. border patrol caught more than 52,000 kids entering the u.s. illegally since october. a number that overwhelmed the federal government and is expected to grow. >> the fact is these are children. children and families. we have a moral responsibility to address this in a dig -- dig any fied way. >> reporter: and they want to temporarily house mother who is bring their children over illegally. >> thank you. also today, the president pushing ahead with the plan to clean up the v.a. selecting former proctor gamble executive robert mcdonald to head the veterans affairs.

he graduated at the top of his class at west point and served as a captain. he would replace eric shinseki who resigned over the v.a. health care crisis. a major decision on birth control from the supreme court today. hobby lobby sued the government, saying the requirement violated their rights. the judges were divided back in march. supporters will be waiting for that decision outside the supreme court. more charges expected to be charged against the alleged mastermind of the benghazi attack. he made a brief appearance in washington over the weekend. prosecutors have yet to reveal details. a two-page indictment unsealed saturday offered no new details. he will be back in court on tuesday. and iraq is striking back with the help of the u.s.

deployi ining helicopters in an attempt to take back ty krit. and the u.s. has sent 75 hellfire missiles. the insurgents remain in control of the city. breaking news from south africa, as the murder trial of olympic sprinter oscar pistorius resumed. it's been recessed for six weeks while he underwent psychiatric tests. those tests show he did not suffer from mental illness at the time he shot and killed his girlfriend, reeva steenkamp. it could affect the length of the sentence if convicted. and the wildfire in eastern arizona, got a break from the windy weather, and now 5% contained. although evacuation orders remain in place for three dozen summer homes, they are not in imminent danger.

now traffic. on the roads, i have good news: we do have new lanes opening. northbound and southbound direction in san ramon valley you will see an extra couple of lanes. traffic will be smoother if you go between walnut creek and san ramon. the bay bridge toll plaza shows the commute is clear and it is light. as you come from emeryville to san francisco, there are no delays. >> we starting with breaking news this morning where police are searching for the driver of a car that crashed into a popular san francisco hardware store. amy hollyfield is at the scene. what is happening? >> we are in the castro. you can see the bmw crashes into

the variety hardware on castro street just up from 18th, a big mess here. lots of damage to the store. the owners have arrived on the scene to assess the situation. police are interviewing witnesses. i heard them talking to a witness who saw the whole thing. he said the car did not appear for going that fast but lost control and it was flying. he was distracted watching everything flying around. he focused on the driver he realized a patter by stopped to help him and he looked very dazed. he described him as having a shaved head and a white t-shirt that had blood on it from the accident. ed -- the drive took off. police are lying to fine him and they are trying to gather evidence to figure out what happened and talk to the owners
