live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. good morning. the clock just struck. i am katie marzullo here for kristen sze. >> that was dramatic. clock strikes at 5:00. >> it is going to be cooler as you may notice. it was hot yesterday. taking a look at the camera, we have early morning fog and patchy fog and that will cool things counsel. it will be warm and dry for the fourth of july with a warm-up. the temperatures will come back up. we have a full freeway closing in oakland northbound side of the nimitz 880 at 98th and that is due to a major injury accident and we were reporting it was a fatality and c.h.p. called the coroner.

we are not sure what is going on. the northbound side of 880 is shut down. that means 580 will be the alternate if you headed to the oakland airport and an alternate route will be needed. this is a shot of the bay bridge toll plaza you can see it is moving along just fine coming from emeryville and well keep you updated on the happenings in the east bay. it is 5:30 1. crews are feeling the heat as they battle a brushfire that threatened several homes. residents were evacuated as flames swept up a hill to multimedical homes. an entire ibm research center was ever -- evacuated. crews remained overnight to

watch for hot pot. we will have more in a report in 30 minutes. >> south bay crews had to dole with this fire which burned between four can five acres. we flew over where it broke out in the woods at the golf course near center road. crews from otherties were called in to battle the flames and the fire was brought under control in four hours. investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. >> the obama administration is sending 300 more troops to iraq which just saw the most deadly month of the year, the troops will bring the number to 750 and all personal are used to benefit up security at the embassy in baghdad and to protect citizens in the area. the u.n. is reporting 2,400 people including 1,500 fans were killed in iraq in june. >> israel is wasting no time in retaliating for the deaths of three kidnapped teens. air strikes are pounding the

the fire broke out at 1:30 yesterday afternoon and flames swept up the hill to several multimillion dollar homes. the entire ibm research center had to be evacuated along with a park. >> this fire, about seven miles away stretched the capabilities of the crews, and sky 7 flew over where it broke out in a wooded area of the golf course which is near center road and crews were delayed in the respond because they were busy at the hillside fire. the flames burned between four and five acres and some golfers kept playing, believe it or not, and crews from other cities like gilroy helped the firefighters battle the flames. it took less than four hours to bring the fire under control and investigators are looking for what sparked the fire. >> the city of oakland will have all fire stations manned and ready to go. they began rotating fire station closures to save money.
