slow downs in the caldecott tunnel eastbound direction to 44, we have a little bit of yellow. westbound traffic from orinda is not too bad and a look at the richmond-san rafael toll plaza is quiet, but empty. still quite early. i will keep you updated in a little bit. napa is waking up to a waging wildfire with hundreds of hopes lettened and evacuated scorching 3,000 acres. amy hollyfield is at the cal fire station in napa. >> it is very calm right now. they are very grateful for that. they have 300 firefighters on the line battling the fire and they did not get a break over

night. they say it took all night to tackle this but the winds have died down and it was giving them problems yesterday afternoon. that is when the fire was spreading quickly. it has burned 2,700 acres and we expect an update the number this morning. they say it has destroyed five structures. some residents say they fear it could have been more but some of them picked up garden hose and got to work. >> the file kept going that way and slowly uphill and the kids did a great job with the hose up here and mostly stopped it from burning their house. >> fire is burning in pope valley east of calistoga in napa valley and the winds died down last night but helped give them an advantage. it is calm right now and they saying they are making progress. when the sun comes up they will be able to assess how much they accomplished overnight. they do expect an update this

morning. >> many residents of more than 160 homes are evacuated this morning and they do not know when they are allowed home. the fire came quarter-mile of a subdivision when the only road was struck by fire after the road cleared, though, some decided to stay but crews warned them they better be ready to lebanon if they saw the flames returning. many evacuated to red cross shelter. smoke from the fire can be seen all over the bay area and this is a shot from the camera in berkeley 5 a miles away. you can see the huge plume of smoke billowing up. >> we have pictures from napa county, and doug o'neal took this picture in downtown calistoga and e-mailed it to ureport@kgo-tv.com.

earthquake. the closure between highway 101 and i-280 interchange will begin tonight at 9:00 p.m. and re-open at 5:00 p.m. monday july 7. the agency has found success with closings over holiday weekend because it has less of an impact on the commuters. the on-ramp affected by the closure including highway 101 connection to northbound i-280, indiana street and 18th street. southbound i-280 will remain open and motorists are advised to take public transportation. you will see the signs lit up along i-280. we are in san francisco for abc7 news. the jury in the bryan stow lawsuit against the dodgers resumed deliberation today. two people beat him into a coma on opening day of 2011 and he is

a long-term giants fan and is now severely disabled. the family is suing the dodgers and former team owner accusing them of not providing enough stadium security. they want $37 million to pay for his medical care. his mother says providing the care is a tremendous financial burden. >> we talked about this last night that if we don't get anything we are going to have to look at cutting out his nighttime care and taking care of him ourselves and getting him ready for bed and keep somebody for two hours in the morning. >> the jury have been deliberating since last thursday. the two men who beat him pled guilty and were sentenced to prison. >> tonight, human relations commission will discuss a plan to rename a middle school after civil rights leader after a unified school district committee voted unanimously in support of renaming portrero middle school after the japanese civil rights legend.

a long time residents do not want the name changed when the rebuilding project at a new location is completed. on wednesday the school district board of education is scheduleed to consider the proposal. he was arrested and convicted for refusing orders to reports to internment i camp during world war ii and was awarded the medal of freedom by president clinton. >> one of the golf's major tournaments is coming here, according to the p.g.a., the championship will be held here and the match play championship next year and 2025 president's cup could be held as harding park which has not been played on the west kept since 1998. the golf course hosted the president's cup in 2009. mosquito fogging is underway after a group of he mosquitoes and a chicken tested positive for west nile virus.

wrap up a house fire in oakland that brock out after 1:30 this morning. investigators say flames were hooting up to 30 feet into the sky and it took crews 15 minutes to get the fire under control. no one was hurt. the person who lived there was not home. video of a man in his 20's able to walk on his own after being rescued from a cliff by san francisco firefighters this morning. he called 9-1-1 for help after 3:00. he may have been assaulted. police are trying to figure out what happened. he was lucky to be in an area accessible by foot because the heavying for and wind would have made a rope rescue extremely difficult. the man now is in san francisco general hospital. happening today, caltrain is ready to close a portion of i-280 in san francisco for the holiday week. northbound 280 will shut down from 101 split up to 5th street tonight at 9:00 p.m. and

not scheduled to re-open until monday at 5:00 a.m. the reason is because bridge hinges need replacing. they allow the freeway to bend and flex. crews will tear on the concrete and install the new hinges four times the size. they did this on the southbound side section on memorial day week. >> a caltrain conductor is taken off duty in connection with an incident where he con front add bridge rent passenger who hit a female conductor with her purse on the train on saturday. the attack continues after she leaves the train. when the male conductor intervenes the woman hits him, too, and he kicks and pushes her. hard. the video prompted different reactions from caltrain riders. >> he was doing his job. >> he has to protect the public.

covering san rafael, south bay, pleasanton and all bay area, this is abc7 news. a fiery explosion caught on camera. look at this. a food truck blew up in north philadelphia yesterday injuring eleven people. two of the people suffered serious burns. police say the explosion happened outside an auto body shop. they believe a proceed table bank was the cause. the blast was caught by a surveillace camera. no homes are businesses were damaged. >> a wanting in san mateo after neighbors spotted a mountain lion attacking a deer near home homes. the attack happened early yesterday morning. it happened in this man's back yesterday. >> my dad shined the flab light and we saw a mountain lion
