covering novato, sunnyvale and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. in georgia, a father charged with murder after his 22-month-old son died in a hot s.u.v. and is scheduled to be back in court today. a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to keep justin harris in jail. he leaded not guilty to murder and child cruelty in down18 death his son, cooper. he told police he was supposed to drive his son to day care but drove to work without relying his child was epaed in the car seat in the back. he discovered the toddler's body driving home from work seven hours later. search warrants released over

the weekend show he had done an online search on what temperature could cause a child's death in a vehicle. according to a san francisco state university study, 13 kids have already died this year after being left in a hot vehicle. since 1998 there have been 619 heat stroke deaths of children left in cars. half were forgotten and 18 percent were left on purpose. another 29 percent were playing in an unattended car. safety group say parents should leave something they need at the destination in the back seat as a remainder such as a shoe. >> amber alert from southern california has been canceled after a missing six-month-old baby was found safe in arizona. the girl's grandmother, 57 years old carolyn ferguson is in custody. she took the child from her home and headed 50 miles outside of phoenix. police say fug son has a hit of mental illness and is in need of

>> people in a peninsula neighborhood are watching the hills near their homes because a mountain lion is stalking. tim and his son spotted the mountain lion on monday behind their home. it attacks and killed a deer. they saw the lion again near their home yesterday. >> it turned the corner and wow, up pops the lion. >> the animals are looking for food and water right now so be aware. always. >> fish and wildlife officials say the hills are a natural habitat for mountain lions and the prey. it is the second confirmed mountain lion since may. >> close encounter with a whale left two boaters if california shaken and wet. a photographer was taking pictures 12 miles off the coast and this happened. a blue whale flipped a 23' vessel. a camera captured it all.

580 westbound from castro valley up to the maze is 14 minutes and 101 northbound from the 280/680 split is 12 minutes. >> an unruly passenger forced an americans airline to make an unscheduled stop year. the plane landed in phoenix because of a disrupted passenger. politician and paramedics met the plane. the passenger was treated, arrested, and taken off the flight. another passenger says they were told the planes with landing in arizona because it was "too heave." the flight in san diego to dallas resumed in an hour. >> five people are recovering after being nearly hit by the facade on the brooklyn bridge. a 25' section came down. all five people went to the hospital after breathing in dust and debris. the bridge is fine. what came down was not a structural wall.
