live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> fireworks crackdown on this fourth of july bay area law enforcement agencies have zero tolerance for illegal tolerance in light of this year's fire danger. good morning, everyone, i am katie marzullo. the hills are covered in dry brush making people nervous. the danger of sparking a grass fire is very real especially with illegal fireworks. amy hollyfield is in dublin where people are planning to be safe and we sane.

>> there are going to be fireworks because we are at a stand and sales are brick. this is a fundraiser for a soccer team. money on their mind but that is not all they are talking about. there is a loud and clear message your fire works need to be legal. you need to use them safely. >> this family loaded up on fireworks in dublin and the kids can not tell you exactly what they will see when they light the fuse but they do know they are excited. >> we will go crazy. hopefully they will not burn anything. >> this stand on dublin boulevard is doing what it can to make sure that doesn't happen. the volunteers include more in your bag than fire works. >> make sure you have the safety tips in the bag and make sure they have a map of the parks where they request do the fire works. >> fire works are legal if dublin and they are called the

"safe and sane" fireworks but that is not a license to be reckless. >> i caution people that doesn't mean there are no risks. there is still the possibility of injury coming from the fire works and also for them to start fires. when it comes to safe and sane i add a third word: reasonable. >> firefighters will be on guard tonight and they worry about people getting hurt and about the especially dry conditions. >> we bring in extra staffing for additional fire units and we have, also, wild land fire-fighting bulldozer and we have taken appropriate measures. >>the workers feel confident their customers will act like responsible grown ups, so the little ones can have care tree fun. >> it is dry. we don't have enough water right now. we don't want to be burned.

>> another message firefighters want to get across if you buy your fireworks here legally can you not shoot them off in your city if they are not legal there. it is very important to know the laws in your own city. new this morning, progress in the napa county fire. the 4,300 acre wildfire now is 55 percent contained. the announcement was made this morning and there are no longer homes that are being threatened and evacuation orders are lifted. the fire have been burning since tuesday that destroyed two homes and seven outbuildings. 1,700 firefighters are on scene. firefighters have the upper hand the conditions are ripe if fires everywhere in the bay area. leyla gulen here for meteorologist jon james to check on the -- meteorologist mike nicco to check on the weather. >> we have have a main layer confined to the cost and doppler

shows clear conditions for the bay area with wind gusts and we have that onshore blow and that could pick up any possible sparks so you want to be careful. in napa we have a southwest breeze at nine miles per hour if in concord, 13 miles per hour. livermore is at five. so, it is fairly calm but the winds will increase in the overnight hours. i will keep you updated with the seven-day outlook straight ahead. turning now to other news, police in antioch are investigating a shooting that injured two people. it happened at 10:00 last night on sick can more drive. two men were hit and taken to the hospital with injuries not considered "life threatening." there is in word on the suspect. >> health officials confirm that mosquitoes collected from three local cities have tested positive for west nile prompting additional fogging treatments to be planned for parts of campbell, cupertino, and san jose. weather permitted the ground fogging operations will happen on tuesday and thursday night.

more than 40,000 customers are still without power on north carolina outer banks after arthur swept across the islands as category two hurricane. we go now to nags head, north carolina. >> crews are trying to get the

power restored. the gusts and the choppy surf are the only signs left of hurricane arthur. harsh winds still whipping across the north carolina shorelynn. almost as strong as the size of the relief. >> it wasn't too bad. >> it came ashore with winds of more than 100 miles per hour and category two hurricane and flooded roads, caused power outages and set off reported tornadoes. >> it was choppy. >> thank you is not as severe a lot of people including the governor of north carolina, fear. this has been a very good day. there have been no casualties or serious injuries reported. that was our number one goal. that puts a big smile on all our faces. >> not too many miles from those would live on hatteras island.
