right now. it has not died down so they're still trying to get control of that second fire. we've seen air drops coming in here from a helicopter. calfire is assisting the mont z ezuma fire district, but it's hard to get out here because there aren't many roads that go into this rural area. i would like to bring in stephanie tackett who is a fire victim. stephanie, i understand you lost your home. >> yes, i did. >> reporter: did you have a chance to even fight the fire? >> we had a chance to fight the fire. my daughter and husband were arguing just like teenagers do with their dads. he went out the door and started hollering. he has to have neck surgery done on his neck. he started hollering and we thought he fell. we didn't know there was a fire going on. he said, i smell smoke, i smoel smoke, something is burning. he comes running in the door and

grabs pots and pans, and we all start screaming. me and my daughter started screaming trying to get some help out of here before it burned all the houses down and burned my home down. i lost my glasses, my husband lost his glasses. i lost my driver's license, all my cash. i just got my check cashed. i was fixing to get a money order and pay my rent. i've lost everything. my clothes. >> reporter: and you just moved in here. >> just moved in here. i've been here three days. things were still not all unpacked. that's what we were doing today. >> reporter: stephanie, i'm sorry, and i'm sure the red cross is getting in contact with you. stephanie and her husband and their 17-year-old daughter now trying to get shelter out here. we believe that at least six other homes have already burned out here in the delta, and they are trying to get control of this fire which is still burning

out of control not far from where we are. i'm alan wong reporting live in collinsville. back to you guys. >> so tragic. thank you, alan, and we have more breaking news in sacramento. that's where this grass fire is burning near cal expo, home of the california state fair. officials are evacuating as a precaution. so far the flames do not threaten any buildings. there are no reports of any injuries. firefighters have raced to the scene across the area. they still plan to hold their fireworks later this evening. a bart train has hit a person at the richmond bart station. the station is closed. there is no word yet on when the richmond station will reopen. do stay tuned on line and on twitter for the latest on all these breaking news stories. they also say the richmond

el torito station is also closed as well. fireworks will light the sky tonight. some legal, some not. it's the illegal ones that have officials worried as homes are vulnerable to fires, as you just heard. we're live on communication hill in san jose. firefighters are preparing for a busy night ahead. david? >> reporter: yes, they are. you can see the dry tinder. that's why there's so much nail biting about the potential of fires tonight. even with the restricted use of fireworks sales, firefighters are not lowering their guard. the operations center is gearing up for a busy night. they already had reports of someone setting up for illegal fireworks last night. >> we usually make ourselves known, establish that presence and more of an educational

reminder that where the legal fireworks are allowed and where they are not. >> all fireworks were banned in santa clara county except for the city of gilroy. calfire units have responded twice to san juan drive in morgan hill. tim kennedy's daughter has concerns when she hears them. >> my daughter looks out the window and is worried they'll catch a house on fire. we've got a tile roof and don't have to worry too much. >> what do you do? it seems like people want fireworks even though they're illegal in this county. >> not much you can do. >> reporter: that means fireworks are being bought somewhere. even here they can't be set off in city parks or on school grounds. buyers coming in from other cities where they're banned say fireworks are an important part of festivities. >> we'll find a place where we can discharge them safely and we're not going to get in

trouble. but we look forward to enjoying it either way. >> reporter: firefighters worry that the dry conditions resulting from drought will increase the risk of fires tonight. but they'll be ready to respond if people fail to be responsible. >> if you get carried away with the thought of the day and the celebration, sometimes people do things they may not be thinking clearly about. our job is to be there when that happens and to make sure that we are prepared as well as we can be. >> in morgan hill, david louie, abc 7 news. many people are making a mad dash to buy the last of their fireworks. california sets strict restrictions allowing the sale of fireworks that don't fly or explode. dublin is one of six cities in bait area where safe and sane fireworks are legal. petaluma is also allowing

fireworks sales. if you're planning on setting off fireworks on the beaches tonight, there are strict penalties for setting them off. fireworks and drinking have tripled this week. police in santa cruz are asking anyone who sees illegal fireworks being used to contact them and report the incident. every year thousands of us swarm the coast for the holiday weekend. and as usual, warnings are out for everything from alcohol to fireworks, but this year another warning caught our eye. a protected chic. dwayne? >> reporter: i'm a reveler for places like this. up and down the coast tens of thousands of people will gather to watch the fireworks. but they better be careful because they're trampling on

negotiations of the coliseum lease. the lease goes into the 14th month, the fans losing their patience. it may be a day of celebration, but a's fans attending today's game found the latest developments coming out of the team's commitment to extend its lease in oakland. >> we're fans and we're not leaving no matter what. >> we're just tired of the on and off of wolf in the city. we need something new. >> they want something new from owner lee wolf before signing onto the deal just yesterday. among the sticking points, let's say he wanted a team committed to stay until the end of 2019, not just 2017. and oakland wants the a's to play 2100. not the current .5 million in the current deal.

police arrest aid man today after he went on a scantily clad run through an apartment building. he was wearing only a g-string when he ran through this building on pennsylvania street when he set off every fire extinguisher he could find. officials say he was very high. residents could still laugh and take a picture. the man was taken to the hospital. police don't know if he lived in the building. several people were hurt in a- speed chase involving a tesla today. the tesla hit three other cars
